OpenMetaApplications
IntroductionThis is a list of applications that support the reading and/or writing of OpenMeta Tags. Applications that only search OpenMeta Tags are listed under the subsection "Partial Support". (Also, the owners/maintainers of this page have no responsibility for the quality and/or effectiveness of any of the applications presented. YMMV.) openmeta is not mentioned on Filespot's web site, nor present in the forum. It IS possible to search for openmeta-based tags though.
Rolf: I am also listing apps that can use OpenMeta? Tags, not necessarily ones that are advocating OpenMeta?. My thinking is to show that OpenMeta? is useable in a broader range than just those claiming to support it. Maybe I'll subsection it further.
In FileSpot?, you have to add a search predictate, choose "Other" and select "Tags set on a file by a user (OpenMeta?)" in order to search for an OpenMeta? tag.
You can now add TagoMan? http://onflapp.wordpress.com/tagoman/ to fully supported applications. Thanks
Punakea just came out with OpenMeta? support.
I just updated Tagger to use OpenMeta?.
Including the date added/modified with an application entry would make it easier to see the chronological history.
Can anyone clarify what " (effectively, although not really OpenMeta?)" means when describing Tags.app?
"(effectively, although not really OpenMeta?)" means that Gravity writes tags that are compatible with OpenMeta?, but internally uses its own, entirely independent code for doing so. It is somewhat similar to the way that Apple's Pages can read and write Microsoft's Word document format, but uses its own, entirely independent code for doing so.
EagleFiler? now supports writing tags to OpenMeta?, as well as the recent tags list.
Schreiben 5.3 Added OpenMeta? support
There is an openmeta plugin for Quicksilver:
http://groups.google.com/group/blacktree-quicksilver/browse_thread/thread/df03c483786ca2da/af58e98451ae9d73
I just released TagLists, which uses OpenMeta?.
SlipBox? (http://markusguhe.net/slipbox/) keywords are written to OpenMeta?
It seems there is some support in the new version of DevonThink?.
Cant find a single app supporting OpenMeta? for Windows. All the apps above are Mac.
PrimeFiles? uses OpenMeta?: http://www.pointworks.de/software/primefiles/
DevonThink 2.0.1 reads and writes OpenMeta? tags to files imported, exported, or managed with DevonThink?.
Automaton, AutoFiler? and AutoNotes? use it. http://www.tech.com.au/
HoudahSpot? 3.0 will bring full support for OpenMeta?: tagging and searching
A beta is currently available at MacDeveloper?.net
HoudahSpot? 3.0 has been released. You may now move HoudahSpot? to the full support section
I have created an installer which installs the 1.3.0 CLI in /usr/local/bin/. (http://marc.vos.net/downloads/other/files/openmetacli.pkg.zip)
Save Panel Extender adds basic OpenMeta? tagging to save dialogs. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A//sites.google.com/site/stakeannex/softwares/savepanelextender&hl=en&langpair=auto|en&tbb=1&ie=UTF-8
My new mail plugin: Meta sweetpproductions.com
uses OpenMeta?
Some cleanup and reordering done. Anyone know if Jordan Kay's QS Plugin is officially dead?
Is "Open Metadata" in iDocument the same as OpenMeta?? http://www.icyblaze.com/idocument/
Tagoman is official discontinued, which is a terrible shame; it's the only OpenMeta? app I've tried so far that included Automator actions! Any other alternatives?
Reply to mgr...@gmail.com,
Yes, iDocument is using the same openmeta data.
Jordan Kay's QuickSilver? plugin still works fine in the latest QS builds. The problem is the source was never shared so it cannot be rebuilt...
FolderWatch? sync your files or folders after openmeta added, live backup way.
