issue 12 (Optus Usage Gadget hangs - Optus have disabled external acce...) Status changed by Russ...@rewill.net   -   Please raise a glass as I announce (with significant regret) that my iGoogle Optus Usage Gadget is officially dead. After researching limitations in the iGoogle Gadget API and Javascript I can find no method of scraping the Optus usage page and fixing the gadget. If someone with more knowledge of the Legacy Google Gadget API and Javascript can prove me wrong I would not mind in the slightest. So, with this Usage Meter, Optus have unfortunately won (refer http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1124145)!

issue 12 (Optus Usage Gadget hangs - Optus have disabled external acce...) reported by Russ...@rewill.net   -   Optus have posted the following message on their Service Status Page: Message posted at: 2009-01-15 13:41 What: Usage in text form When: from 15/1/2009 Duration: ongoing Impact: Currently, some customers may use 3rd party software to receive details regarding their Optus internet usage. Effective immediately, Optus will be increasing the level of protection used to hold customer usage data by restricting access that may have been used by 3rd party usage measuring tools to display customer information (for example: firefox/google usage plug-ins). These 3rd party applications have not been developed, provided or certified by Optus and as such present a high security risk for customers. Consequently, 3rd party usage tools may no longer display Optus Internet usage. Depending on the 3rd party tool used by the customer an error message may be displayed. Note: This change does not affect the Member Services Optus usage meter at https://memberservices.optuszoo.com.au/myusage/

issue 11 (Days Elapsed Error) Status changed by Russ...@rewill.net   -   The Gadget calculates the days and percentage elapsed based on the date/time of the usage information and the actual start and end dates for the usage period. This means that the figures presented in the gadget are as accurate as possible and may vary from Optus' usage information where they appear to calculate the days elapsed based on whole days. To change the gadget to match Optus' figures would decrease the gadget's accuracy in this instance.
