One day life is IT-community focus within the walls of the center InfoSpace. Participants expect gigabytes of useful information about new trends in web technologies, reports and master classes by international IT-professionals with world-renowned experts and leading Mail.Ru Group. Since the first Forum of Technology, it became clear that it attracts a lot of attention, are interested in both experienced and novice developers and system administrators. Last year the event was attended by 800 people, and Spring Forum, held in April 2012, has collected more than a thousand students. In 2012 the event was decided to carry out not once, but twice a year - spring and fall. What will happen with the Forum: A wide range of topics - from the NoSQL and cloud technologies to languages, trends and programming techniques, as well as management of web development. Overseas speakers, high-level experts who will talk about new technologies and tools, authenticated scale projects.

Title of the talk: "OrientDB: the scalable Document-Graph Database"

|Russian and English|Luca Garulli | ||November 1-2 2012 | Tallin, Estonia | Document databases are used more and more frequently. Most popular ones (such as MongoDB) are schemeless and have APIs well suited for dynamic languages such as JavaScript. How should we use them in our statically typed scala applications? In this talk we'll explore possibilities coming from mix of Slick library and a document-graph database - OrientDB. Why these two? Slick is a scala library that enables type-safe access (queries) to various databases. OrientDB is a database engine close to JVM - written in Java, having native Java API and community driven JDBC driver. We'll show how they can be used together to write statically typed queries for document database. We'll see how far can we get - what are limits of techniques used by Slick? We'll also look at some benefits for testability and architectural soundness that can come from using these technologies.

NoSQL is taking the IT-world by storm: Originally devised to tackle growing amounts of data, NoSQL now forms the base for a large variety of business solutions. The upcoming conference “NoSQL matters” will present the innovations at the forefront of the area―and right in the center of Europe.

Under the caption NoSQL matters, Germany’s largest international NoSQL conference will take place from May 29th to May 30th 2012 in Cologne. The event is supposed to give pioneers in this area the opportunity to present recent innovations in the dynamic field of large, scalable, high-performance databases.

Which databases are able to provide storage capability and ready access tied to peak performance and reliability? Why do some companies, like Google, fall back on SQL technologies by now?
