How do I make NicePlayer my default video app?

  • Click and select a video file icon
  • Command I (get info window opens)
  • Click the popup menu associated with "Open with'" and choose NicePlayer
  • If NicePlayer is not an option then NicePlayer won't be able to play this movie type.
  • Chick the Change All button to make this the default player program

or

to change the default application fast and for all video filetypes I have on my mac I use this:

  • open a finder window
  • type "kind:movie" in the search field
  • click on the first found videofile and press "Command + Option + i". Now you have a permanent Info-Window for every file you highlight/select.
  • Click the "Open with" triangle and choose "NicePlayer"
  • Now you are able to check all the different videotypes by scrolling through your found-videos-list with the Down-Key on your keyboard and watch if the info window changes the "NicePlayer" entry back to Quicktime or RealPlayer or whatever for any file.

How Can I Play a DVD Movie?

The easiest thing to do is to drag either the DVD, or the DVD's VIDEO_TS folder (or any other VIDEO_TS folder) on to the NicePlayer application icon in the dock. If this doesn't work, chances are your folder is not a DVD. Note that your folders must have VIDEO_TS folders! Anything that doesn't play in Apple's DVD Player won't play in NicePlayer either (unless using some other third party plugin).
