would love to see an automatic handling of BMP files by converting them to a 
compressed lossless image format e.g. PNG (with an appropriate colour depth)

BMP files should not be used as part of web elements sure, but in practice I 
have run across a few client sites where this still occurs and it is not 
possible to either convert the file manually or retrain users.
