The foundation of OInvite is defined in OInvite Core, which is a binding-independent request/response format and verification protocol to initiate and respond to communications relationship requests originating across social-network or domain boundaries (e.g., a Google Buzz user desiring to follow a Twitter user's protected feed on Twitter).
