Add-in files under 2007 folder has Office2007 ribbon interface, and they work on Office2007 but does not work on older Office.

Add-in files under 97-2003 folder has legacy menu and toolbar interface, and they work on Office97 to Office2007. Of course I recommend you to install ribbon interface add-in files under 2007 folder for Office2007.

Office97SR2 to Office2003

Excel

1. Copy files of Excel add-in to the following folders.

  • excelsvn.ini

Office2000 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library\
Office XP C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Library\
Office2003 %APPDATA%\Microsoft\AddIns\

%APPDATA% means the "Application Data folder" of the login user.

For example, when the login user is "koki", %APPDATA% points the following folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\koki\Application Data

If you input the %APPDATA% to the address bar of Explorer, it displays "Application Data folder".

2. Start Excel and check Excelsvn check box in [Tool]/[Add-Ins...] of main menu.

3. [Subversion] menu and the command bar appear.

4. Select pptsvn.ppa in [Tool]/[Add-Ins...]/[Add]. Then, checked pptsvn item is displayed on the list in Addin dialog box. And, Subversion menu and tool bar are displayed on main menu.

5. Go back to [Tool]/[Option]/[Security]/[Macro Security]/[Security Level], and set the security level back to the original setting.

For installation, look at %APPDATA% for file paths, e.g. %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\.

appdata path for windows vista 32 bits, please???

Comment by davidbea...@gmail.com, Apr 1, 2010

Confirmed this works in Office 2010 Beta.

However, on x64 installations of windows, read/writes to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE by 32bit programs are redirected to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node?

This means that word will throw up a 80007002 error when it tries to read the registry because TortoiseSVN doesn't make keys in that spot. The solution is to duplicate the HKLM\Software\TortoiseSVN keys to HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node?\TortoiseSVN and then this macro will work just fine.

Hello there, Place the files using Office2003 on "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\AddIns?\" does not work. But i place files here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP And then works fine.

Great software by the way, very usefull, congratulations.

Office 2010 and Win 7 Pro 64bit While putting the powerpoint addin into the place indicated above I cannot find the addin to enable in the dialog. You would have to press "Go" while having "PowerPoint? Add-ins" selected and you will be taken to a file browser dialog to "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\AddIns?\" and you will need to select the plugin for it to work.
