Live CD freezes at the Live Android screen on my Dell Inspiron 1545. I was able to run it in VirtualBox? OSE, though I got the %15 battery message there that others have reported.

Comment by Scotty...@gmail.com, Jul 14, 2009

I tried it on my desktop and I saw only screen with text "Live Android". Graphic card - Ati Radeon X1600Pro?...

Comment by andrew.f.allen, Jul 14, 2009

Works fine with VirtualBox? 3.02 r49928 (latest). My config has 128MB RAM, 12MB for video. (selected Linux, other for OS). Can confirm the 15% battery on start. Did some browsing and sometimes had browser freeze (wait..close), but can't see a pattern yet.

I'm going to try reducing the memory to see what the min footprint is :-)

Comment by mlipocky, Jul 14, 2009

You may have done something wrong if it freezes to you. ...or you may have incorrectly merged the split iso files.

I mapped iso inside the Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007. I merged the files with the following dos command: > copy /B file.001.iso + file.002.iso file.iso

Not freezing to me at all!

Comment by lucast1533, Jul 14, 2009

Using Parallels, it didn't work with "Other" as OS. Worked when I changed OS to "Linux" and "Other Linux"

Comment by certifiedgeek05, Jul 14, 2009

Used Virtual PC 2007 selected "Other" and configured it with 128mb, GUI froze instantly. :(

Comment by anuiz2, Jul 14, 2009

Hi, can anyone tell me the md5 sum for liveandroidv0.2.iso.001 and liveandroidv0.2.iso.002? (mine: 001=27d13a0df3ee3c3a5fa0dbd8e6532c6f, 002=ac0ca2ebf9551885dd7615e4843dc4b9)

After I joined them, the md5 came to be 6d4ca1e49850ce066eb5a7a780101db3, and the system halted on the desktop screen. (I'm using it in VPC) Not sure which file was wrong. Sorry I have a low internet band width here.

Comment by ramfree17, Jul 15, 2009

mine is also freezing at the live android wallpaper. the md5sum follows:

979b3ee7756785f9b250febbdaceb7bf liveandroidv0.2.iso c2a1c445783f8749851da9487129ca12 liveandroidv0.2.iso.001 991a8a8dc2a4c80d5a418e2fd53fc805 liveandroidv0.2.iso.002

would have been great if the download page also contains a checksum for verification.

Comment by ramfree17, Jul 15, 2009

i mean for the parts. the readme only has it for the combined iso and i don't know which part has gone bad. :(

Comment by petter.gustad, Jul 23, 2009

I have it running in my VirtualBox? under gentoo/x86_64, but how do I install it to my HD so I have write access to test developed apps?

Comment by tom.arroyo.iv, Jul 24, 2009

Well, I am quiet happy with it running on Sun Virtual Box 3.0.2 and plan on trying it out on a CD tomorrow.

Just like Petter, I really want to be able to get this to mount some hard drive space. Also, I found that the ESC key is like the Go Back arrow, but what keys are used for the Menu & the Home buttons?

It would also be very cool if the camera feature actually activated webcam attached to the computer, it states that it needs a SD card to start the webcam.

I will see if I can find more docs on this. So far for a 0.2 version, nice work guys! Thank you for sharing! Tom

Comment by tom.arroyo.iv, Jul 24, 2009

Ok, could not wait. It did boot fine off of the Live-CD, however it did not recognize the USB mouse or built in touch pad of my Sony VAIO CR190 laptop. I was able to use the keyboard just fine which allowed me to use the ESC key, and also to reset the system with Alt-Ctrl-Del.

For now until those issues are resolved I'll stick to a virtual machine box within my Windows Vista using Sun Virtual Box.

Comment by coburn.matthew, Jul 30, 2009

Live Android 0.2 LiveCD works fine on Lenovo 3000 N100, no sound, lags when prompts appear (dim effect?) however reception and transfer icons say 4 bars.

Other than that, works good. System is Intel Centrino Duo @ 1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM

Freezes at Live Android screen, booting from USB on an Eee PC 900 (Celeron)

Comment by cwhuang01, Aug 04, 2009

If you encounter problems to use iso in this project, you should try this:

http://code.google.com/p/android-x86/wiki/ReleaseNote_0_9

Not only contains a live iso and live usb, it also has a complete source tree and detailed instructions so that you can build your customized iso easily. With hardware auto-detection, it works on most x86 platforms.

Comment by sruckh, Aug 05, 2009

Used cat on Linux system to create Live USB v0.2 .iso file. Used Unetbootin on Linux to write .iso file to 8GB USB 2.0 thumb drive.

Booted thumb drive on MSI WIND U100 netbook and experienced the same results as many others above have posted.

The Live Android splash screen is displayed and the system just hangs.

Comment by bentilford, Aug 06, 2009

Ran on a homebuilt Intel Atom based system. No refresh rate/sync trouble with the touchscreen that was giving Minbuntu, Moblin, and Minbuntu issues.

Comment by danny.a.thompson, Aug 20, 2009

Same here, freezes on the splash screen when booting on Samsung NC10 and Advent 4213. Checked MD5 checksum to make sure no problems creating the USB. Tried several different SD cards. All the same problem.

Also tried on Sun VirtualBox? 3.0.4 r50677 - tried various settings for the Linux type, memory size, hardware acceleration, nothing works. Same as on the Netbooks it freezes at the splash screen.

Someone did call it a toy and they were honest! We all know where toys end up...Hey, it's 36 degrees celcius outside and the android has frozen again...shame ,shame, shame!

Comment by googlegr...@rcole.org, Today (12 hours ago)

After 15 minutes, in Virtualbox running on Dell 9200 running Windows 7 (RTM MSDN licence), the Android v0.3 splash screen is still running on 1st boot. Virtual box performance = Cpu = 2 to 3%, Private Memory 35.3MB, I/O bytes 8 to 9 MB second. No other process running in Virtualbox.

Will leave for up to an hour while I eat, then it has to go if not loaded.
