Allow zooming a track display #95
Comments
Well it turns out you actually can zoom. But you have to enable the background map in order to get the two zoom controls. And, you can only zoom in a little bit. |
I think that's expected. The basic map display was never intended to be zoomable, it's more about giving you an overview of your track when you don't have a data plan and can't access background maps. There would be not much value in zooming as there's nothing to see. If you want more advanced controls like zooming, the background map should be used. |
Pehaps always have an empty background map present. That way the software would think that it has a background map, and would allow zooming. Also do try it with a background map. Zooming stops long before we run out of tiles for that magnification for some reason. There is an artificial zoom limit imposed somewhere. |
Who says there's nothing to see? I want to see the details of the track I made which are much more detailed than any background map for my rural area. Also you say it's for people that don't have a data plan. So they now must get a data plan just a zoom the map! Even though the map has nothing on it, because we are in a rural area. Sorry to sound so confrontational, but often we walk a long way and in the middle there's some very detailed walking that we did but because the map cannot be zoomed so we're forced to only see the whole trip. Of course we can upload it later but we want to see it now. |
One can display tracks, but no matter how much we unpinch the map, it won't zoom.
