Nerdy is not yet stable for every day use

What is Nerdy?

Nerdy is an ultra light, ultra fast Media CentrE (Center) born from VLC ActiveX with a soft interface, NerdyMCE. Nerdy is built for Windows XP and Windows 7 32 bit. (x64 support coming)

Nerdy utilizes VLC ActiveX integration for blazing performance when compared to alternative Media Center software.

Why Nerdy?

Boxee, XBMC, WinMCE2005, Win7MC, MediaPortal, Media Center, and every StandAlone Player....

The list goes on and on. Everyone has a different take on what makes a Media Center application great, so why would I want to do this? Because VLC is great for low spec devices, and the video processing and compatibility results are generally the best implementation of FFDSHOW around.

Nerdy fills a gap for low spec HTPC machines. No accelerated graphics renderings or expensive overlay menus. Written in the ultra compatible and light weight .NET 2.0 Win Forms, with VLC at its Media Rendering Core targeting the Windows Platform. Nerdy runs blazing fast.

The Development Nerdy

The target development HTPC machine is running Windows XP Home SP3, with a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz (no hyper threading). It has an Integrated Intel Graphics: 865G, with a custom driver for 720p support. The machine has 512 Mb Ram which 128 Mb is shared with the video card.

Compatible File List

Nerdy supports virtually every format VLC supports, even Matroska (MKV) supported! Find more about supported formats here, as Nerdy matures features listings will be made to distinguish where Nerdy has actually Media Center support vs file compatibility. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.php
