Project Description

This project site is for hosting designs, discussions, and code that provides an API for interacting (and specifically for publishing) with open education resource (OER) repositories.

The goal of the project is to develop or adapt existing protocols for publishing new learning materials in OER repositories. Common APIs will allow an ecosystem to grow around OER repositories or libraries to provide services and tools for creating, combining, editing, translating, adapting, publishing, and delivering learning content.

Project Phases

1. Design a publishing API for OER

• Background: Historical information on the design decisions
2. Implement the API
• Connexions OERPub API Service: The first OERPub implementation is in Connexions - an open source remixable repository
3. Build a Massive Content Enabler - a tool or service that uses the API to help a community publish and use open education content.
• V1: Connexions Importer (Converts common formats and uploads to Connexions)
• Background
4. Convince other repositories to implement the API also. This occurs throughout the project, but is even more compelling when authoring tools exists
