Welcome to OSDE project!
The purpose of this project is to make an IDE development tool for OpenSocial applications. OpenSocial Development Environment (OSDE) is provided as a Eclipse Plug-in. OSDE allows you to develop and test OpenSocial applications very easily.
New! OSDE 0.3.1 has been released. This version is supported OpenSocial Specification 0.9! You can install this using the following update site:
For Windows users: Currently, OSDE has some problems regarding paths that include spaces. You can create and execute your gadget with OSDE according to the following entry (courtesy of Robson who is OpenSocial Guru, and Tatsuya-san).

What's OSDE?
OSDE is the Eclipse Plug-in for developing OpenSocial applications. Normally when you want to develop and test a social application, you must use an actual SNS(e.g., orkut.com, myspace.com, hi5.com, etc.). This has many drawbacks--for example, you must make friends for testing your social application, must find a SNS that supports all the functions you are testing, and the server hosting the SNS must provide high availability.
OSDE is able to provide an individual SNS for you. In this small SNS, you can make a person's profiles, social graph, groups, and most test data. These test data will be used in your OpenSocial application. In addition, OSDE provides views for listing people, appdata, activities, etc. in your Eclipse IDE. By using these views, you will be able to control most test data when testing your application.
