Google ThinkMap
Thinking gets you the green.
Project paleGoldenRod is a collaborative and interactive location-based internet games platform. It's built purely on JavaScript and Ajax, taking full advantage of the Google Web Toolkit. It utilizes the Google Maps API and Google Charts API to immerse players in the real-time multiplayer gaming environment.
Basically, it's our vision of Google Games.
Use of Contest Theme
We make use of the contest theme in not one, not two, but multiple innovative ways. As a reminder, the contest theme is Think Green.
- Our three implemented games are think-ing games, and they are visualized on the Think-Map.
- We recycle Google search technologies to produce creative new games.
- Our team worked with a green lava lamp, and codenamed one of our games greenLavaLamp.
- GREEN stands for G-oogle R-eal-time E-ntertainment E-voking N-etwork.
Completed Killer Features
- Lightbox login.
- Full-screen map (Note: As far as I could tell, this is impossible with the pre-made API in Google Web Toolkit, so I created a new implementation of GMap2Widget).
- Standard Google Maps controls, such as panning, zooming, and different map types.
- Tracking of who created which game.
- Virtually instant (realtime) updating of new game info.
- Google Charts API (there is some strangeness with the API).
- Google Gadgets directly on the map, multiplayer games a future feature.
