Lyricus is a minimalist lyric reader for OS X. I started developing in part out of boredom, but also in part because I was missing something small to read lyrics in. Before Lyricus, I used Firefox, but with the lyrics in one tab, you have to switch back and forth a lot. I could have used a new, sized down window, but I wanted to practice Cocoa as well!
SVN note: I've previously relied on Xcode's snapshots feature to take backups in between svn commits, to make sure that the trunk always works. Well, not anymore, because that feature is bugged bigtime. The trunk may contain all kinds of stuff now, including features that will never make in into a release. Get the latest tag if you want to look at working source.
See LyricusFeatures for a list of features.
Two pictures: The main lyric window (0.70), The preferences window (0.76)
The download is up for grabs (10.5+, Universal Binary)! Please, please, please report all and any bugs and/or feature requests, either using the issue tracker on this site, or via email (serenity@exscape.org). I'm the only dev, and I'm also the QA team. ;) If you don't tell me, I will likely never find out, and thus never fix the problem!
As you might notice, I need an icon! If you're any good with icon design, please contact me. The default icon is a lot better than what I could do, so I left it at that for this beta test.
BTW, note that it is, and will stay, Leopard only. Apple wasn't lying when they said that there were many things for the programmers in Leopard. This will only change if the project grows huge - and I can't imagine that happening, I'm afraid (or perhaps thankful).
April 11 update: The project is kind of at a standstill. I'm not sure what more to add, and the only known bug isn't too major (see the Issues tab above), and I don't know how to fix it. I guess I could (or should?) rename 0.71 to 1.0 if nothing more pops up soon.
