Description of local settings templates

Contents

Introduction

Templates allow you to predefine various settings to:

You probably need it
  • It will help you manage your incoming folder (i.e. Video, Pictures, Music ...)
  • It will help you follow private trackers rules by automatically setting bandwidth and ratio limits according to the torrent source
  • It will help you easily set special limits for torrents you are initially seeding.

Creating a template

Creating a template is very simple:

The available settings are:
  • Label
    1. Hide label from menu = The context menu of the transfers list has a Template item that lists all templates. Check this option to hide the template from the menu.
    2. Can be active label = When checked, this template can't be set as a label.
  • Bandwidth
    1. Maximum uploads = Maximum number of uploads. Uncheck to keep old value.
    2. Upload rate = Maximum local upload rate. Uncheck to keep old value.
    3. Download rate = Maximum local download rate. Uncheck to keep old value.
  • Queue
    1. Seeding time = how long to seed (0=ignore). Uncheck to keep old value.
    2. Seeding ratio = how much to seed (0=ignore). Uncheck to keep old value.
    3. Disable timeouts = Completely ignore timeout settings.
  • Trigger Rules
    • Allows you to automaticaly apply this template to torrents by content or source. will be described in the next paragraph.

Applying a template automatically

In the Trigger Rules tab you can set rules to automatically apply a template by:

The input of each of the above fields is a regular expression. The mode between all fileds is OR, meaning a single match is enough.

Don't forget to check the Trigger Rules check box!

Applying a template manually

The context menu of the transfers list has a Template item that lists all visible templates. In case you cannot find this item, customize the context menu.

Click on the desired template to apply it to the selected torrents.

Template examples

I will descrive two types of templates:

  1. Trackers templates
  2. Content templates

Trackers templates

For trackers that enforce seeding rules you may want to create a template that automatically change bandwidth and queue settings according to the tracker's name.

  1. Create a new template and name it i.e. TrackerA
  2. Uncheck all options in the Label tab
  3. Check and set the desired options in the Bandwidth tab. i.e. set Upload Rate to 500.
  4. Check and set the desired options in the Queue tab. i.e. set Seeding Time to 3 days and Seeding Ratio to 150%, and disable timeouts.
  5. Enable Triger Rules and set the tracker name in the Tracker name field. i.e. for www.trackera.com/announce write trackera. to apply the same rule for trackerb write trackera|trackerb

Content templates

To manage downloads by content you may want to create templates for differrent file types.

  1. Create a new template and name it i.e. Video
  2. Check Can be actibe label in the Label tab.
  3. Uncheck all options in Bandwidth and Queue
  4. Enable Triger Rules and set Torrent name to (xvid|dvdrip|hdtv|avi|mp4) or Received filename to \.(3gp|avi|mp4|mkv|wmv)$ or both :-)
List of example Triger Rules for Content templates
  • Other - Set Torrent name to .
  • Images - Set Torrent name and Received filename to \.(jpg|png|bmp|jpeg)$
  • Applications - Set Torrent name and Received filename to \.exe$
  • Archive - Set Torrent name and Received filename to \.(rar|zip|tar|gz)$
  • Music - Set Torrent name and Received filename to \.(mp3|wma)$
  • Video - Set Torrent name and Received filename to \.(3gp|avi|mp4|mkv|wmv)$
Note that you will need to activate the "add label to move dir" in the Disk settings.
