Updates to MacFUSE and MacFusion
If an update to MacFUSE appears before an update to MacFusion, should I refrain from updating my MacFUSE installation?
- At launch time, MacFusion performs MacFUSE-oriented checks
- if your only use of MacFUSE is for MacFusion, await advice from MacFusion developers before updating or upgrading MacFUSE
- if MacFusion is not tested with a particular version of MacFUSE, MacFusion may (properly) not launch
- if a security issue arises, exceptional action may be advised.
Unless advised otherwise, please:
- set the MacFusion preference to [√] Check for Updates on Startup
- wait for MacFusion to announce recommended updates.
- MacFusion uses Sparkle technology to automate these announcements and installations.

I launched MacFusion but I can't see it running. Where is it?
- MacFusion 1 is a menu extra without a Dock icon
- look for the grey globe+arrows icon in your menu bar
- probably to the left of other icons with which you're familiar
- the menu extra icon and menus in general are discussed amongst the other issues.
- Dock and menu extra preferences may appear in a future release.
How do I install, disable or remove plug-ins for MacFusion?
Recommended:
- file at path /Library/Application Support/MacFusion/plugins/
Alternatively, in the home directory:
- file at path ~/Library/Application Support/MacFusion/plugins/
Functional but not recommended, within the MacFusion application bundle:
- Finder | select MacFusion | File menu | Get Info | Plug-Ins: …
- plug-ins added in this way may not be respected during udpates/upgrades to MacFusion
After using Finder to manipulate any plug-in:
- Quit from MacFusion
- re-launch MacFusion.

Is there a way to make macfusion mount a favorite mount via applescript? I am asking because I am using Shimo as my VPN front-end and it allows for execution of applescripts on connect and disconnect. Would be nice to have my mounts automatically mount when shimo connected. You can contact me reguarding this at codebowl AT gmail DOT com
how do you know which version of macFuse your verson of MacFusion? supports?
MacFusion? currently requires MacFUSE-Core-0.4.0.dmg why is it so hard to find this out? i had to reinstall 3 different versions of macfuse ;\ and macfuse has no instructions for mounting ftp with passwords either!
so damn hard.
If you are using MacFusion? and Little Snitch 2, you may experience issues at least with FTP. (The mounting hangs, then fails after a while sometimes with a popup from Little Snitch, sometimes not.) The solution is to allow all necessary communication manually. Open the Little Snitch Configuration and allow ports for the application MacFusion?, i.e. "allow any connection on any port to any server". Please note that although MacFusion? uses the bundled curlftpfs-static console tool for the actual mount, Little Snitch is clever enough to realize that MacFusion? is the masterbrain behind this request. Therefore you should select MacFusion? and not curlftpfs-static as the application for the Little Snitch filter rule.
Why mounted servers do not appear in Finder as connected servers or mounted drives?
