OpenFire is a Java API for accessing the XFire gamer's instant messaging network. It has been built to allow the creation of LAN party tools to manage communications at large (100+ man) events, taking advantage of XFire's unique in-game messaging client. The underlying communications code could be used for a number of other applications, such as instant messaging bridges or cross-platform xfire clients.
