Issue 52 has been merged into this issue.

It seems that viber is looking for some resources in the system that it cannot find. I honestly don't know what resources these are (since it doesn't say in logcat). Maybe try to contact the developer and see if they can issue a fix. As far as i know viber doesn't work properly on any custom rom. Stock rom is the only one that works...

Hi! This is a member of Viber's R&D team. We see that you are having issues with Viber crashing on your system. Running Viber on a custom ROM results in various side effects (sometimes total lack of functionality). Our recommendations to you would be to either uninstall and reinstall Viber [try again], or find the proper customization which works best with Viber. Of course, returning your device back to it's original settings is the best option for compatibility. If you'd like to see what devices are fully supported please check out our website: http://helpme.viber.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/45/0/is-your-android-compatible-with-viber-system-requirements We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more devices. If anyone has additional questions about Viber, feel free to ask :-) Also you can visit us on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/viber Regards, Viber team

Thank you for taking the time to comment here. It's still weird how the app works fine on stock rom but doesn't work on any other custom rom. What is it looking for that can't find anywhere else? :)

It is our pleasure and duty to help our users, no matter where they are on the Web :) It is hard for us to tell which specific feature of the ROM (or the phone) fails when Viber crashes on your Custom ROM. The source of the problem could greatly vary: the microphone, the memory allocation, internal Viber settings or settings within the ROM that collide with Viber. Unfortunately, as a company with limited resources we can't afford to officially support *all* Custom ROMs out there. We did, however, add partial support for very popular ROMs like CyanogenMod and MIUI.

Well thank you anyway for your input here, it's very appreciated. To all the users, i'll leave this issue open so people could see it but i'll mark it as low priority.

Well i've installed viber today and it didn't crash... I've also sent and received a couple of texts with no problems. I've even tried a call and it worked but it uses the cpu 100% and it froze the phone in the middle of the conversation...

Still using the same ROM as before?
May 21, 2012
Well i've updated it. Made some changes in libaudio so that might have influenced it.

Well, If it's still a Custom ROM, then unfortunately we still can't be of much assistance with the CPU problem you're describing. Have you tried isolating Viber (after a reboot, shut down all other services... etc.)? The problem is still the same? Like last time, we'd recommend to contact the ROM developers who might be able to help you.
