The messages are sent as plain text like normal web traffic, but that Mia functions perfectly fine over port 443 (https) and thus can be encrypted for secure conversations.

This product is outstanding. I downloaded it, got it setup on mysql server with now problems. I planned to use this a communications tool with my family world wide. Once I installed it I sent the info to my family and the past two days I don't think it has not been used. I truly suggest this to all who want to have a reliable chat application on their personal sites.
