This project is for translating Nokia N900's build-in UI text to other languages.

How to join us to improve the translations?

If your locale&language is not included in this project yet. Please create a new issue from "Issues" tab, tell me your locale, and I will create the translation files based on en_US as souce files.

All the translation work are hosting on transifex.net Please visit https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/n900-extra-translations/ To start the translation work, first, you need to register an account on this website. After login with your account, visit the link I pasted before, click on the button in "Options" column. DO NOT directly click on the language name links. Then, you can see lots of files listed. Click the "Edit" button in "Options" column to edit one file. After that, don't forget to save your changes.

Some notes for translators

There're 6276 strings need to be translated in total.

Some files I suggest to be translated at the end

gtk20.po, most of the strings in it are not used by any applications. And, most of useful strings are already translated, since I merged the work from maemo offical gtk project. Though some of the strings which are used somewhere are still not translated, you can check and fix them after the package is released. osso-countries and osso-cities, there are 243 + 399 strings in them, which I myself think are very heavy work to translate them. And they are only used in few places, and most people should understand the English meanings of them.

Do not translate osso-applet-screencalibration.po for those locales

Since in sceen calibration applet, the font is fixed, and it only supports few character, it could not display lots of characters like Chinese, Korean. So, for follow locales, do not translate this file: zh_CN, zh_HK, zh_TW, Korean

Update to PR1.2

Apr. 14th, I merged the new strings from PR1.2 (RC version).

In PR1.2, some strings are removed from old files. But I kept them in our translation project. Then, the install package will both work for PR1.1 and PR1.2 users.

Then new added strings are all not translated. Please refer to http://code.google.com/p/n900-extra-translations/source/detail?r=1352 , and you can find all new added strings here. Please help to translate these strings in your own locale.

I'm really sorry that this work cleared all the "Fuzzy" flags in transifex.net project. If you really need those flags, please mail to me or raise a issue, then I can revert the changes back.

Update to PR1.3

Oct. 27th, merged changes from PR1.3 Changes: 1. osso-tutorial.po file is totally changed, please re-translate it again. 2. osso-browser-ui.po only one string is updated:

msgid "weba_nc_geolocaton_dis" The English string is changed from "This site wants to know your location" to "Allow this site to know your location?" 3. osso-camera-ui.po only one string is updated: msgid "camera_ni_operation_writingfail" The English string is changed from "Writing of media failed" to "Saving failed"

Please re-translation the 1st one, and check if you need to update the 2nd and 3rd ones translations.
