MajeRe aims to be a full statistics environment that does more than merely provide a graphical interface to GNU R. While full scripting capabilities will remain available to the user, focus will be shifted to providing a quick, intuitive interface for easily manipulating data, performing analyses, reviewing results and building figures.

The main, novel feature of MajeRe will be its use as a "consensus" statistics environment. In statistics, there are often more than one approach to analyzing your data. The new or, otherwise, casual user may be overwhelmed by the possibilities and unsure of which direction to take. The experienced user may not want to sift through irrelevant options in order to find the desired function. MajeRe will analyze user-defined groups of data objects and suggest appropriate analyses or plots. This analysis will be based on both the user's personal history and, optionally, on an online repository of all users' histories.

MajeRe will provide an intuitive, persistent environment that is ideal for large projects. Analyses are stored and easily manipulated, causing immediate changes in the respective results. Figures, too, will be stored for quick retrieval. While these options are available within R itself, MajeRe will extend the functionality through the intuitiveness and the ease of organization of a graphical interface.
