Contains instructions to install JMTPSynchronizer

If you need any help please join JMTPSynchronizer Discussion group .

Introduction

Since I have tested this only with Ubuntu, these instructions are valid only if you are running Ubuntu. However, if you are willing to take risks, then try installing this in your distribution and share the experience with everyone (mail me the link of the forum) and hopefully me or someone else will be able to help with any issues you are having.

Installing mtpsyncxml

mtpsyncxml is the C++ back-end for JMTPSynchronizer. Installing this is very easy.

  1. Download and unzip the JMTPSynchronizer.
  2. Double click on install.sh and choose the option 'run in terminal'.
  3. At the end of the above command you should have successfully installed mtpsyncxml
  4. You should see a new file named mtpsyncxml in mtpSync/src folder.

Installing Java

  1. Install icedtea java from repositories using the command - sudo apt-get install icedtea-java7-jre
  2. Set iced tea java as default using the command sudo update-alternatives --config java. This should prompt you for the various java available and you can choose the icedtea java.

Running JMtpSynchronizer

Running JMtpSynchronizer just involves running a run.sh script.

  1. In the folder where you unzipped JMTPSynchronizer, double click on run.sh command and choose the option 'run in terminal'. This should bring up the user interface asking you for a folder where you have your music files.
