07/12/2011 - The OSEC team has donated our codebase to the new Apache Rave (incubating) project and are now actively participating in the Rave development process. The goal of Apache Rave is to become the reference implementation for a lightweight widget portal and to unify the efforts of multiple existing open-source projects, such as OSEC.

As we are spending our development time on Apache Rave, we will not be updating the codebase found here, other than to fix major bugs or apply community submitted patches. Once Rave’s functionality surpasses that of OSEC, we will no longer accept patches and will begin the process of retiring this site.

The Rave team has recently released a very early alpha build (0.1-incubating) and will be producing releases on a monthly basis until a stable 1.0 release has been completed.

OSEC is written in Java and uses the Spring 3.0 framework for dependency injection and implementation of the MVC pattern. The application provides a custom gadget application store, drag and drop customization of page layout, and other common portal features.
