Check out http://www.delgine.com/ for the DeleD 3D level editor. It does what it does very well, and doesn't try to do too much. This .X exporter is an addition to the .X exporter that comes with DeleD, and includes some additional features (such as light maps, scaling, sharp creases, and shader parameters).
