issue 1 (patch - some bugfixes for Openfire compatibility) Status changed by billford   -   10/24/2008 -- Applied Patch from hakamadare via Google Code -- fixed config file issues -- added require directive to a couple modules -- added SSL / TLS / SASL -- added debug option for connection to Jabber server -- applied by BM I'm testing it all out on my dev server -- so far it's running fine but I have a suite of test tools to run against it. Look for a release with this patch tomorrow night at the latest.

issue 1 (patch - some bugfixes for Openfire compatibility) commented on by steveobob666   -   Steve - Thanks a lot for your patch! We're already working on the next release, which will include a much more interactive interface, and we are working on that nagios interface as well (nice to know someone else is interested as well). Look for your changes to show up in the next version! -- Steve McMaster

issue 1 (patch - some bugfixes for Openfire compatibility) reported by hakamadare   -   hey folks! this is nifty. thanks for releasing it :) i've attached a patch that addresses a few issues: 1) nagzilla-1.5.1 cannot possibly run when configured as documented; nagzillad.pl is looking for its config in /usr/local/src/nagzilla, not /etc/nagzillad. 2) it's easy to trip over missing Perl modules, and that can cause non-obvious failures (since you don't check for the return value of do); i added some calls to require at the beginning of each script that should barf if a necessary module is missing. 3) there doesn't seem to be any provision for SSL support; we enforce SSL on our chat server, and so i added config options to enable SSL and STARTTLS. 4) i added a flag to enable debug output from the various XMPP modules. 5) Openfire's Java libraries, unfortunately, have a stupid bug which makes them incompatible with the SASL auth implementation in Net::XMPP::Protocol. the Openfire people have known about this for three years, and they throw up their hands and blame Java; as such, i added an option to disable SASL. hope you like these additional options! i'm working on an init script of some sort, and perhaps implementing a different sort of daemonization; i'm finding that while my instance of nagzillad.pl keeps running, it drops its connection to the chat server after 5 minutes or so of inactivity, and after that any messages sent to it go into the bitbucket. -steve p.s. for future development: parse IMs sent to the nagzilla user and pass them through to the Nagios command pipe, to enable admins to acknowledge alerts by IM! i'll see if i can get something like that working, but don't hold your breath.
