MapStudio Open Source is an editor for configuring MapGuide Open Source related data. It is written in C#, targeting the .Net FrameWork 1.1. It consists of a GUI application and a client library.

The application is a free open source alternative to the Autodesk© program MapGuide Studio©. The focus on the application is to create an expandable GUI client. The license is chosen as LGPL, so that commercial companies may add on proprietary extensions to the application, compiled as modules. The client library exposes the internal MapGuide XML as .Net classes, thus allowing easier modification with full intelli-sense© support.

Features unique to MapStudio OS

Features unique to MapGuide Studio©

The project will hopefully support all features of the MapGuide Open Source project. Third party closed-source extensions may provide the missing functionality. The project should currently be considered ALPHA software! The project is released in the current ALPHA state, in the hope that others will consider contributing code to the project. There are many loose ends in the project, but you may enter bugs/suggestions and others in the issue tracker.

There are currently no user guides, if you would like to contribute, you can create an issue, which I will respond to.

There is currently no roadmap avalible.

2008-01-26: Support for fusion applications

2008-02-19: It is now possible to translate the application into another language

2008-03-05: Added pages to describe how to use the API, and an overview of the code structure in the API. Hopefully there will be a simillar guide to the GUI soon.

2008-03-25: Spanish translation is now included in version 1.0.5, thanks to José Manuel Cerrejon Gonzalez of Mapas SL.

2008-04-15: The 1.0.6 release has customized editors for each known FDO provider. It is now possible to edit the built-in commands in a WebLayout. Once again José has provided a spanish translation.
