This page contains instructions for distribution creators how to add easy installation of applications using One Click Installer.

By providing easy way of installation of applications:

Instructions

  1. If there is no support for your packaging system in One Click Installer (list of supported packaging systems is on SupportedPackagingSystems page), ask your developers to create version which supports your packaging system . One Click Installer is written in Python (no compilation necessary) and has open sources, so modifying it is easy (and you can contact us on our devel mailing list in case of questions). Then contact us to add version for your distribution into One Click Installer downloads page.
  2. Bundle One Click Installer with your distribution.
  3. Ask your distribution packagers to prepare One Click Installer installation files, point them to this page: http://code.google.com/p/one-click-installer/wiki/InstructionsForPackagers
  4. Ask your translation teams to translate descriptions and names and update installation files with translated tags.
  5. Sign installation files created by your packagers using your distribution key (see CreatingOneClickInstallerFile) and post them on HTTP server in permanent place, so that they can be referenced from your users blogs, forums, articles in magazines and your distribution web pages. The files are signed, so by signing you assure users they download and install trusted software. You can update files stored on your HTTP server in case you want to improve installation options, URLs of repositories are changed, etc.
  6. Post links to installation files on your webpages, distribution CDs, etc. according to guidelines presented on ShowingInstallationLinkGuideline page.
  7. You can now boast installing apps in your distribution is easy for begginners.
