Orpheus is an Eclipse RCP based multi-platform media center software, designed and developed by Digital Alien Software Systems and published under the terms of the MIT/X11 License.

Highlights

Orpheus is designed with 4 highlights in mind:

Goal

The goal of Orpheus is to provide a multi-platform media center supporting the most well-spread media formats out there, as well as the most common and cutting-edge media management features, in a very versatile and customizable environment.

An Innovative Design

Its approach is fairly innovative and mixes legacy and futuristic means of ordering and sorting your media library, as well as dynamic features for automated music generation and playlists' or ambiances' management.

Its core is based on the Eclise RCP platform for portability and modularity, and its internal components rely on a Database-oriented and fully scriptable controller to ease the cross-referencing and labeling of your favorite pieces of art.

The Tale of Orpheus

The codename of the project comes from the Greek hero Orpheus, mostly renowned for the tale of his failure at saving his beloved Eurydice from the depth of the Underworld, where he managed to charm Hades with his Lyra to earn the right of bringing her back to life.
