We openly welcome an active community as a part of the creative process and wish to encourage the creation of additional story to our game projects. In order to have some semblance of order and to allow for there to be a single source where all ''official'' backstory can be located, we have devised the policy below. Our desire is not to restrict creativity, and any individual is free to create whatever work they will independant of us, we do not support any unofficial story and any publication of such with our name is highly undesireable. Our policy may change at any time, without any notice, so be sure to check it before submitting any work you may have created. PolicyOur policy when dealing with fan-fiction and the continuity of a game's world story. - Only what is supported by us as official canon is an official part of a storyline.
- Any work not submitted to us is, by definition, unsupported.
- Any work that is submitted is pending and is therefore unsupported until we specifically state that it is to be included in the official canon.
- Any conflict with existing canon will be grounds for automatic rejection by us.
- Multiple items received concurrently will be reviewed independently of each other and will be accepted based on the order the works were received.
- No "alternate" story lines will be considered, including but not limited to:
- Describing a previous work as a dream sequence,
- Any use of time-travel,
- Or other continuity altering events.
- All existing canon cannot be altered, unless a submission is discovered to contain a previously overlooked conflict.
- Any work submitted to us becomes our property for the purpose of copyright law, though we include the names of those who submit works on our site.
GuidelinesWhen submitting fan-fiction, please consider the following: - Be aware of all existing canon including all officially supported submissions and avoid conflicts as early in the writing process as possible.
- If your work is rejected due to a conflict, you may edit and resubmit your work.
- Some works may be rejected on the grounds that a well known individual or group behaves inconsistently with established behavior patterns.
Submission and Review Process- Send the full text of your work to community@decoymedia.com with the project name (ours, not yours) followed by "fan-fiction".
- Include a title, author, preferred contact information and citations of any previous work referenced.
- The review process may take some time to ensure consistency with existing canon. You will be notified of the rejection or inclusion of your work via email at the time of the work's posting on our site.
