No beta at the moment, keep an eye on @Mobbler for updates.

Thank you for all the help beta testing past releases!

Could you please send me a beta version for Nokia N8. I am running into mobbler crash issue while using Mobbler version 1.09(265) since I really enjoy it and cannot wait until the final version release. Thanks a lot.

Best Regards, Mobbler Subscriber: peterduhy09

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Oct 19, 2010

Peterduhy09, we'll have a new beta out quite soon, please follow the instructions above and be patient to be sure to be amongst the very first to get it. Thanks!

So far - so good. Works a charm on my N8. This is one great app. Cant wait to show the guys at work in the morning.

Comment by boo...@gmail.com, Nov 11, 2010

Its working well on my N8, but is there any way to play my playlist with Mobbler?

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 12, 2010

booey1, it's mentioned above:

  • Removed discontinued Loved Tracks and Playlists radio station

The playlist and loved tracks stations will be discontinued from 17th November, so we've removed them in the beta to be ready for that. However, we have added the brand new Mix Radio station.

Comment by boo...@gmail.com, Nov 12, 2010

thanks hugovk for the reply. I am new to lastFM, so still trying to figure out what i can do with mobbler as a result.

Just one more qesution.. Am i correct in saying that there is no way to play just a specific song? Say i wanted to listen to the song Eminence Front by The Who.. When i search for it, i find it, but the only option is to add it to my playlist. I do not see any option to just play it with mobbler.

Or for that matter, can I browse my library and play a specific title? or is the concept of lastFM to just randomly play you favorite artists in your library?

thanks again for the help!

Comment by diogogom...@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2010

Does it now scrobbles other players like LCG Jukebox?

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2010

diogogomes11, no, just the built-in player and the Last.fm stations. See issue 162, issue 163, issue 399 and issue 556.

booey1,

> Am i correct in saying that there is no way to play just a specific song?

You're correct, you can't play just a specific song. Mobbler plays Last.fm's internet radio stations, so you can't choose what to play.

> Or for that matter, can I browse my library and play a specific title?

Same thing, it's an internet radio station.

> or is the concept of lastFM to just randomly play you favorite artists in your library?

Sort of, but there's much more to it. You can listen to stuff in a normal mp3 player and "scrobble" it your Last.fm profile. Last.fm can then play a number of different stations for you based on the stuff you've listened to before. And more still.

Hi, is it possible to listen multitag radio with the new version?. And is it any way to look at my favorite songs? thanks

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2010

juandasala, I don't think there's a Last.fm API for multitag radio, so no.

Last.fm are discontinung loved track radio from 17th November (as mentioned above, and see link) so we removed it. We've added the brand new Mix Radio though!Or did you mean being able to just view the loved tracks list?

Comment by daniel.s...@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2010

When can we expect the next Beta Version? With the Version 0.10.80 there are too many bugs....

Comment by juandas...@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2010

hugovk, Thanks for your answer. Yes, i mean just view the loved tracks list. Is it possible?

Comment by boo...@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2010

oh man, I didnt know you have to pay for a lastFM subscription to use Mobbler? I am in the US, but still have to pay for subscription to use lastFM now?

that really stinks.. may have to switch to something else now.. there are too many free alternatives out there now to have to pay for this

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 14, 2010

booey1, in the UK/US/Germany, you don't need a subscription to listen to radio with the official desktop client, but do to listen to radio with third party clients. You don't need a subscription to scrobble stuff and use all the other amazing free features.

Comment by boo...@gmail.com, Nov 14, 2010

thanks hugovk.. i was in the car with my wife, and showed her mobbler before my lastFM trial was over, and she fell in love with it.

So now I have paid for lastFM subscription so I can use mobbler in my car :) thank you for providing this great app mobbler for my Nokia N8.

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 14, 2010

booey1, happy Mobbling!

Comment by juan...@gmail.com, Nov 14, 2010

When will be disabled the free radio on the 1.09(265) version of mobbler?

Comment by flip1...@gmail.com, Nov 15, 2010

Why must I pay for this app on symbian but my android device gets it for free? If your going to charge you should make it the same on all platforms. Looks like I'll just have to remove it from my nokia n8 and just use the free version on my droid X.

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 15, 2010

juandsv, I've no idea when Last.fm will disable the free radio in the old version. It could be any time between now and a few months.

flip1199, you don't have to pay anything for this application on Symbian. Ask for a refund immediately from whoever you paid and download it for free from this site. Mobbler is a free open source application done for free in spare time. We don't charge anything for Mobbler, it's free as in beer and as in speech. Mobbler is a third party Last.fm client. Last.fm can decide who to charge and for what, it's out of our control. Only streaming radio requires a subscription, all the other really cool features are free. Enjoy your Droid X!

Comment by daniel.s...@gmail.com, Nov 17, 2010

Any idea about a next beta? Can I try any new Betaversion, if there is any out there?:-)I would like to test it on my N8!

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 17, 2010

daniel.schmitz74, No new beta just yet at least, but you'll be very welcome to test it. If you've already got the current beta, it'll auto-update when a new one is out. And we'll probably send an email to the list too.

Comment by teh.stap...@gmail.com, Nov 17, 2010

used this for a day or two now, suddenly its asking for a subscription! Is this app not free on other phones? whats the deal with that?

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 17, 2010

teh.stapler, please read the top of this page.

Comment by mezca...@gmail.com, Nov 25, 2010

App looks good, guys. My N8 said that the ErrRd? app was not compatible with the phone though so I quit that install. Anyone know if it actually works on S^3? Happy to install it if so.

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 26, 2010

ErrRd? works fine on S3, I have it on my N8. Just ignore the warning, the sisx just needs updating to include S3. I'll do that later.

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Nov 26, 2010

OK, updated ErrRd?.sisx to include Symbian^3, see above.

Comment by mezca...@gmail.com, Dec 11, 2010

Got it. Thanks.

Comment by Enriqu...@gmail.com, Dec 12, 2010

What's the deal with having to pay for this app on my N8? Very disappointing!!!

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Dec 13, 2010

Enrique71, Mobbler is a third party application and has always been free. Last.fm have decided to only allow streaming radio to third party apps to paying subscribers. Please ask Last.fm what the deal is!!! :)

Comment by Enriqu...@gmail.com, Dec 13, 2010

@hugovk,

I understand, but on my non-Symbian3 phones (N82, N86) Last.FM through Mobbler still streams just fine without issues. I read the explanation above, but am I to believe that ALL phones (ios, android, etc) OTHER than Symbian3 get free streaming via Mobbler ?

If true, this is unbelievably unfair.

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Dec 13, 2010

> I understand, but on my non-Symbian3 phones (N82, N86) Last.FM through Mobbler still streams just fine without issues.

"Mobbler versions 0.10.x and 1.10.x uses the official Last.fm radio API which only allows paying subscribers to stream the radio... If you have an S60 phone (i.e. pre-N8/Symbian^3) an older version may still stream radio until Last.fm disable it."

Mobbler 0.09(x) and 1.09(x) and older versions uses the unofficial radio API that we weren't really meant to use, and may still work for everyone until Last.fm disables it.

Mobbler 0.10(x) and 1.10(x) uses the official radio API we're meant to use -- streaming for subscribers only.

It just so happens that older versions don't work on Symbian3 due to volume and equaliser bugs. It just so happens these were fixed the same time we started using the official radio API.

So if you are not a subscriber, and install Mobbler 0.10.x on your non-Symbian3 devices, you can't stream.

> I read the explanation above, but am I to believe that ALL phones (ios, android, etc) OTHER than Symbian3 get free streaming via Mobbler ?

No. Mobbler has only ever been for Symbian devices, and is likely to remain that way. Android, iOS, etc phones can't install Mobbler.

I believe Android, iOS, etc phones can either install official Last.fm clients with free streaming (if available), or third party clients that will have used an official or unofficial API like we have. (I think some of them aren't even allowed to use the official API for subscribers.)

May I remind you Mobbler is a free, open source project done by people in our spare time for free. If we had the money we'd love to pay the licensing fees for the thousands of Mobbler users out there to stream for free. Sorry.

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Dec 14, 2010

> Thanks for your explanation and help, it's much appreciated. Last question, can I install a non-beta version on my N8 which still streams? Or is the current beta version the only one which works on Symbian 3 ?

The 0.10(x) beta is the only version which streams radio on Symbian3.

OMG Thank you so much, had been trying to work the dang thing for ages, was ready to throw thr Fing phone then, used this test download thingy! Work straight away just perfect. Thanks again x x x x x x x x

Comment by voltolin...@gmail.com, Jan 30, 2011

Nokia C3?

Comment by project member hugovk@gmail.com, Jan 31, 2011

Voltolin, the Nokia C3 isn't supported because it's a Series 40 phone. Mobbler is for S60 and Symbian phones.
