FAQ

What makes Mitter different from other Twitter clients?

Well, first of all, Mitter is a Twitter client because... well, because Twitter is the only protocol we support right now. Mitter design supports multiple networks and multiple interfaces.

What are the Mitter requirements?

Basically, an internet connection. Because of the ability to use multiple interfaces, Mitter comes with console interfaces and, at this point, a PyGTK interface. If you don't have X or PyGTK installed, it will start with a console interface.

Still, even in PyGTK interface, all you need is... PyGTK! No extra requirements.

Why can't I click the URLs?

The reason is that the clickable URLs is not supported in PyGTK. For that, we would probably need something like LibSexy and that's not what we are looking for at this point (remember, we don't want extra requirements.)

Why can't I edit the message when doing a repost (retweet)?

On Twitter, retweets started as a user thing: People added a RT in front of the message and posted it. Later, Twitter added the feature in the API, but without the option to add something before the RT itself (in other words, you repost the message directly instead of having a chance to edit the message.) We decided to follow the API way of doing it instead of the community way because it is easier to support a single way instead of two different ways and because it keeps the timeline clean (if two users retweet a message in your timeline with the old way, you get two messages; with the API way, you'll get just one.)
