IntroductionThis module is compatible with both Joomla! versions 1.5 as well as 1.6 and 1.7, and it uses the Bookmarking services of AddThis.com. For a complete list of the AddThis features take a look at this page. The module ValAddThis allows the easy configuration as well the display of the AddThis Button or AddThis Toolbox. It produces valid markup for XHTML as well as for CSS. ValAddThis is free software, which has been released under the GNU/GPL v2.0 license. This version of the module supports the latest AddThis Menu API 2.0, in combination with the old API 1.0 (which is still used to display an RSS-Feed button). With ValAddThis you're also able to display the new AddThis Toolbox, as well as several other special buttons (such as: LinkedIn and Stumbleupon counters), which aren't supported officially by AddThis yet. Details1. Installation - If you have already an older version (prior to 2.5.0) of the module ValAddThis installed, please uninstall it first and then continue with the installation steps below.
- Go to your Joomla administration backend and on the menu Extensions and click on "Install/Uninstall" (for J1.7 is "Extension Manager").
- Upload the file contained here by clicking on "Browse..." and selecting the zipped file.
- Click on "Upload file & Install".
Now the module "ValAddThis" is installed in Joomla and you can use it. 2. Configuration In order to display the module in a Joomla article follow these instructions. 3. Support If you have any suggestions or found any bugs in the module, feel free to: Support for the module ValAddThis is only free for my customers or donators of the module. If you need support please make a donation by using the PayPal "Donate" button on the right hand side of the documentation pages on my website. Donators will be listed at the end of the documentation. 4. Open Issues The following are issues of the AddThis script and not of the module itself: - When the AddThis Button parameter "Display on" is set to "Mouse click" and used in conjunction with the AddThis Toolbox, some of the Toolbox icons (like email) don't behave properly. This isn't an issue of the module itself, rather an issue of the AddThis script and thus it cannot be fixed from me, unless AddThis fixes it.
- if you use the module together with the plugin ValAddThis (in case of a Toolbox), you should be aware there could be some issues with conflicting CSS styles; in order to bypass any conflict, use the available option with which you can deactivate the loading of any of the module's CSS files.
Please vote for the module at the web-page of Joomla Extensions. Thank you! ChangeLogVersion 2.5.2 (11 Oct 2011) - Added: one more ValAddThis-only counter button (tweetmeme_vertical).
