The Neorology Project is a fun project to explore, experiment and document the creation of techniques, hardware and software, for the creation of artificial life and intelligence. Drawing inspiration through the biomimicry of naturally occurring examples. For a detailed explanation of biomimicry see :- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomimicry There has been much written about created Life and Intelligence, Computing Science is full of informed and erudite mathematical treatise and publications, Biological Sciences are similarly full of informed and erudite observations about the self organised life forms that we encounter, fighting for survival on a daily basis. Mechatronics is advancing in leaps and bounds bringing ever more capable devices into our everyday lives, from the automated hoover, to the bread maker and the complex robotics used in manufacturing and medicine. Much effort has been expended on these fields individually. The proponents of each remaining largely isolated from each other. Separated by their respective disciplines and a complete lack of understanding of the common ground they stand upon. To a Biologist only another Biologist can understand their field of endeavour. To a Computing Scientist and Mathematician, only another such, can understand their field of endeavour. Science and Technology though, is different views of the same unified big Elephant. This presents new opportunities to pear over the garden fence at what is on the other side, cross fertilise the gardens that it divides, and look afresh at the subject of created life and intelligence modelled on and inspired by what we encounter in our everyday existence. |
