Web-application platform for international seed-saving, seed-swapping and heirloom seed trade network, focussed on the preservation of heirloom, open-pollinated plant varieties.

OpenSeed is still in early-stage development, and the primary need is for people who can code, design beautiful and highly user-friendly websites, graphic artists and copywriters. (Not intended to exclude other help anyone is willing to offer, just these are the current priorities.)

openseed.org is being developed in Java, using JSPs and servlets (no frameworks!) and currently needs help from copywriters, graphic designers, website developers, user-experience gurus, fund-raising fundis, marketing mavens and legal eagles, and, of course, seed-savers and gardeners willing to help with beta-testing of the software.

Code is to be released under the GNU Affero GPL so contributors must be willing to release work under those terms. Content is most likely to be placed under Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial ShareAlike license.
