We share the prize

In order to fully comply with the Android Developer Challenge Terms and Conditions, we establish the following rules:

  • 100% of the competition award is split among officially participating developers according to their DeveloperPoints.
  • 100% of donations received up to one month after the end of the competition (and even after that period if donations are specifically designated to the developers of the competition) are also split among officially participating developers according to their DeveloperPoints.

These are the requirements to become an official developer of the OpenIntents project:

  • You have to be a member of this project.
  • You are eligible to participate in the Android Developer Challenge (see ADC T&C, section 4, "Eligibility").
  • You should have contributed at least one new feature to the main trunk/openintents and have earned at least a few percent of the total DeveloperPoints by March 15, 2008. (We will not accept developers who just sign up to act as placeholders for round 2, but we want developers that can bring us into round 2).
  • You should provide your participant information (see below) to the project owner as soon as possible, at the latest by March 15, 2008.

We will submit our project as a Team Submission to the contest listing each member separately. This means that the composition of team members may not change between round 1 and round 2. The Qualifying Grant of round 1 (if applicable) is split according to the fraction of the total developer points each developer earned in round 1. For splitting the Grant in round 2, the sum of developer points from round 1 and round 2 is taken. If Google provides a way to pay a specific fraction of the prize to each team member separately (see discussion), this option will be taken. Otherwise the team captain will receive and distribute the prize. Each team member is responsible for taxes and bank transfer fees of their share.

In case there are 7 or more official developers by the beginning of March, we will keep the option to form a German "Verein" (~voluntary association) (see discussion). In this case our rules may be revisited.

The old rules we had prior to the official announcement of the ADC Terms and Conditions are obsolete, due to the reasons discussed here.

'Talk Message' as opposed to 'Text Message'.

This function would allow a user to 'speak' a text message which would be saved as an MP3 and sent as such. The receiver would just click on the MP3 and listen to the message.
