"I was actually thinking about creating a template for mobiles for my blog earlier today. Here you are introducing me to this killer application.

This is awesome, the rendered website looks exactly I had Imagined !"

Introduction

The Mobilize by Mippin Wordpress Plugin is a configuration free add on. Once installed any cell phone accessing your URL will be redirected to the Mippin rendering of your blog. Really cool plug in, but would be great if there was a way for it to list pages too - just a link at the top, with configurable text that goes to a list of all the pages (maybe a tie-in with the mylinkorder plugin, so you could order the links?) - I really like the look of the mippin page, but I do need to allow mobile access to the pages on my site as well as the posts...

cheers

Hi Steve, thanks for your kind comments about the plugin and Mippin. The wordpress plugin can mobilize any blog with an RSS feed and that is how you currently have it setup. For each RSS feed you can create a Mippin site - so potentially you could have several sites all with your content in it eg You-tube has a RSS feeds and these could be used to create a Steve Lawson Video Mippin site (we ensure the videos work on all phones). So you could create a whole set of sites - if you went down this route then let us know and we could look at creating a Steve Lawson channel on Mippin - ie collecting all the sites together under a single Channel heading.

I love the concept, but I'd really like to be able to add pages -- or at least an about/contact page. It would be ok if this were even done through Mippin -- if there were a link at the bottom of my blog on Mippin where users could see a small profile and be able to contact me. I would also really like the option to keep images in line with the text (maybe just put them above the next paragraph), as well as including a link back to the site where the user could see it in its non-mobile version if they'd like for some reason. Anyway, very cool concept, and I'm excited to see how it develops.

This is great. There is also WPTouch made here in Vancouver to address a similar problem. In case you want more flexibility (your site is complex, or involves user interaction) try mobifying it as well - http://mobify.me

Hey this is a great idea for a plugin! I tried installing it on my Wordpress weblog. I activated it and added my Mippin ID and still it doesn't redirect my blog to the Mippin site on phone browser. I tested with my Nokia N95 and the Opera Mini simulator (http://www.opera.com/mini/demo/).

OK sorry I forgot to clear my WP cache. It works awesomely now. THANKS!

Well, in general, a nice and carefree solution for the less tekkie users. However, if you want to use your own mobile templates, include (mobile) advertising and such, Mippin is by far not the right solution. I'd really recommend giving the Wordpress Mobile Plugin ( http://wordpressmobile.mobi/ ) a try..
