IE on Linux - Powered by Linie

Linie helps you install Internet Explorer on Linux with wine. Linie will support installation of IE 7, IE 8, and IE 9.

Linie 0.3 is available for download now with support for IE 7. Grab your copy from Downloads tab above.

Linie is a free and open source software released under GNU GPL version 2. See LegalInformation for more details.

Installation

The latest stable version of Linie is 0.3. This version supports installing IE 7.

  1. Install the latest version of wine from http://www.winehq.org/download/. Linie may not work with the standard wine installation that came with your Linux distribution.
  2. Wine requires winetricks, a script to download and install various redistributable runtime libraries. If it is not already installed with wine, follow the steps at http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks.
  3. Download the latest Linie release from http://code.google.com/p/linie/downloads/list.
  4. Unzip the file to any directory you wish
  5. Run ./linie --install-ie7 from that directory.
  6. For more options, try ./linie --help

Roadmap

Work is underway for release 1.0. This release will support IE 8 installation and a GUI installer.
