ZELDA THE OCARINE OF TIME

Comment by wolfmanz51, Apr 13, 2008

the special compatibility list will be nice for the new Graphic plugs when this emu gets a stable wii release it will be very appreciated

Comment by jordanlins, Apr 27, 2008

The new version of the emulator is for Nintendo Gamecube yes?

Comment by emukidid, May 02, 2008

Yes and Wii.

Comment by Natzor, May 06, 2008

I cannot seem to get the Wii version to load the menu. I can get the emulator "running" but it loads the pink background for the menu and never loads the option. I'm trying this using the Twilight Hack, and I've thrown several different loaders at it, with no success. This is using the uncompressed build, none of the other builds even get that far for me.

Comment by tehpola, May 06, 2008

@ Natzor: There has not been a Wii release yet, but issues should be reported in the issue tracker rather than comments scattered about the wiki.

Comment by Supersonicboomer, May 24, 2008

YAY! Release for the Wii. So many games work too! Only problem is... They run at like 1/4 of the speed. Can't wait for another update.

Comment by IAMJJBRO1, May 24, 2008

did conker and banjo come with a ram pack?

Comment by cobolatrix, May 24, 2008

Banjo no but conker does.

Comment by maikel.steneker, May 25, 2008

@ cobolatrix: that's not true, Conker doesn't even use the RAM Pak.

Comment by passcual, May 25, 2008

i got a problem. when i try to play something (the included "jcube", goldeneye) it loads, but then, when i put Play Game, the screen turns black... and the game never starts.. HELP PLEASE

Comment by Kid.Idioteque, May 25, 2008

I tried New Tetris and it goes at 15 fps with sound. It has random black horizontally lines go across but it doesn't hang. Also, it has the same problem with the VC injections - it doesn't show the pieces falling when playing in game.

I also tried Harvest Moon 64 - it seems to hang immediately :- /

Comment by crwys123, May 25, 2008

Has anyone gotten buck bubmle to work? Or 007? It says its working but i have tried all 3 formats (using a converter, not renaming) and the screen just stays black.

Comment by patric...@pfsquad.nl, May 26, 2008

@ crwys123 > Goldeneye boots ... only takes about 5-10 minutes. Further tested

Banjo Kazooie > 15 FPS with soms slowdown untill selecting a game ... then cutscene at about 10-12 fps. (Haven't had enough patience to wait untill I could Play.

Game Banjo Kazooie GFX Slight textures issue Using Pure Interpreter

Side note : Dynarec gives green lines after 30 secs or so ... so stick with the interpreter ;)

Comment by crwys123, May 26, 2008

I was looking at the screen shots... I saw that buck bumble was working, but how long does it take for it to boot. And what file type should i use? I have a converter it follows as: byteswapped = .v64 littleindian = .n64 bigindian = .z64

I am going to try all three, but do you know which one works the best?

Comment by Kevo...@hotmail.fr, May 31, 2008

I've a big problem !!! When I load the Mupen64 r200 (GX graphic) with the BIOS Cobra 2.1, It launch it but I've only a big green screen !!! Not browser, not anything !! Only a big green screen -- Pleeaase help me ^^

Comment by TheChumdinger, Jun 03, 2008

I have played Diddy Kong Racing runs at ~7fps in a race. Question, does having the Wii in progressive mode and/or widescreen mode affect the emulation of roms?

Comment by JgeekW, Jun 08, 2008

is anyone playing 64 games at a normal speed? im trying to play golden eye, but its running anywhere from 1 to 4 fps. anyone else having this issue?

Comment by masterb...@yahoo.com, Jun 09, 2008

does the compatible games run at a full framerate?

Comment by crwys123, Jun 09, 2008

Sadly no.... I don't think any of the games listed underneath the compatible list will run at full frame rate. It is pretty decent though, just give the project some time, it will progress soon and the wait will be worth it.

Comment by phil.nelson, Jun 15, 2008

I get about 7fps in most games I've tried. What kind of speed tweaks are possible on the user end? Very excited about this project.

Comment by c.Leavenworth, Jun 16, 2008

Pokemon Snap is not working. Many huge graphical bugs and crappy sound. Control stick non-responsive in main game mode.

Comment by debm...@rochester.rr.com, Jun 20, 2008

Is there any way for us to get updates on the progress of this emulator? I understand it's a time consuming project, but it be nice to know as things get working better. Considering it's been nearly four weeks since the last release, what is working better? Or is it like at roadblocks or something?

Comment by murkanto...@hotmail.com, Jun 21, 2008

Perfect Dark loads and it detects an expansion pack (?). It plays the intros (splash screen, Rareware, Nintendo, Perfect Dark) then lockup occurs.

I know that there is no support for 8mb roms yet, but why does Perfect Dark detect an Expansion Pack...?

Comment by Melenor, Jun 24, 2008

Kirby 64 Crystal Shards doesn't really work, it loads but the graphics are completely weird, and off center.

Comment by OprahDust, Jun 25, 2008

Mario Kart 64 runs at 20 FPS, and plays at around 10 FPS, but all the graphics for the tracks are glitched

in my opinion it is not compatible yet

Comment by shadowlinkorama, Jun 26, 2008

Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA is playable, but like the others, has graphics issues and a low, low FPS count (10-20)

Comment by KrauserTheWingedArmMan, Jun 30, 2008

Star Fox runs but there's ground texture glitch out and the framerate is small, and this is only training...

Comment by ritabook06, Jun 30, 2008

So far Majora's Mask hasn't worked at all.

Comment by D.A.Hoying, Jun 30, 2008

Okay, Extreme G 2 plays at about fifteen fps, but the graphics randomly glitch, and constantly. But the game is still technically playable.

Comment by indigo.blue.jeans, Jul 05, 2008

Beetle Adventure Racing (U) runs and is almost playable. I actually expected less of it being an expansion pack game and all. The graphics are all distorded and so is the sound, but I was getting between 10-20FPS!

Comment by Zness24, Jul 06, 2008

God i wish Banjo Kazooie or Conkers bad fur day worked...

Comment by mathieu.massolo, Jul 07, 2008

WWF No Mercy runs at 7fps but without any sound.

Comment by mr.garylam, Jul 08, 2008

Bust a Move. Inconsistent frame rates ranging from 1 to 60fps. Cannot see the direction we are releasing the bubbles.

Comment by shaigh1, Jul 10, 2008

Dance Dance Revolution Disney Dancing Museum often runs through menus at a low but playable speed but when you go into a song it never gets above 1-2fps. Thanks for making this emulator, it would be fantastic if the frame rate could be improved.

Comment by Englandof66, Jul 10, 2008

For Super Smash Bros, the models appear normal but the sprites are very screwy. Sound is scratchy and FPS is 20-25.

Comment by corey.crossman, Jul 10, 2008

Playing kirby 64 at 11-16fps. barely playable

Comment by mhjr725, Jul 13, 2008

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon opening is running at about 15-20 FPS. Some graphics issues apparent (people in floor, houses not displaying, etc.) Just went down to 8 FPS. Actual game running at 6 FPS, bad sound, Goemon is not visible on screen.

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon: Not compatible.

Comment by kstraka, Jul 13, 2008

"New Tetris" loads but is not playable. No sound, some lines across the screen, and the tetris pieces are invisible until they lock into place, so you can't really play.

Comment by droozilla, Jul 16, 2008

Fighters Destiny is playable, 2d @ 30-60, 3d at about 10-15, haven't seen any gfx errors

Comment by thekrazybaby, Jul 19, 2008

sighs OVERALL...the games don't run! I've expected that at least for the Wii the fps issues were fixed...i guess i was wrong. I blame no one cuz every n64 emulator I played has given me the same problem but, PLEASE FIX IT ALREADY! cries

Comment by bernhard.bliem, Jul 21, 2008

It won't be that easy...

Comment by Evan.M.Naji, Jul 21, 2008

The fact that everyone seems to think that the main programmers on this project can magically fix "the fps/compatibility issues" by waving their magic C++ Wand of +5 INT and pointing it at the screen makes me sad. :|

Comment by Firefox6161, Jul 21, 2008

I agree with Evan M Naji - We get that the games aren't perfect, but the programmers don't have Magic C++ Wands of +5 INT, and even if they use their imagination no matter how many times they point the wand at the screen, it's not going to magically fix. Give 'em some time, mmkay?

Comment by dwmcc95, Jul 22, 2008

@Evan: ROFL

@Comments Board: It works for me, but a few of the games are VERY buggy on my Wii. Got it installed w/ HBC but the two games I tried (Supah Smash Bruddas and Kirby 64) are quite buggy. For SSB, I could probably get past the slow-down that it always seems to do on this emulator, it's not that big a deal, but the videos are bugged, and special effects don't work hardly at all. The UI is fuzzed and doubled up in most cases too. Sort of hard to play. Now, I love Kirby 64, but it's almost impossible to play on this emulator. Almost every environment is bugged. The videos hve big flying chunks of terrain obscuring things the whole time, as do the actual play areas. Just like in SSB, explosions and other special effects are either buggy or don't work at all. I know it is incredibly hard to sort out bugs (firsthand ><) and I applaud your efforts with the emulator, but unfortunately it just isn't working out so well... Changing the CPU core crashes the system so you have to do the full turn off (power for 6 sec.s) and turn it back on again for the Wii to work. These are a few of the problems I've experienced, and I can't think of any more at the moment. You've done a wonderful job with this, and I just can't see it being easy to fix these kinds of problems, but I EMPLORE you to follow through with the project, as you've definitely caught the attention of me, everyone here at this little comments area, and hundreds, probably thousands of people around the globe.

+rep :)

Comment by dwmcc95, Jul 22, 2008

Oops, it seems I found out the type of code this board uses for italics and bold and such things by accident... ><

As for Kirby and SSB, I will reword terrain flying everywhere to the graphics randomly glitch, and constantly. (thanks to D. A. Hoying for proper terminology)

And sorry for the double post.

Comment by BlizzaBlade, Jul 23, 2008

PLZ Where will they be another wii64 update I wanna play Conker badly

Comment by cmf1...@hotmail.com, Jul 23, 2008

I have been following the changes to the source code and I can defanitly say that most (if not all) graphics bugs have already been fixed. Specificly, warping terrain(like what what happening in SM64,Kirby,Starfox,and many other games),messed up 2d images (like what was happening with SSB's menus and backgrounds),and many other graphics glitches have been fixed as of the latest source code. As for the speed issues, tehpola is working very hard (and is almost finished) with the Dynamic Recompiler (which, once complete, should give full speed emulation). Sepp256,in addition to the graphics corrections mentioned already, has increased the speed of games by about 1-2FPS. Emukiddid ,in addition to the many optimisations he has made to the emulator, has added support for save states and has added a 4mb fix for some games (star wars ep. 1 racer, excite bike and many more)this update fixes many games that wouldn't work before.

Needless to say, there has been a whole lot that has been fixed, improved, and added since the latest publicly released DOL file. In fact, the things I have said here are only some of the many updates there have been to the emulator.

So, before you complain about this emulator, be sure to compile the latest version of it from the source code first. As many of the things you are complaining about have already been fixed.

Comment by storm101gfaqs, Jul 23, 2008

Thank you for that information. I don't know to compile the source code, though.

Comment by debm...@rochester.rr.com, Jul 28, 2008

Can't someone compile the latest version and make it available for download? It sounds like it's pretty playable at this point.

Comment by debm...@rochester.rr.com, Jul 28, 2008

Sorry for double posting, just was wondering if emukidid, tehpola, or sepp256 could give us an estimate for when they'll be ready to release another official version? I like what I'm hearing about it, but I'd like to try it for myself, since it seems pretty functional. I know I can compile the source code, but I've heard people getting corrupted files from using non-official versions. I so want to be able to use this channel!

Comment by emukidid, Jul 28, 2008

If a build sounds "pretty playable", chances are it's not. Only releases are "Pretty playable", and that's why they get released. Right now, the source is pending many fixes on various things so it wouldn't be much fun.

Comment by lamentofking2, Jul 29, 2008

i can't wait for the mario party trilogy to be playable. It seems like those games always have trouble on emulators.

Comment by micahkanchan, Jul 30, 2008

Great job with this emulator tehpola. I wish I could help somehow but sadly I dont know much about making software and stuff. My dream is to play Banjo Kazooie, Conkers Bad Fur Day and Goldeneye, and Donkey Kong 64 on this. So in my eyes I salute you for tryin to make this dream a reality. Thank you. :)

Comment by lamentofking2, Jul 31, 2008

games like goldeneye 007 pushed the original n64 to its limits. Playing it on the pc it can't even reach full speed unless you got a strong, fast comp. I would be amazed if full speed was achieved on the cube.

Comment by crwys123, Jul 31, 2008

Yes its a shame Nintendo doesn't sell any of these games any more (Besides like 12? of the virtual console) I use project64 to play n64 games on my comp, runs fine but its too hard to control and just not the same. Good luck with the project you guys!

Comment by lincolnd, Aug 15, 2008

Banjo Kazooie and Tooie intro runs at about 10fps and wont detect controller :( Really wanted to play these games, please get them working ;)

Comment by sidneycarton, Aug 16, 2008

No offense - but I have never played a game that ran decently on Mupen64 on my PC. It's a shame Mupen64 is the one being built for the Wii and not Project64. Project64 runs about a billion times better. From all these comments, it sounds like not a single N64 game runs decently on the Wii. Not to dog anyone's efforts, but what exactly is the point of releasing this to the public if not even a single game runs well?

Comment by lamentofking2, Aug 16, 2008

^^oh here we go....well for one sidney, the emulator is still in alpha stage. you tell me 1 emulator that runs every game perfectly in alpha stage?......I didn't think so. second, mupen64 seems to be the only/best portable emulator. project64 is windows exclusive and was made using C programming. Any console emulators that are ports usually means there is a linux port which makes every easier than any other OS. third mupen64 also seems to be the only one with a GNU General Public License. Which makes it legal for people to port, code, etc.

So no you more than likely won't see pj64 for wii. The day you start seeing windows based emulators is the day that every console is windows based. Yes I agree project64 runs better but since it was never ported to linux it would probably be worse than what wii64 is now.

P.S. they are releasing it to the public so that others can test it and then can tell them what problems they are having and what games run and which don't hence the "compatibility list".

Comment by Brainy142, Aug 20, 2008

Guys just be patent and wait... If they need testers they will ask and these guys will only make STABLE releases. (non stable= bad)

Comment by MACROSAINT, Oct 22, 2008

You know, all you guys who complain about this emu and the time its taken to work good... we are in the internet age, and exist a single method to play any -almost- game you want in the wii: The Injection Process.

When i say almost is because i cannot play, nor whit the emu, nor whit the injection method, Dance Dance revolution: Disney Dancing Museum TT

In the other hand, i can play SSM injected. Besides, i must remember we are not paying a single dollar to this guys to do this emulator. its not their obligation. All i can say is: GOOD LUCK YA` GUYS!!! WE HAVE HUGE EXPECTATIONS ABOUT YOUR WORK!

P.D. i`m not from America, so, excuse my poor english XP

Comment by Anonymous.User120, Oct 26, 2008

banjo has no sound. works @ 17fps max

Comment by besserwi...@web.de, Nov 01, 2008

Diddy Kong Racing loads, but has many graphical errors in the intro(black pieces, bad-colored pieces) and is darn slow. There's no Sound(but weird sounds when "toggle audio" is turned on)

ingame, its max 11 FPS, so in no way playable. Also the same graphical bugs are ingame too... What a pity :( In races, its around 8 FPS...

MP2 downst work too... i give it up ;D grin

Do you best, buddies! Some games already work a bit, so im sure you can make a splendid emulator! Kirby is quite slow and has graphical errors, but sound is pretty better than the other two games.

Bimberman 64: around 15-35 FPS, but just black with the Font being viewable. Also again Sound is robotty

Comment by GreyAcumen, Nov 07, 2008

My only issue with this is that there are a lot of liberties being taken with the term "playable"

I would personally would like to see a slightly different scale used: Not Working - doesn't work/load Not Runnable - loads, but cannot get to any point where input is recognized (main title screen)

Runnable (Unstable) - can run, but crashes Runnable (Slow) - can run, but does not reach more than 75% normal game speed Runnable (Glitches) - can run, but has significant graphical or gameplay flaws

Playable - Stable, none of the errors listed under "runnable", possibly lacking features, such as rumble support, memory pack saves, in game saves, game specific features like microphone support for "Hey You Pikachu" or other similar issues.

Perfect - Game can be played and has all features that would be available when playing on a standard console.

Other than that, I'm not even rushing these guys. I'm looking forward to when I can use my Wii to play my entire Nintendo library, but in the meantime, I can still use my PC.

Comment by addydmasi, Nov 08, 2008

i use project64 and are z64 files supported (or zip folders)???

Comment by gmanvol, Nov 15, 2008

How do i download these

Comment by bobdefa...@yahoo.com, Nov 18, 2008

Yeah, slow and whatever - great start, loads are clean and not crashing or bricking anything. Polygons are clean with no glitches in movement, even in complicated gfx.

Me likely what I see. The 64 is a monster to emulate, ain't it? That's why it's better than PS1 - all the games are filled with love ;-)

Comment by hyperhacker, Nov 19, 2008

I just tried Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64 (USA versions), both had the same problems. Polygons are flying all over the place; it looks like the vertex cache is not emulated properly or there are too many vertices being drawn. The sound kinda sounds like a cyborg built out of old Atari consoles. They run at about 15 FPS. Trying to use the dynamic recompiler crashes the emulator.

I know a fair bit about F3DEX, as I've hacked Mario Kart's levels (look up rekcaHrepyH on Youtube) and they're made up mostly of F3DEX code. So if you need help with that, give me a shout.

Would .v64 vs .z64 make a difference?

Comment by Battleslayer277, Dec 24, 2008

Starcraft 64 = Dosn't work one bit, freezes once load. will try again when i do some other things.

Dr. Mario 64 = Same thing

Harvest Moon 64 = Didnt give it enough time, will try again

HOWEVER MUPEN64PLUS seems to be a Windows emu if someone can get it running on the wii PLEASE E-Mail me directions, because i've yet to see a .dol or a .elf file in there releaces. i'll try more gaves for you foke!

P.S. GOOD JOB! Credits could use some work, but how ever nice job wish i had the brains and time to do this!

Comment by Battleslayer277, Dec 24, 2008

Sorry for the double post, how ever, i let the listed games rub 10 minuites and they will not load. Now, Vigatie 8 2nd Offence will crash and dump on you, LoZ OoT MQ Works, during text 33 - 35 fps during videos 20 - 25 fps and land is everywere and is glitchy. Thought i'd alert everyone on 2 other games

do I need a mod-chip for dvd support on wii64 ?

Comment by jobhartjes, Jan 29, 2009

@Battleslayer277 It says "playable", they do not claim these games run perfect, just that you could play them.

Here's the link

Is Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon working?

Comment by school.player, Feb 16, 2009

Mario Kart 64- Playable, slow, but lots f GFX issues when racing Overall:Not Playable (unless you REALLY don't mind random textures appearing)

Super Smash Bros.- Slow all around, 2D pictures distorted, missing some SFX, 3D sprites work perfectly. Overall-Playable, you just can't read text. However, since you should OWN THE ACTUAL GAME (Ahem...) you should know what everything says.

Duke Nukem: Zero Hour - Menu works, multiplayer does not, seems to crash (or freeze) upon starting up a multiplayer game. Unsure about single player mode, it is very slow, and the graphics are very blurry and distorted.

Comment by ibarnaby64, Feb 22, 2009

@ProwlDylan?, yes, it is. BUT Goemon himself is completely invisible (yet he still casts a shadow).

Definately playable though.

Yeah, Resident Evil 2 doesn't seem to work at all. I'm using the latest Wii version. I should look for a rom of Jet Force Gemini, one of my favorite games, because its a simple game that shouldn't suffer at all from loss of textures.

Nice job so far guys, the emulation lok svery good so far, just slow. but that's to be expected yet.

I was wondering what the final UI plans are for this? I think it would be great if it had the same UI setup as SNES9x GX for wii, and Virtual Boy Advance GX for wii. The gamecube version can do whatever it wants, but those two UIs on the wii are the most professional looking ones I have seen.

i hope they get jet force gemeni to work, one if the most under ratted party games

Comment by chasehammer, May 23, 2009

i think the games are pretty sad for something that has had a year more and still nothing new. I think its a lost cause. thanks for trying but it doesnt work.

and just because the game runs doesnt mean its compatible, which would mean it runs fine...which it doesnt. again thanks for the effort but its dead.

Can someone please tell me where to go to get the ROM files so I can load them on the SD card...I am new to this and not sure where it is to locate the games...

Thanks; Scott

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong...

I download the ROMS and placed them in a folder called N64ROMS in the main directory on the SD CARD....

I placed the ROM that ends in the z64 into the N64ROMS folder and then launched the EMULATOR. When I go to LOAD the ROM I get an error message...

Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong....please contact me...

THANKS!!!!

okay so I was wondering if you would mind if I use this break off of mupen since it can play goldeneye 007 on wii to try and connect it to online. I want to just have it to play goldeneye 007 online. Like I do on my PC, but playing on wii once again would be great with the new maps and i think a lot more people would get on and it would bring a lot more people to wii and homebrew. If I could get your permission that would be great. If you could email me at napkinsterror@gmail.com that would be great....or if you did it i bet you would do a better job haha but i am up for a challenge. PS no promises here just going to try it out. I know that a lot of ppl don't play mupen online as they do on project64 but if i do this maybe that will change.
