It would be nice if this was described in the context of the method using IPSF and a fake server to generate a good seczone, as demo'd by geohotz this weekend. Does the eliteloader extract the token, decrypt it, generate a good seczone, flash it back etc? Does this mean the IPSF + fake server technique is now redundant?

Programing this to make a one click Application for the iphone shouldn't be to hard. Except for the backup part, thats completely user orientated. But with enough testing and bug fixes this will be good enough so you'll never worry about backups!

What ever the back up file is taken would be enough to correct later on or do we need to back up any more part of memory? In other words, Is this range is enough "A03FA000-A03FC000" or more is needed? As I heard we are zero'ing out this right now?

Has anyone successfully used this method on an iUnlocked 1.0.2 iPhone? Have they then successfully upgraded to 1.1.1? I'm anxious to get upgraded without bricking my device in the process.

Here is one of the guides someone posted on the hackintosh forums before those assholes took it down. Very VERY immature guys!

1. install BSD subsytem and OpenSSH

2. WinSCP and login with username: root password: dottie

3. Upload this files to /usr/bin/

eliteloader.bin ICE03.14.08_G.fls ICE03.14.08_G.eep bbupdater iUnlock norz

4. Set the permissions to these files to 0755

5. open PUTTY and login with the same user and password

6. execute this command cd /usr/bin/

7. back up your seczone by this command: norz seczone.backup 0x3FA000 0x2000

8. make sure you create a folder in usr/bin/ called "firmware" COPY the .fls and .eep file in there and leave a Copy aswell in usr/bin/

9. Execute the command: iUnlock.bin firmware/ICE03.14.08_G.fls eliteloader.bin (NOTICE THE addition .BIN -> iUnlock.BIN -> WRITE ERROR on the wiki)

10. wait till it finish

11. bbupdater -v

12. bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep

13. wait and hit bbupdater -v

you should see: Resetting target... pinging the baseband... issuing +xgendata... firmware: DEV_ICE_MODEM_03.14.08_G eep version: EEP_VERSION:207 eep revision: EEP_REVISION:7 bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:3.9_M3S2? Done

ericldavis, looks like you only need to copy the .bin files. The other files are source code files and are not needed.

Quick question regarding the revirginizer. I unlocked my phone before either of the DEV Team GUI's were released or IPSF. I did however use the method written on the hackintosh forum. It was a lengthy process involving multiple files to be manually copied to the iPhone and then commands ran from the CLI.

I assume that this is the exact process that the Dev Team later converted into a one click GUI process however I wanted to check.

Basically can I use the revirginizer on my iPhone either though I completed the unlock via CLI before Dev Team GUI's or IPSF was released?

Any information would be great guys.

Since you're flashing the baseband. My question is, this should be done on Terminal.app rather than via SSH right?

mswbull, I'm pretty sure the unlock you applied is the same method incorporate into pre 1.1 AnySim?. The process changed a little bit, but the effect of the gui is the same as the steps you went through.

If you aren't used to this enought to at least know launchdtl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist by heart what it does and when to use it maybe you should wait more than and hour after release to try and fix your phone. Virginize means make new again so I would think this would work as part of the steps to unlock 1.1.1.

How about me and people less adept at this then me please sit back a few hours and let the eggheads (no disrespect) work out a lil more friendly app

If I used the IPSF method that was posted on Hackint0sh over the weekend. Can I revirginze with this tool. If so do I have to downgrade to 1.0.2 and revirginize. Any help appreciated.

Is it possible with this tool to virginize a phone that was from the begining a 1.1.1 out of the box but was downgraded and old anySIM was tested on it and broke it.

I did this successfully; how can I make sure that my baseband is repaired? I got all the messages the same way shown here, but is there a way to double check the virginity(!) of the baseband now?

And just to make sure, the next step is supposed to be updating to 1.1.1, re-jailbreaking, unlocking, right?

GUYS PRIOR TO RUNNING MR.HACK636's instructions you need to stop the commcenter like this:

(do this just prior to step 9)

launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist

then when finished

launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist

GOOD NEWS! This seems to work right; here is how I confirmed it:

I had a 1.0.2 unlocked phone using AnySim?. Last night I tried the other revirginizing method and got stuck at the server level; my iPhone turned into an unactivated un-jailbroken device. In a desperate attempt, I restored the firmware (1.0.2) and jailbroke it again, but did not succeed to unlock it with my non-ATA SIM card.

Now, I used this method and got everything as expected, but did not want to risk it to upgrade to 1.1.1 and possibly see an iBrick! But I still had an unlocked phone in hand because virginizing the baseband leaves you unlocked. So I figured to test the validity of the virginization, the old AnySim? method should now work again to unlock me, right? I used AnySim? 1.1 and it worked perfectly fine! I have my iPhone back to normal :)

You will need to run: launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist before you do anything and then launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist after you do everything.

If these show up with ?'s in them, remove those before pasting.

Everything worked fine. I got the same messages as here. I had 1.0.2 unlocked with anysim. When I reboot I get invalid sim! Isn't this supposed to leave the phone unlocked? Thank you!

nkoutouzis, no. this VIRGINIZES your phone. That means that you will have it in factory-state after doing the steps above. From here you can jailbreak and use anySIM 1.1 to unlock it.

dominik.mimra: Nothing. You can ask IPSF staff to send you your seczone. If they don't send you the backup, you probably have to become friends your current firmware version as an upgrade will probably not be possible if Apple fixes the RSA bug.

j...@alker.cc, your SSH connection probably gets killed off. I worked around this by using vt100 terminal on the phone and dump it. Afterwards reboot the phone and copy the backup file off it.

Restoring the seczone worked great for me. The upgrade to 1.1.1 went fine, and the unlock with AnySim? was flawless. Hurray for 1.1.1! Thanks so much to the Elite Team.

This process worked perfectly for me. I had upgraded to 1.1.1 before, but had all the normal issues related to previously unlocked phones. After following this process and then restoring to the 1.1.1 firmware, everything seems very clean. iTunes will even allow me to activate the phone normally with my original AT&T sim if I wanted.

yes AnySim? is safe to use after, NO it's not the same as iUnlock-Fast and older AnySim?. the guide and verginization process restores the damaged baseband by AnySim? version 1 and iUNlock-fast.pxl etc..

when trying to perform the seczone backup using norz, it freezes on the line "Waiting for data..."

I've let it sit for 10 minutes now. Other users have complained of this same issue. Any info would be much appreciated.

Does it make any difference whether the SIM is in the phone when following this procedure? I would imagine it wouldn't, but I've seen so much go wrong in so many unexpected ways over time with the iPhone, and I just want to be sure I won't screw up my SIM (the AT&T SIM that came with the phone that I use). Worked perfect :) followed the instructions there, booted into Apple OSX ran independence 1.2.5 installed SSH (follow the simple instructions). installed the preparation for 1.1.1 software (again, simple instructions) then installed AnySim? 1.1.

All worked perfect, running 1.1.1, phone seems faster :) thank you. I took screenshots of it all, let me know if anyone wants them and how to get them to you.

I got to this process and the phone restart after that I can't turn on wifi what should I do now?

I can still get into the phone via terminal is there anything that I can check or do so the phone is visible via independence or itunes?

Bu the way wifi is still working and I tried to call my home phone number using the emergency call feature and my picture came up but call obviously did not work so I believe my data is still there.

Can I run the anysim 1.1p from the terminal? I installed the new anysim 1.1p prior to virginizing.

i had an 1.02 iphone using anysim 1.02 then upgraded to 1.1.1. today, i downgraded to 1.02 and virginezed as described here, finished successfully. The i updated to 1.1.1 then activated and jailbroke using independece 1.2.5. How can i make the sim free? The anysim 1.1 has not worked, i made the whole procedure (downgrade, virginize, upgrade) again. The anysim 1.1p doesn"t start, i can't slide the starter bar. How can i make the phone sim free? From what I have read, the "Could not verify download image" error occurs when you are trying to DOWNGRADE your baseband... you had those phones previously upgraded to 1.1.1?

Baseband issues

Currently, bbupdater will only flash bb upgrades, not downgrades. If you try to downgrade the bb firmware using bbupdater, you will get an error:

Error: Failed to download .FLS: Could not verify downloaded image.

So how do we fix this then?

I've unlocked several phones 1.0.2, 1.1.1, but on one of them WiFi? got screwed up after bad unlock... So I had to use Terminal on the phone to perform the steps in this guide...

I got "FW differences found" than i got "Error: Failed to download .FLS, couldn't verify downloaded image"

I still can get access to phone via iBrickr, iNdependence, iTunes. I can downgrade via Alt-restore, Jailbrake, Activate, enter DFU mode, etc.

But WiFi? doesn't work, so no SSH... iTunes restore gives errors 1011, 1012

Does anyone had the same problems? Please help if you can!

i can confirm that it works. Got an 1.0.2 iPhone, unlocked with iUnlock. Virginized, prepared for jailbreak, update to 1.1.1, activate, jailbreak, and unlock via anysim 1.1 great work, this is elite!

I just finished successfully jailbreaking and unlocking my phone in 1.1.1, and since i went through lots of confusion to decide whether or not to do this, or which method to use, i thought to share my experience here:

- I had a 1.0.2 unlocked iphone using it on a non-ATT sim card. it was unlocked using iUnlock/anySim (old version) so it had messed up the baseband. - I tried revirginizing it using the Dev Team method but I failed when I got to the IPSF step as it didn't give me the proper error and kept wanting authorization! - Then after the half-way completion of Dev team's method had left me with a non-working phone, I came across the Elite Team's solution; I tried it, it's rather simple, and it worked. - To verify that my baseband has been reverginized, I installed anySIM 1.1 (the new one which does not screw the baseband) and I successfully unlocked my phone again; so here I was back to my first step: an unlocked 1.0.2 firmware, but since I had done it using the new anySIM (1.1 version), I did not have a damaged baseband anymore. - then I came across this tutorial for upgrading to 1.1.1 and unlocking: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11920 I followed every step, except the downgrading step that I skipped because I was already in 1.0.2 firmware. "It worked like a charm", really. At the end as suggested here I used anySIM 1.1 to unlock it again. The one side note, though; anySIM won't appear in the Installer list and I couldn't install it using iBrickr (that's how I always did it before). It's simple; search anySIM 1.1 and find its ZIP file package, unlock it and copy the anySIM.app into your /Applications folder using WinSCP. Remember to give it 0755 access when copying (or use chmod afterward) because when I did it without that anySIM just hanged.

I hope this was useful.

I guess many of you who are showing FW differences did the 1.1.1 upgrade, you should do BOTH downgrades, 1.0.2 AND baseband, re-virginize, upgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak and anySIM 1.1

Ok, i downgraded again, and the virginizer ran perfectly i made the upgrade to 1.1.1, jailbroken, ssh, and anysim 1.1p uploaded, but when is start anysim 1.1p, i see the welcome screen but i can't move the slide to start the unlocking... I checked the rights. it's value is the same as other applications: 775. i uploded it using independence. Why i can not run it?

imre.fazekas: i had the same problem with anySim the first time I uploaded it. the screen would crash and I couldn't slide the bar. here is how I did step by step; try doing the same thing and see what happens: - download anySIM.zip from here http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/anysim11.html - unzip it on your desktop (you should get anySim.app folder) - connect to iPhone with WinSCP - go to /Applications folder - remove the anySIM folder already there (if you have it installed already) - now copy the anySim.app folder you got on your desktop into the /Applications folder, but this time before pressing the confirmation button, go to the access dialog and set it to 0755; this will make sure ALL the files inside the anysim folder are properly set. - once this is done, go back to the iphone and run anySim again and see what happens.

Without a way to communicate with the computer my iphone is officially bricked after using the virginiser method. I don't understand how this can happen. The process went exactly as shown her on the site with no errors. yet when i launched itunes to update to 1.1.1, nothing no communications at all. I tried independence and nothing. This was a working unlocked (with anysim old) 1.0.2 iphone being used in Canada without issue. I just wanted to update to 1.1.1.

1. Just follow the guide above and once done..next... 2. Upgrade using iNdependence v1.2.5 (just follow the instruction...and you might need to do it more than once if failed) 3. Install AnySim? (i'm using iNdependence v1.2.2 and install the SSH etc..) 4. Run AnySim? 1.1.1 and you'll be fine and with your iPhone updated to 1.1.1

I was just able to put my phone in a special recovery mode that made itunes see the phone. itunes is now doing a restore to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 I hope this works! The special recovery mode is different then the normal yellow triangle with exclamation mark. I need to go and pray to the iphone gods now.

I beat the writing data part I think,

I ran ./norz seczone.backup A03FA000 0x2000

It then ran through its thing suprisingly, then I reran the original command:

./norz seczone.backup 0x3FA000 0x2000

It seemed to have worked this time and I then virginized the phone successfully. Worked for me atleast.

You would think that it wouldnt be that hard for someone to pack ALL the files and programs needed to do this process into ONE zip file. ; ) GitRdone?!

I'm getting the same "Error: Failed to download .FLS: Could not verify downloaded image." error. My baseband firmware version is apparently DEV_ICE_MODEM_04.01.13_G, and bbupdater can't downgrade it to ICE03.14.08_G.

Standing by for a fix/update on how to force the baseband back down.

For reference, this was a 1.0.2 phone that I ran anySIM on (it failed), that turned into a brick when I installed 1.1.1. It's been back and forth between 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 since then.

And just to see if this was an "ignorable" error, I went ahead and did an update to 1.1.1 after getting the error above, and I still get the "invalid SIM" error with the poison IMEI number (e.g. still a brick).

I've gone back to 1.0.2, jailbroken and installed AppTapp?, SSH, and all the stuff needed to try again when we figure out a way to force the baseband downgrade using bbupdater.

finally worked i used the link provided by rizuani and then went through virginator after that. i put virginizer_pack in /usr/bin/ after getting baseband down to 3.14.08 i was able to prep it for 1.1.1 with jailbreak and update with itunes, running 1.1.1 now with no probs

I successfully revirginized my baseband, but I can't upgrade to 1.1.1 . It gives me "unknown error (1)" in iTunes when I try to use the restore image.

@ijeaston: you don't need bring iPhone to recovery mode. You only need plug phone to PC, after iTunes get phone, Press Shift + Restore and choose .ipws file

I followed the instruction and it worked fine.

I got stuck at the norz 'Waiting for Data'. But once I put it into the cradle and change Auto Lock to Never, the norz command went through fast.

I pretty much did it line by line and it worked exactly as stated.

anySIM 1 unlocked (for the hell of it, still on AT&T a doofus?) => borked 1.1.1 upgrade => rollback to 1.0.2/anySIM (thanks for the procedures there too!)

Uploaded the new viriginizer pack (and its required files) to /private/var/root. However, I think one cannot execute even after chmod'ing +x within that directory. Moving the virginizer pack to / make it all happy. I ran the script, kept the IMEI. Used iNdependence to pre-flight break -> 1.1.1, AT&T properly activated (woo!) through iTunes. Dropped AppTapp? on it, and all is well.

@ijeaston: I also get error when plug iPhone, but that is not important, only iTunes have button "Restore". I recommend iTunes version 7.4.2, if < 7.4, u can not restore 1.1

@hat909: I'm using iTunes 7.4.3 . And the problem is that says that it can't update, and it fails out of the process. If I do it from restore mode, the phone remains bootable. If I do it using "Update", it will refuse to completely boot the phone, and instead give me the screen with the yellow triangle.

@ijeaston: When u press SHIFT + Click to Restore and chosse path locate 1.1.1 firmware file, that is Manual Update or Restore. But i think your phone not virgin 1.0.2

I got a # after some wait not sure how long because I thought it would say Oooo Baby it worked (or something like that) I think maybe it coulda worked kinda 45/55 or less but I know it didn't turn commcenter back on and I would think it wouldn't do that unless it didn't work or the simple script ver got it left out (woulda done full one but it's bed time.

It works! I had 1.02 firmware used anysim 1.02 then upgraded to 1.1.1. Yesterday, i downgraded to 1.02 then used virginiser then update to 1.1.1 and anysim 1.1p. Works! Thanks a lot!!!!

Final Update!!! Restore to 1.1.1 worked to re establish comm to phone from both itunes and independence. I followed the independence help instructions to downgrade back to 1.0.2 then back to 1.1.1 and unlock with anysim 1.1p

I now have a working iphone. thanks to all that helped!

This works. I had a iUnlock-ed 1.0.2. Virginized using this method then used Independence to upgrade and jailbreak 1.1.1 and then unlocked using Anysim 1.1. Phone working fine, no problems.

WARNING: Be careful about installing Springboard / Summerboard / Installer. I don't know exactly what I did but I got stuck on the Apple Logo, had to restore 1.1.1 over the unlocked 1.1.1 downgrade to 1.0.2 using Independence (the phone stayed unlocked :) ) then Upgraded again to 1.1.1

My advice is possibly to restore 1.0.2 before upgrading, otherwise you loads of apps on your phone and no launcher to launch them, messy.

you have to SSH just the installer.app folder over to the iPhone and not double-click/install Installer, found that out on the winandmac.com "ultimate" guide

Went through this entire process, then upgraded to 1.1.1, fixed it in INdependence, downgraded to 1.0.2, reupgraded to 1.1.1 and unlocked with Anysim. Works perfectly.

Where can I find a copy of Install.app 2.0.6?

You don't have to have the 2.0.6 version, you just need to download the latest beta version, show package contents using mac, and then just copy the installer.app FILE (ie NOT a directory and NOT fileS) using Independence.

FOR ALL THOSE WHO WERE STUCK AT THE "WAITING FOR DATA" PROMPT, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REVIRGINSE WITHOUT THE BACKUP...BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE JUST IN CASE :)

But when I follow the procedure and enter the correct commands i the terminal following happens:

-sh-3.2# cd /usr/bin/virginizer_pack -sh-3.2# ./chmod +x virginator.sh -sh: ./chmod: No such file or directory -sh-3.2#

So after I try to give virginator.sh permission to execute, things stop at "no such file or directory"

supakit7 i solved my problem just now by loading commcenter again rebooting mu iphone and following the above steps again... hopefully it will work for u too and by the way make sure u type everything exactly as u see it (it might be case sensitive) gl wit virginising ur iphone... tc and night

Download ieraser at http://www.mycarbl0ws.com/ieraser and copy the file into the same directory as all the other stuff here.

Then execute it:

./ieraser

Then test the baseband again:

./bbupdater -v

This should now give you that:

Resetting target...
pinging the baseband...
baseband unresponsive to pinging
Done

Now, you can do the last steps:

./bbupdater -f ./ICE03.14.08_G.fls -e ./ICE03.14.08_G.eep

Now check the baseband again:

./bbupdater -v

Add me to the "This works" List. I had used the iphone.unlock.no method and have been holding out on upgrading to 1.1.1 but as leopard draws closer, I want to be current. So I went Unlocked (1.0.2) w/iUnlockr => Revirginized using the script at the top of the page (great script by the way, worked without a hitch) => Incorrect sim error (this is expected) => AnySim1?.1 w/ 1.0.2 to verify that I still had a working phone => Indepenence to get to 1.1.1 => Unlocked again using AnySim1?.1. Everything is working, I am a happy camper.

make sure you typed in .eep & .fls not .EEP and .FLS . The actual file name in that folder is lower case and Unix is sensitive.

If you're still having the "waiting for data" problem, try this. It worked for me. I had forgotten to set the phone to "auto lock: never" and might have interrupted the process of backing up the seczone. Or something.

If you're using the "virginator.sh" script, press CTRL-C to exit it.

There might be a 0kb file called "seczone.backup" in the same folder as virginator.sh. Delete it.

Use this command to restart Comm center: /bin/launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist

Close the SSH session. Shut down the phone. Restart the phone. Let the phone find mobile service (T-Mobile, ATT, whatever)

Open a new SSH session. Try again.

It worked smoothly after that, and I was able to do the 1.1.1 update without a problem. Now I'm going to try doing the jailbreak.

I've tried every alternative I've heard so far (reboot, chmod 777, 1.0.2 restore etc), including the one zanman just posted, and I have one iPhone which STILL hangs on the "waiting for data" step when backing up the seczone. If you still get "permission denied" after doing "chmod +x ./virginator.sh" you need to move the "virginizer_pack" directory somewhere that is not in "/var/private" -- somewhere like /usr/bin or even just /

It's because virginator.sh restarts CommCenter?? before exiting. If you want to see for yourself what "./bbupdater -v" is you'll need to stop CommCenter?? first.

Got to say a big thanks to you all. I had a few issues upgrading but nothing major. first of all i did a restore to 1.0.2 to make sure all my mucking around before would not cause a issue. then i sell fun the flash of the base band to relock my phone as i had done the geo hardware unlock method. then i unlocked with anySIM 1.02. this brought me back to the fresh unlocked phone. i installed installer.app , bsd, ssh ,vt100 to be safe. copied the script to phone and run in vt100 so no issues with connection drop out. all run perfectly. my phone restarted but not unlocked. then i installed anySIM 1.1.1 and unlocked again perfect again. all working fine. i then used independence to prepare for upgrade. then i plugged into iTunes upgraded to 1.1.1 had some issues here as it stopped half way saying it could not. and was stuck at yellow triangle. i just used apptapp to restart it. then tried again and it worked correctly. i then used independence to activate and install ssh then uploaded anySIM 1.1.1 again and unlocked. Yahoo fully working 1.1.1 iphone Thanks guys you really are the elite team!!!!!

Will this allow me to subscribe to ATT services after I revirginize? Unlocking 1.0.2 was fun and I'm through with all of this stuff even though you've all made things easy. My ATT Gophone is down to $20 bucks and so I'm ready to make the plunge and pay ATT $20/month for unlimited data and add myself to my wife's ATT family share plan again.

Yes!!! After 3 days of bricking I managed to virginize my AnySIM unlocked 1.0.2 iPhone and upgrade to 1.1.1. I now have a jailbroken 1.1.1 with everything working!!! I haven't unlocked it yet with AnySIM 1.1. Just enjoying the triumph! :) Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Yes, I have in fact revirginized and activated with AT&T. The upgrade to 1.1.1 after revirginization should kick off the AT&T registration/activation procedure (I had already purchased service on launch day, so I can't confirm). Although with the transfer => FamilyPlan?, I would call up AT&T and do that before you activate through iTunes. I don't know if the interface allows for funky account transfers of that nature.

I solved my problem with terminal not letting me input commands trough ssh, I just restored the phone, activated it with independence, installed the ssh on independence and it worked!!!! any questions on the ssh problem ask me at raulrea@gmail.com

The backup did not work, tried 3 times, restoring to 1.0.2 through iTunes etc and still did not work (using both the script, and by typing the commands manually).

Bit the bullet and ran the revirginizer. Worked just like the instructions say.

Other issues I ran into was preparing for the 1.1.1 update in iNdependence had to install the iNdependence SSH/SCP/SFTP, which conflicted with openSSH already on the iPhone, which was installed through installer.app

Upgraded to 1.1.1, but iNdependence couldn't jailbreak it successfully. DOWNGRADED to 1.0.2 again, upgraded again, and all was good. iNdependence took a long time to jailbreak (it hanged), I was just about to force-quit it when it came alive again. Patience people!

Copied over anySIM 1.1 with iNdependence, and it worked fine. Copied over Installer, and it upgraded itself to the latest version, but it couldn't install BSD subsystem. Turns out the download source is offline. There is now 2 BSD subsystems in Installer.app if you look now, but at least one of them works.

~50 restarts later, & I'm successfully on 1.1.1

Finally managed to get the seczone to back up. Had the problem where norz was stuck on "Waiting for data..." After about 10 attempts trying different things, this seemed to work for me.

This is what I did:

Held the menu and sleep buttons on the iphone to shut it down. Then I restarted it. Restarted my computer (MAC PRO)! When the computer had restarted I connected the iphone to the computer (via the dock). On my computer I have stopped iTunes running automatically when the iPhone is connected. Connected via SSH to the iphone using terminal.app and ran the commands to stop the comcenter and then backup the seczone.

Seczone was backed up sucessfully!! :)

The first iPhone I virginized used the iEraser method, so naturally I decided to try that after a couple of hours of messing around with "Waiting for data..." on this iPhone. Unfortunately, iEraser showed exactly the same symptoms... I may well just go ahead with the virginization anyway.

I agree with you. I'm trapped in the same step as many others. I guess is the norz file the cause of this anyway. With the wirginazer method, I used the first release of the ieraser file and got the "waiting for data..." issue, then I realized that had to use the ieraser2 file and everything worked flawless, so I say it again, I guess is the norz file...

Done! Worked perfectly on an unlocked, never upgraded 1.0.2 phone with non-original AT&T SIM. I was a little confused at the end of the script when nothing really happened. I expected it to immediately lock and deactivate upon reboot but it didn't. I then ran Independence, prepared for 1.1.1 upgrade, used iTunes to upgrade (make sure you "Update" rather than "Restore") and used independence again to Activate. I got lost here too because it took a while (~2 minutes) to jailbreak... just be be patient and follow the on-screen prompts from Independence.

Atterbom, I received that message too with iNdependence 1.25. Look for Niacin's TIFF exploit. That's how I unlocked mine (using a script on his site, I believe). That script did not work perfectly (lots of errors), but it put the phone in a state where iNdependence could complete the process.

I had used the re-virginizing process that was posted at Hackintosh prior to you guys releasing this. Any ideas what the problem is and whether I can fix it. My iPhone is still running unlocked on 1.0.2.

Add me to the "this works" list, I made it running every command by hand, no big deal, just pay attention to the syntax, and remember to chmod +x all your binaries, including the anySIM (this one appeared to be locked, and I had to start from the beginning).

Aside from that, everything went very smooth. So I left a unbricked, unlocked, 1.1.1 iPhone.

I forgot to add, remember to downgrade the baseband prior to virginizing or the "FW differences found!" will appear, just follow the downgrade recipe IF you had a bricked phone.

You need to install the BSD subsystem. That's why virginator.sh isn't finding "cat" and "touch". After you install it re-run virginator.

So just for clarification, if you previously had a phone that was unlocked with anysim, and you upgraded to 1.1.1, it would give you the invalid SIM message when you tried to activate. So then you downgrade to 1.0.2, use this method and your phone works again, on 1.0.2. Since the phone now works on 1.0.2, does that mean it's safe to try and upgrade to 1.1.1? Does this method actually undo the damage done by anysim, or does it just make it usable on 1.0.2?

I mean, if you want to upgrade to 1.1.1 and use AT&T as your carrier.

@chrisn750: It is supposed to repair the damage done by anySIM, it is safe to upgrade to 1.1.1 it will show the "incorrect SIM" message, in my case I used independence 1.2.5 to prepare the phone for the update so it could be jailbreak'd and used the new anySIM and it worked, and it can be reversed by oneSIM. A piece of advice, if you use anySIM 1.1p set it chmod +x AND insert the NEW SIM that will be used.

@johnlaurencesy: I noticed that with 1.02 in pre-1.1.1 by independence, when you finish the update it returns to full capacity. Try with independence 1.2.5

@honcheng: I suppose you could try bbupdater: ./bbupdater -f ./ICE03.14.08_G.fls -e ./ICE03.14.08_G.eep I also waiting for instructions to restore the seczone.backup

i followed the instructions, everything went fine apart from the fact that i was not able to update it using itunes (it started but then i got an error).

What I did then was I "rejailed" it using iNdependence. Which worked.

But now I cannot jailbreak it (says unable to write changed fstab). Also I cannot restore it (itunes says there was an unknown error). If I put it into recovery mode and then try to restore it it get rebooted and shortly after the small wait cirle appeas on the screen it seems to crash, reboot and itunes giving returning an error.

running the grestore command in iphuc does give an segmentation fault.

Also ituens says it cannot read from the phone. So i'm not able to sync. Apart from that it's running fine (phone part of course not working) but ssh rot access still is, but the root partition is read only

anyone of you having an idea waht else i could try?

My iPhone is working, but it crashes now and then and I lose a few things like EDGE settings and so on ...

Ok, problem fixed, this was due to some memory probs on my mac which was corrupting the fw image used for jailbreaking. Everything working again now. phew

Unfortunately I am not able to give the virginizer.sh the permission to execute.

When I type in ./chmod +x virginator.sh --> I get the error:

I now have had complete success after no wifi, no phone and no sound as posted above.

I have been able to upgrade to 1.1.1 with complete functionality. See my post under the name of Dazzz at modmyiphone at the link below.

make sure you change directory to be in the correct place when executing the command.

type cd /usr/bin

you can then type pwd to verify what directory you are in.

some posts have incorrectly said to type cd /usr and then cd /bin, but this would take you back to a non existent direct /bin. byt typing it as one command you get straight to /usr/bin where you should have copied the virginator.sh and other files.

its not ./chmod +...... its "chmod +x..." (without the quotation marks)

@thomas.gerig It was a typo in teh HOWTO.txt file in virginator-0.3.zip. The command to give virginator.sh execute permissions should be: chmod +x ./virginator.sh not: ./chmod +x virginator.sh

I had a "bricked" phone after updating to 1.1.1. I had previously used AnySim?, the very first version of it that came out. But I only had it unlocked for informational purposes, not to use it on another network. I use AT&T as my carrier. After it got "bricked" I downgraded to 1.0.2 and then used this method here to "revirginize" my phone. As soon as it was completed, the AT&T logo came back up, I had full signal, could call in and out, text messaging worked, everything. It was 100% fine again. But my question is what will happen if I try to upgrade to 1.1.1? Am I going to get an invalid SIM error? Keep in mind that I just want to use AT&T, not another carrier. Am I in the clear to update to 1.1.1 and use AT&T as if I had never even unlocked the phone in the first place, or does the "revirginizer" not actually virginize?

If you find this error: bbupdater: Error. Failed to initialize comm layer or nozr: Resource busy

make sure you did this: launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist or maybe need to do this: rm /System/Library/LaunchDaemons?/com.apple.CommCenter?.plist (make sure you have a copy of this file in your HD)

then restart your iphone and do your steps again ;) Good Luck!

I had an 1.0.2 version, unlocked with iUnlock very first version with text commands and etc. I made it just for fun. Got burn and restore to 1.0.2 working version. I have use this method re-virinilize the phone, put the restored version of 1.0.2, activated using wiNstaller and re-jailed after that. Upgraded with the iTunes and now I have virgin 1.1.1 iPhone.

was in the same boat. manually ran the commands on the first unlock run. followed the directions this time around (and pulled a couple of rsyncs of the filesystem in the process). seamless upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 in itunes, heading over to jailbreakme.com now.

ok here's the deal.

I just bought iphone and it came with 1.1.1 firmware. but I didn’t know that we could use apptapp and anysim with it so I downgraded to 1.0.2 firmware and then used apptapp and anysim 1.1 to unlock.

if I upgrade to 1.1.1 firmware now, what will happen? should I not do this without revirginizing?

My phone was unlocked with AnySim? 1.02

after this getting this error i processed to upgrade to 1.1.1 any way after jailbreaking had installed anySim 1.1.1 but it wont unlock my phone... i downgraded back to 1.0.2 and unlocked it again AnySim? till i can find a way to virginze it..

This tools works like a charm! iPhone 4G 1.0.2, unlocked with anySIM 1.0.1 previously.

This is going to be a dumb question, i am not sure how enter info into the Term program that i would install on iphone. I guess i would use iphone keyboard to type commands, then press enter key. I had tried this the first time i tried to unlock my iphone, but after a certain number of characters, i could not enter more, again i apolize for the ignorance.

I re-virginized my phone and everything went ok. I used the virginize.sh script. I did backup and copy off my Seczone, to be safe.

Now, I can't activate my phone with iTunes. I am not sure why it isn't working, but the error I am getting is:

"Could not complete the iTunes Store request. The store may be busy. Check your internet connection or try again later."

Has anyone seen this problem before? My phone displays the correct IMEI, so it would appear everything is ok with the seczone. I was able to get through most of the registration process and then I got stuck.

I suspect the problem has to do with a glitch with AT&T/Apple, but I thought I would post here, just in case.

o yea!! success baby.. before virginizing you have to force the baseband to change, so that it matches with the one that the virginizer has, there is a tutorial on how to do this here http://modmyifone.com/wiki/index.php/Downgrade_Baseband_1.1.1_to_1.0.2_OSX after doing this you can virginize without errors. thanks 4 the help everyone. oh and BigBoss?' method of revirginizing seems to be the easiest

Weird... it worked 100% for me. My IMEI is the same and I have 1.1.1 and the latest firmware.

You need to downgrade your baseband, your modem version is: 04.01.13, wich tells me that you upgraded to 1.1.1 and you bricked the phone. You have to first downgrade the OS version to 1.0.2, then you have to downgrade your baseband (http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/DowngradingBaseband) then you can do this page's instructions to revirginize and restore to 1.1.1 and do the appsnapp process.

I used WinSCP and it was so easy to just copy and paste the commands into the console. ;)

I just had small problem in the beggining because I had the verginiser_pack extracted in itself and I had an error with the 4th command: chmod +x ./norz After that it was a breese. Updating to 1.1.1 now before apple seals the jailbreakme.com deal with 1.1.2

1. use independence, put DFU mode ... use iTunes restore to 1.0.2

2. use Windows, use PACAY then iBrickr and install: BSD SubSystem?, BSD Base, BSD Extra, Mobile Terminal ... and Upload all tools for Downgrading Baseband + Virginizer to iPhone using iBrickr.

3. Follow method Downgrading Baseband then Revirginize ....

4. You will have your iPhone in 1.0.2 and Baseband 314

I used the revirginize script for my 1.0.2 phone. Then updated it to 1.1.1, jailbreak with TIFF exploit. Then used CARNAVAL. Then AnySim? 1.1 and my phone is working now, it is unlocked and updated from 1.0.2. thanks once again elite team for this awesome tool.

I have done EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING right, for 3 days in a row, and I still can't make my phone work on 1.1.1

This is a launch iPhone, unlocked in late August with iUnlock (before there were anySIM) and even though I downgrade, virginize with sucess, everytime I upgrade to 1.1.1 I get the grey out NO WI-FI.

My IMEI is showing correctly, and I get no errors on updating, but I don't have WI-FI, nor BLUETOOTH.

I'm losing my mind here, I've read every forum, every tutorial, followed several times and I get no errors whatsoever, just NO WI-FI option on Settings.

It would seem to me there might be a part of the whole baseband that won't erase, although I get no errors. Anyway, after downgrading to 1.0.2 everything works fine, wifi, bluetooth, etc.

I've read I'm not alone here, but maybe you guys can finally find a solution for it. Thank you

If you have already downgraded baseband, and virginize the phone, I would try manual DFU mode, then RESTORE on iTunes to 1.1.1 and try to jailbreak. It is what it comes to my mind right now.

Thank you Artificemm, I already tried that and didn't work. I tried manual DFU, I tried doing the whole thing on Mobile Terminal, and lastnight I even tried:

And when I get to that last steps I get the NO-WIFI on the settings, so I can't use the jailbreakme.com method. Bluetooth is gone too, as well as Edge settings.

Too bad it didn't worked, as far as I have read all these forums, the downgrade/revirginize combo is a better way than IPSF, if you are going that way, search for instructions on how to backup your ltoken, as it appears it gets zeroed and nobody is sure the IPSF guys have a copy of it.

Another thing that came to my mind, was an utility by Erica Sadun, UIlaunchctl or something like that, you can start or stop some processes, like CommCenter?, which I believe it could be what it is giving you trouble. Maybe you could give it a last shot, by downgrading to 102, copying this, use the independence "pre-restore" so that apps can survive.

No, you could use oneSIM to undo the anySIM 1.1 patch, there is no need to go back to 1.0.2, 1.1.1 would be the recommended firmware to use meanwhile somebody releases a new jailbreak.

Geohot's blog, makes a comment on losing wifi if you do a reboot between ieraser and iunlocker. The fix he proposes is: <quote> If you do reboot, simply make a launch daemon to run bbupdater -f myver.fls That restores the firmware. </quote>, give it a shot.

Hey guys, I'm lost on what to do next.....

I've tried every method I can find out there among the thousands of posts and dozens of walk-throughs but nothing seems to work and I believe I'm not alone.

Here's my situation: - Bought a v1.1.1 phone - successfully jailbreak'd it and anysim'd it using the iphone.unlock.no method. was working fine for several days - installed some app which caused me to get the invalid SIM error - tried several recovery methods but finally realized that downgrading phone and baseband to try and recover was my only option - successfully downgraded to v1.0.2 and baseband 3.14.08. - successfully jailbroke again with ibrickr/AppTappInstaller?/etc

However, my problem remains: - bad IMEI 04999xx - no wifi - no bluetooth - invalid SIM error

Try running oneSIM, I don't know if it can be run on 1.02, maybe you need to upgrade to 1.11. Remember that in the downgrading stage, you have to use anySIM 1.02 to recover the IMEI.

Ok this is going to out me as a total newbie, but when I go into terminal an SSH into my phone, I'm not able to run any commands. Every time I enter 3 characters, it automatically gives me a message saying "Connection to 192.XXX.X.XXX closed."

Any ideas how to fix this so I can run the commands in Terminal?

@jtukka, you have to reinstall bsd subsystem and the terminal ... better to use OpenSSH from ibrickr/Installer ... not using SSH from independence (most of case are because of independence)

If so I don't need to revirginize but after upgrading to 1.1.1 jailbreakme.com method didn't work and phone never called inself back. I had to downgrade to 1.0.2 again but still got 04.XX baseband. Hello! My problem (two posts above) was solved. I just followed the same steps posted in here but with a different secpack and it worked like a breeze. After downgrading the baseband to 3.14.08_G, I used the virginizer scripts and finally 1.1.1'ed it.

i have a previously unlocked phone that got upgraded to 1.1.1 - i have it back to 1.0.2 and the only problem is revirginizing. i am in europe, if that makes any difference. every time i run the scripts in terminal, i get these 2 errors:

ok I usually dont comment on pages like tese but i have been reading just about every page on the net and everytime i think i get close to an answer to my proble i end up disappointed. If anyone out there can tell me based on my problem description weather i should just give up and buy a new phone....please just put me out of my misery and say it. I am Geting the 16(resource busy) error. it bagan when i restored my upgraded 1.0.2 phone (which at the time when the error happend was a working 1.1.1. when i went to unlock it again with anysim (yes i used the correct version) it froze for a long long time so i reset the phone. When all the crap was said and done, i ended up with no wifi, no signal, no blutooth and no imei.

I tried the reflashing processes found all over the net but when i got to the bbupdater point where it says "waiting for data..." it got stuck and i waited forever, so again i reset. when i tried repeating the process i get to the point to unloading commcenter and even tried deleting it from the directory but always says 16(resource busy). I can tell that the command to unload has been executed because there is no lag after. afetr i try ieraser and anything else.

What my question is, is there anyway to correct this error. I have high hopes that if i can manage to bypass this error that i can get my "paper weight" to be a phone again. Please help me out, i've had some bad luck with iphones lately. after this error happened i bought another one which was 1.1.1 oob but dropped it and messed it up (to sa the least) luckly apple store replaced it, however they gave me a 1.1.2 oob so i have to wait for the new update to come out. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN...CONSIDER IT A CHRISTMAS PRESENT???

Hello, i've retained my correct IMEI with the IPSF fake server method. But rewriting my baseband with 3.0.14 and my corrent loader (run through geomaker.exe) did not solve the 0049 problem! Any clue?! I think if the IPSF fake method could successfully return my correct IMEI the seczone should be repareable?! Info: My phone is a out of the box 1.1.1. Something went wrong when i ran anysim1.1 and after that i imediately got the imei 0049 problem! I appreciate any help!

question, so if I jailbreaked my 1.0.2 iPhone using iBrickr do I need to virginize my iPhone before upgrading to the newer firmwares?

HELP!! I have phone that was updated by ibrick. it went in to an Activation Loop. however I ran ieraser and this method and keeps coming up with the modem firmware: 04.02.13.G ], epp version:208, eep revision:1, bootloader_version:4.6_M3S2?. no matter what i do I can get the modem firmware to change. What do I need to do

I was able to get anysim working on my 1.0.2 phone. I tried to upgrade to 1.1.1 and lost my sim unlock. Now I'm back to 1.0.2 and anysim says it cannon unlock this phone. Any suggestions?

1. Downgrade your baseband 2. Re-Virginize 3. Install Appsnap 4. Unlock with anySIM

this works great.. was able to re-virginize the phone per instructions.

thank you guys so much for the autoscript, worked great on my unlocked iphone that "lost" its iccid randomly one day after months and totally fried all phone functions.

Hi. I have 1.0.2 iphone, and the screen went completely black. However, itunes recognizes my phone when I plug it in. I need to revirginize my iphone to get a warranty for the black screen. Can I revirginize my iphone without being able to see anything on the screen? I think that SSH is currently disabled, and don't think I can turn it on with the black screen. Please Help!

I was trying to unlock my iPhone using ZiPhone? 3.0 and I was using a iPhone firmwire 1.1.4 in the middle of the process of Unlocking it I removed the Sim Card (Stupid me) and it stopped Unlocking and it shows this:

When I try reseting it (holdnig in the power botton and the Home bottom for 30 seconds) it starts up a bunch of letters and coding scrolls down and then the message above displays. I tried everything and iTunes dosn't detect "Device" or "Phone". I even tried to reset it with ZiPhone? software and it dosn't find it either.

Hello everyone, My problem is the following: I bought my iPhone in March. I unlocked it using Ziphone 3.0, and my phone was working fine until 2 days ago, when I had the amazing idea to update my iPhone to version 2.0. My phone is now unlocked (i went back to 1.1.4), but I have no signal coming thru (no bars)... and after 2 or 3 minutes, my phone shows a "no service" sign... So, everything else is working, but the phone function (which is the main purpose of a phone...) :( (oh, and the installer also seems to have vanished from my phone, like all the apps I had installed, but that´s a lesser problem). Can you please help me? I´ve been thinking about revirginizing my phone, but am kind of scared of what that could do to my iphone (erase everything, or brick my phone, which I think happened already when I tried to unlock the 2.0 version the first time...) BTW, I´m not a computer expert, so if there´s an automatic program or a detailed "how to" website, please let me know!

Well Im in the same boat as some others. My Iphone(original, not the 3g) is locked on a screen showing the usb icon and the itunes. Upon doing some investigation, I find the term 'bricked' is applicable to my case. I inadvertantly updated my 1.1.3 to 2.0 in ITunes. I have tried restore it via Itunes and have tried to use the Ziphone application but nothing works. I only get the screen mentioned above and when the slide button is engaged, I see the phone pad for emergencys only. PLEASE CAN MY PHONE BE SAVED?

I would like to know which firmware i should have to run the Virginizer. Could i do over 1.1.4? I´m not able to restore to a previous version of 1.1.4

And on 1.1.4, 2.1 and 2.2.1 could i run the Virginizer changing the secpack and the ICE file?
