Tried on iPod Touch, no bueno; I used WinSCP, created "Doom.app" in the Applicatins folder ("/Applications/Doom.app" is what I'm reading in WinSCP), and I get the Doom icon on Spingboard, but a white page for about 5 seconds, then throws me out back to Springboard.
Installer.app would be nice like the last guy said...if you can get it there. Icon is a tad bland - but anyone who wants to can change it up can surely do so; I recommend using the "D" as the central piece for the icon, then tweak it to mimic the other icons.
If I can play it, then there would be something a tad more constructive than "icon" and "no doomz on touch!" from me.
just tried this today on touch and really surprised how smooth it ran.. controls make it currently unplayable but that shouldnt take too much work to fix. just made me think that maybe even descent could run at playable speed on iphone/touch (see d1x / d2x projects)

Hello guys. I copy with Fugu doom.app set the permission to 755 and I also installed doom1.wad to the appropriate location but the doom icon does not appear at the menu? Any idea what's wrong? Thanks
i downloaded the zip file, put it in the media folder of the ipod touch through winSCP, renamed it just Doom (used to be Doom.app), downloaded the shareware wad, added it to the folder Doom after renaming it doom1.wad and nothing shows up on my ipod to allow me to play it... plz help
it may have to be doom.app and as alexi you need to set the wad to 755 also. a easy way to reboot after installing things is to download the summerboard because it has a reset springboard button.
the way I got mine to work was to install squid and go into the Doom.app folder in applications and set all 4 files to 755, then I went into var/root/Media/Doom and set doom1.wad to 755 and it runs fine, other then the sideways controls.
I got mine installed and works great! Lots of potential! A fix for game crashes, an option to select which .wad file to play, sound, and better controls would be nice to see in future releases. Thanks a lot for porting this!

Exit Putty. Reboot your ipod/iphone. Try going into it then. I got it working, but it does tend to crash after a few minutes still. May be an app thing. Still, very impressive.
i've the problem, that after three clicks New Game->Which Episode->Choose Skill Level iPhone exits the game to the iphone-home-desktop. Who can help? All the files in App and Media dirs have 755 rights!

You need the add the additional character, which is SHIFT 8, after Applications it's just that the charater does not appear on this forum. So type the following /bin/chmod -Rf a+x /Applications/8. Just remember to replace the 8 with SHIFT 8
The app is not working on 2.1 although the toolchain compiles it fine (on Linux). Compiling it on the iPhone device itself produces the following linker error:
/usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: getNextEvent iPhone_Video_End?iPhone_Video_Init?iPhone_Video_LoadFrame? collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
Any idea which libraries contain these? Or is it that 2.1 has discontinued these function? Thanks in advance for any info.

You made sure to have an original doom shareware wad file in ~/Media/Doom/ ?
I am having the same issues as pacokorn77 on my touch; and I have the shareware wad (downloaded from idsoftware) in the ~/Media/Doom/ directory.
Looking forward to a complete Doom port; words alone can't thank you enough for this!
make sure your doom wad is named "doom1.wad" with no caps and all file permissions are set to 755. Any idea when we will have better controls psycho?
Should there only be 1 file in /Media/Doom/ ?

i guess you have to boot iphone / touch for it to add new apps to menu after manual install..

Both app and wad were set to 755. Doom app should be renamed Doom or remain Doom.app?
i would just leave it Doom.app and see what happens.

The controls are iffy (moving around is difficult) and I couldn't figure out how to shoot or switch guns.
