See issue 273. Crimson silently ignored this error on read, but it produces invalid XML which cannot be read by any other tool

Only applies to XTM2 and XTM2.1 writers. XTM1 already has this fixed

Sorry, something went wrong.
My mistake. XTM1 already does this, and XTM2 does not use xlink
