14/08/08 I bit the bullet and ordered a http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7409 Hopefully it doesn't draw power from both PC inputs! I'm hoping when I issue the swap command it cuts the USB power.. More to come on this once it arrives(~2weeks). 14/08/08 Well.. I've reached my goal start date for coding.. However without being able to control glance while concience.. I'm a worried as to how to monitor it while I sleep. I've installed the NIA software onto my Asus EEE(701), however it doesn't have enough grunt to run NIA.exe and screen capture. Infact, the Celeron M(clocked at ~650Mhz) doesn't seem to be enough for the NIA at all. I'd try clock it to 900Mhz, But the EEE will probably overheat after 2-3 hours. Instead, I'm going to try it on my Asus EEE Box 202.. I just got this on Monday and I'm hoping the Atom N270(1.6Ghz) will be enough to acomlish the task. Failing that.. I have my HP Dualcore laptop.. That'll be my last resort tho, It gets quite hot after 4-5 hours of use.. But should be up to the job of recording my sleep for a full 8 hours. As for my other issue.. USB Lighting.. Not sure what to do there.. I can't seem to find a cheap device that can be software controled. Still looking into this, I'll see what else I can find over the weekend. -TFB I'm working on coding an simple app that will ignore input for an hour, from then on.. if the NIA triggers the program more than 20 times in a minute with eye movement, it will either play a chosen wav/ogg/mp3 audio file or possibly control a LED(looking at a few cheap options, all less than $10AUS & should be able to attach to the NIA headband), once the sequence is finished, the app will 'sleep' for a predefined period, most likely 30-45minutes, before looking for the next REM sleep cycle. Still sussing out all the details.. I will start Coding on or before 14th or 15th of this month.. with hopefully a 1-2 day developement time.. If anyone is interested in updates to this project or would like to team up to code it... Daniel@Dirtyhacks.com or http://code.google.com/p/nai-remdreamer/ -TFB --- Ideas: Dream Logger? Records Length of Dreams.. Date/Time. Would need aditional coding to monitor length.. But shouldn't be too hard Possible automated dream diary. CAn add a Dream Description to each system logged dream? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7089 http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/5a84/ --- |
