Damian leGassick reports a problem with -dbackend=eps where beams are cropped, see http://lilypond.1069038.n5.nabble.com/attachment/133016/0/space_prob.pdf
this behavior also occurs in many other situations with -dpreview, namely when beams, slurs, phrasing slurs, dynamic spanners (and maybe others, but not text scripts) extend above or below the "natural" vertical dimension of a staffGroup (which I assume is determined by the normal stem length).
the problem exists only with \autoChange.
see the up-to-now discussion under http://lilypond.1069038.n5.nabble.com/dbackend-eps-clips-lowest-beam-td133006.html where also a simple workaround is described.
note: this bug also impacts http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.14/Documentation/notation/displaying-pitches#automatic-accidentals and newer versions where the code has been changed to avoid this problem.
