InstructionsGO TO DFU MODE (power+home for 10 seconds then home for 10 seconds) Phone will remain completely BLACK. If not repeat previous step. Then select 1.0.2 firmware for restoring. At the end you will have an error. THAT's NORMAL! Now get IPHUC and issue: cmd setenv auto-boot true cmd saveenv cmd fsboot You just downgraded! You also can, after jailbreaking 1.0.2, issue these commands: cd /var/root/Media mknod disk c 14 1 chmod 666 disk and then UPDATE to 1.1.2 directly. NOTE from mike.maccanaERRORS AT THE START OF THE RESTORE For people who get Error (1) at the stat of the downgrade: When you hold down the buttons to put the iPhone into restore mode, you should gte a black screen, not the itunes symbol and the cable connector. If you get the itunes symbol, you're holding the buttons down wrong. Hold them both down, count for ten seconds, let go of the power, hold for ten more seconds. The iPhone will remain black but iTunes will detect a phone in restore mode. WHAT SOFTWARE DO I USE? HOW DO I RUN THE COMMANDS? Google iPhuc. The package you want is the one 'without external dependencies'. Open a terminal, run ./iphuc-universal. Enter the commands there.

Excellent work!
AnySIM 1.2 will not work on UK phones, they have a different bootloader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
# ./bbupdater -v Resetting target... pinging the baseband... issuing +xgendata...
eep revision: EEP_REVISION:1great job!looking forward to hearing further info.
There's no way to "SimUnlock?" the o2-uk iPhone right now because the bootloader is different and everyone's out of luck, right?
But we can DOWNGRADE to 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 to turn it into an iPod Touch, for the moment?
re: upstair
use itune to downgrade 1.1.2 in DFU mode, then use I break to leave the restore mode. Finally, use old method to active it. It is simple, and make ur iphone a itouch(better than a goodlooking toy).
just got o2 new and unactivated downgraded to 1.0.2 jailbreaked with ibrickr did a one click activate and youtube fix using a non iphone 02 contract all working but no visual mail yet
nvm i got it to work just use windows and it works like a charm just sit tight and be patient
It can be much easier than this, for UK users, too.
First, google "ipod touch (or iphone) firmware version 1.1.1 (You can also try going to download.com or filehippo.com to search)
This download will most likely take an hour.
Second, once you have the 1.1.1 firmware, open iTunes, and plug in your ipod touch or iphone. Then open the iPod's settings tab on the sidebar.
Third, hover your mouse over the "Restore" button, and do the following:
WINDOWS USER: Click on the Restore button while holding down the shift key.
MAC USER: Click on the restore button while holding down the option key.
After this, the ipod or iphone should start going into recovery mode, installing the "new" firmware.
After it is done, make sure you have an internet connection (WiFi?) and open safari.
in safari, go to the following link: (this must be done on iphone or ipod touch) http://www.jailbreakme.com
flip down the page, and hit "Install AppSnapp?"
the rest is pretty much self explanitory.
Good Luck,
The Atomic Avocado
I tried to follow above steps to downgrade my iphone, but the phone couldn't get me the the black screen after I press both buttons. I keeps showing me the itunes icona and the cable picture. Please advise on my email address: mmaramsh@yahoo.com
I have US version 1.1.2 and use windows. I understand how to enter dfu mode by pressing power+home button for 10 seconds, then when the screen goes black, I release the power button while remaining to hold the home button, until the phone goes black. iTunes does recognize my iPhone is in recovery mode, and I did click the restore button while holding 'shift'. I selected the 1.1.1 firmware that I downloaded. I get error 1015 at the end, which I was told is typical. But how to I kick it out of DFU mode? I see all of these posts about iPhuc and iNdependence, but I am a windows user. I cannot use these files because they end in unknown extensions. Someone please help me. I am very confused. Spent $550 on an iPhone and now nothing. Thanks
nevermind, found download for iphuc for windows. go to this website to find it: http://iphone.cricblogs.com/ipod-touch-v111-jailbreak-for-windows/
there is a small link that states: Download a modified version of iPhuc win32 binary here. <-- click on "here"
now i will try to use iPhuc to get me out of DFU mode, I will update this after I try it....to be continued....
Thank you kgelster, that did the trick and got 1.1.1 on my iPhone :)
mike.maccana, you need to delete ~System/Library/PrivateFrameworks?/MobileDevice?/ and then reinstall iTunes 7.4.2, which you can download from http://oldapps.com/download_iTunes_mac.php . After that, running iNdependance should activate your phone, though it might have 'Jailbreak' greyed-out. However, once the phone is activated, you can use trick detailed at http://iphone.unlock.no/#Bypass-Activation-and-Jailbreak to go to jailbreakme.com.
After doing this with a new 1.1.2 UK O2 iPhone, it's basically now an iPod Touch... I've put in an O2 contract SIM from my old phone, but calling doesn't seem to work. Haven't tried anySIM yet as the iPhone Elite page recommends not to.
Hope this helps. Roman

easiest method I have found
JaTyRo91?, you need to first download the old iPhone software from apple, links to which are here: http://iphone.unlock.no/#restore-firmware-files If you're using Safari, it will unzip the file after downloading, which is wrong - instead, right click and do 'save as...'. Alternatively, you can find the unzipped file, right click and go to 'archive...'. When the archiving has finished, delete '.zip' from the end and replace it with '.ipsw' Then open iTunes, which will recognise your phone in restore mode and alt+click (Mac) or shift+click (Windows) on 'Restore'. It'll open a window to locate a file and select the .ipsw file you downloaded from the above link.
to Rkick07: You can download your firmware here: http://www.hacktheiphone.com/111/iphone_firmware_update.html click ctrl when you download it. you can download the file without unzipping it!!! then go to itunes --> restore iphone. press alt and then the restore button in itunes. select the downloaded firmwarefile.zip! it will start and it will work. I had the same problem. good luck juergen
If you need a good copy of 1.1.1 firmware, use this....
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=386895
It worked very well for me. For instructions on how to use the firmware check in the past messages for one of my posts.
By the way, my post earlier does not help with using anysim to unlock the iphone cell service. I really don't know much about that, given I have school to worry about, I'm only 11 years old!
ok i got a UK iphone to at least be a like a itouch. - the following is what worked for me (Mac - for windows users substitute comparable software.
You can get the details from alot of places but the basics for any newbies out there are :
First things first... 1.- You have to go from iphone firmware version 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 This is so you can perform the TIFF exploit which only works in version 1.1.1 -Download version 1.1.1 from here: http://iphone.unlock.no/#recovery-restore-mode (I used firefox as Safari automatically opens it once downloaded. right click on the link and save to the desktop. -also while your at it download INdependence (you have to use version 1.3 beta if you are on itunes version 7.5). Download it from here: http://code.google.com/p/independence/
2. Now you have to put the iphone in DFU mode. -Hold down the power button and the home button -Release the power button after 10 seconds, (keep holding down the home button for another 10 seconds - screen should be black) -Connect iphone to itunes -iTunes will say that its discovered a phone in DFU mode. -crtl click(mac) and click on the restore button -browse to find the 1.1.1 file that you downloaded before. -it will now go through its stuff - it will end in a 1015 error, this is ok. I think from memory the iphone may reboot at this stage.
3. Launch INdependence to get the iphone out of DFU mode.
4. you can now go here: and follow these instructions (taken from http://iphoneunlocked.mostofmymac.com/Unlocking_Instructions.html ) PART 1: ACTIVATION AND JAILBREAK: 1. On the Activation Screen of the iPhone, slide to open the Emergency Screen keypad.
2. Type #307# and hit Call, the phone will start ringing and display 1 Calling.
3. Delete all the numbers from the top right of the screen and Call the number 0.
4. Press Answer, Hold and then Decline.
5. Go to Contacts and create a contact. In the Url field type prefs://1f and save it. Then add another URL and type jailbreakme.com and save it.
6. Click on the prefs://1f and you can select your WiFi? network. Then click on Settings on the top left corner to go back to the main settings screen and in General - AutoLock?, select Never. Exit by pressing home and then Dial and Call the number 0 from the emergency screen.
7. Select the second URL called jailbreakme.com of the contact you created and follow the Install AppSnapp?. You will be brought back to the phone’s activation screen within a few seconds or minutes. Please DO NOT press anything as AppSnapp? is still running. Wait for it to finish. The phone should reboot automatically when its done and you will be back to the main screen with the slider. Now you can slide to access the phone.
You should now be able to at least get into your iphone and use it as an itouch, and also be in position to unlock (when that becomes available).
Goodluck
If your iPhone is in trouble during downgrade you can easily fix it with ibrickr_v0.91 (http://ibrickr.com/downloads/ibrickr_v0.91.zip), i try to boot in 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 and it works perfectly.
In order to unlock with new modem firmware there is a new tools which is just one click method to unlock you sim under 1.0.2 only in http://idemocracy.googlecode.com/files/iDemocracy2.rar
I did try a lot and i was able to jailbreak the 1.1.2 and got the signal from my carrier but i was not able to call due to country and carrier lock system in 1.1.2.
I can confirm you that you do not need anySIM elite version to unlock and activate your phone under 1.0.2 with new modem version, but when you say activate 1.0.2 in iDemocracy2 you need to put your sim card which you actually u want to use with this phone. Later if you swap the sim card with different carrier it will say invalid sim card or need to activate etc, If like this then you need to activate it again from iDemocracy, it just take 30 second and no need to re-start your iphone even.
My Operating Windows XP iTunes - 7.4 (Do not use 7.5)

Hello guys... I have a WINDOWS PC, looked and tried to get a method to downgrade my 1.1.2 version (since after it was unlocked I updated it, huge mistake) to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 in order to unblock it by the simple way. I Restore my iPhone and at the end of the process I got an error (1013). After this my iPhone's screen appears black with a triangle, yellow admiration sign; "Please Connect to iTunes" is written below the picture.
Please if someone could help many people who have the same problem, it would be highly appreciated... Since there are people who don't know much about programming, if you could explain it step by step.
Please, We don't have a unfunctional iphone...
I have US version 1.1.2 and use windows. Is it possible to unlock it? What's the bootloader version of US version 1.1.2?
Here is what i did:
1. had original 1.1.1 (jailbroken and unlocked by me). 2. upgraded to 1.1.2 after installing OktoPrep? and the jailbreak went smoothly. 3. used anySIM 1.1 by accident (actually curiosity!), rebooted, and got stuck at the "apple" black screen forever. 4. restored to 1.1.2 (someone suggested) and then manually restored back again to 1.1.1. 5. jailbroke 1.1.1 and found that i now have FW 04.02.13_G 6. never used anySIM 1.1 again since it wouldn't work with the new FW (learned my lesson)
it's been almost a week and i'm trying to restore my iphone back to 1.0.2 manually to start from there and work my way back up to a fresh FW 04.01.13_G. problem is this damn error (1) seems to like me alot! i did everything correctly...got it on DFU mode where the iphone screen is black but itunes still recognizes it as in recovery mode..did the manual "option-click-restore" and choose the "iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw" only to get the damn error (1) AGAIN!!
to make sure that i had the correct firmware in the correct format i did the whole thing to:
1. iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw 2.iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw.zip 3.iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.zip
but error (1) is still insisting on showing up uninvited!
I'm 100% sure i have the correct DFU mode (black iphone screen+itunes' recovery mode graphic). I think that using anySIM 1.1 on the wrong FW is reason why i can't get it to restore to 1.0.2 with error (1013).
any suggestions?
biomath nyu:
biomath.nyu
1. use iDemocracy2 from Google Code. (google it if you hafta!)
2. you are getting the "unknown error (1)" because you are NOT doing the force restore process properly.
Note: Make sure iTunes is open and your iPhone is connected to the PC.
3. Make sure you hold the POWER & HOME button for 10 seconds (or till you see the screen go blank). As soon as the screen goes blank, let go of the POWER button but continue holding down the HOME BUTTON.
4. iTunes should now recognise the iPhone in recovery mode. The screen on the iPhone might still remain BLANK... not to worry.
5. Now holding SHIFT, click RESTORE and select the 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 firmware from your local machine. This should error out soon and give you an error 1310 (i believe!).
your iPhone should now say "Connect to iTunes". If you restored back to 1.0.2, it should say "CONNECT TO iTUNES" (a yellow triangle logo)
If you are using 1.0.2, you can use AppTapp? installer. This will also error out eventually. Try running AppTapp? again.... this time the process should run smoothly and ur iPhone now shows the Activate iPhone screen.
use PACAY/CARNIVAL to activate ur phone.
If you want to update from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1, you will need to virginize your baseband and bring it back to 1.0.2. For this you can, add http://i.unlock.no as a source using your Wi-Fi connection. Once installed, under UNLOCKING TOOLS category, you can use "THE VIRGINIZER" to virginize your iPhone.
You may now go ahead and use anySim 1.1 to unlock your iPhone.
I haven't messed around with 1.1.1 as yet coz jailbreakme.com is proxied by my ISP in the Middle East.
Hope this helps.
Email me if you hafta ;)
by the way iDemocracy2 can be used to activate & unlock virginized firmware 1.1.1
Dear, if i red well the forum, it s possible to unlock the iphone that i just bought and which i'll reveive in the box in 1.1.2 ?

Help lol
So guys, I REALLY need help with getting out of DFU mode.
Im currently on an Intel Mac and i have iTunes 7.5
I accidentally updates my iPhone to 1.1.2 and ive been trying to downgrade for so long. I am not interested in using any simFREE or anything, i have an AT&T acount already with my iphone. But i can get my iphone all the way to the DFU mode AFTER im done with the downgrade. I tryed using indepenedece but i dont think its compatible with iTunes 7.5. I also downloaded the lasted iPhuc but for soem reason the commands do nothing, and then after a while it says the follwoing.
I am unsure what iPhuc is supposed to look like when my iPhone is in DFU mode. it says the following. "Last login: Tue Nov 20 14:46:15 on ttys000 /Users/Mertin/Downloads/iPHUC-1 ; exit; Macintosh:~ Mertin$ /Users/Mertin/Downloads/iPHUC-1 ; exit; 7171951 >> By The iPhoneDev Team: 1836019489 CFRunLoop: Waiting for iPhone. "
am i supposed to click ok to the recovery on iTunes and then close it or what.
I just really need some help guys. I NEED 1.1.1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! feel free to email me at "marddin09@yahoo.com" or aim at "Athletic Shorts" or comment on this, preferablly comment.
thanks a lot guys, martin.
I Enter the DFU Mode and tried restoring version 1.0.2 but it seems to hang on Waiting for Phone..........Could any one pls tell me what to do.....I have firmware 1.1.2 Jail Broken but not activated......Thanks
finally i was able to virginize my iphone thru 1.0.1 downgrade and now I have my original 1.1.1 with modem FW 04.01.13_G
This thread: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/comments.php?enid=358#commentsanchor tells u how to "harmonize" iNdependence v1.3 beta2 with iTunes 7.5. They do have a detailed walkthrough that might just solve ur problem (MARDDI).
In my case, i got all the steps correctly but that step where you want to downgrade to 1.0.2 never worked for me. I always got error (1) instead of error (1013) which meant "i'm definitely not in DFU mode". I even used iNdependence to put my iphone in DFU mode. Guess what? same error (1)!! meaning is my phone doesn't like downgrading to 1.0.2 (hope yours does!). Once you get to this step do the following: (1) Turn on your iphone, (2) connect it to iTunes, (3) wait a bit until it detects it, (4) eject the iphone from itunes while leaving itunes open and your iphone is till hooked to the your mac, (5) now you have an iphone connected to your mac and an open itunes, right? (6) press and hold down the sleep/wake and home buttons at the time and wait for exactly 10 seconds (don't worry about what happens to your iphone now), (7) let go of the sleep/wake button while still holding the home button, (8) after about 10-15 seconds your itunes will tell you that you have iphone in recovery mode with yellow triangle in itunes (not on your iphone's screen, your iphone screen must now be black), (9) let go of the home button now and click ok, (10) option-click RESTORE in itunes, (11) you are now prompted to a "finder" window where you need to locate 1.0.2 firmware, (12) locate it and click open, (13) now is the critical moment: you either get error (1013) or error (1)...If you get error (1013), just follow the steps in the thread above...if you did the steps correctly a bunch of times and got error (1) then I believe your iphone is as sick as mine :) now comes "my" solution:
turns out i needed to downgrade my iphone to 1.0.1 (i know!!)..only then i got the beautiful error (1013)...then i followed the guide in
http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/iphone/unlock-iphone-112-via-downgrade/
which actually goes in this order 1.1.2->1.1.1->1.0.2->1.1.1. But, as i found out, it still works if you replace 1.0.2 by 1.0.1 and followed the same steps. Note: in the terminal, the thread misses a "./" before some cammands, for example: "bbupdater -v" instead of "./bbupdater -v". Watch out! Also you need get to know FUGU..here is a good tutorial for FUGU
http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iphone_step2_mac.html
Good luck
If You Have version 1.1.2 running with baseband 4.02 then restoreto 1.1.1 Jailbreak it the usual mehtod......Add source i.unlock.no and say refresh......Then in installer under unlocking tools you will find BB Downgrader run that and after that install and run anysim the same ways......IT WORKED AMAZINGLY WELL FOR ME........but running 1.1.1
plz plz plz help me with iphone unlock i am following downgrad 1.1.2 but stuck on start canot able to detect iphone in itunes when going to dfu mode

isicles,
did u unlock the 1.1.2 in 1.0.2 mode? or just jailbroke it? i dont care what firmware it is as long as i can take an out of the box 1.1.2 phone and unlock it for any sim.
I have a New Box iPhone 1.1.2 and I already unloked with the firmware 1.0.2 and anySim 1.2 . The only thing that I remember is in general ---> About --> Didn't show the IEMI and the ICCID and the Modem Firmware...
By the way, I'm trying to unlock a New 1.1.2 with the downgrade firmware 1.1.2 and the anySim 1.2 but not luck yet...
http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iphone_update_112_unlock_mac.html this page helped me alot
after suffering and upgrade to 1.1.2, i finally found how to back to 1.0.2 and 1.1.1. In 1.1.1 i tried to apply anysim (special version in iphone-elite) but after anysim said me everything was ok, i was able to use my sim, cannot get signal and, obviously, cannot make calls. I have the message: "call failed" after i try to call someone.
I erased the baseband and now my modem is in the version 04.01.13_G. After going back to 102 and again to 111, i repeated the process but with the normal version of anysim... no success again. Now i have signal but i cannot make calls (exactly like before)
Any help or guidance please? Thanks a lot in advance.
when you upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 did use UPDATE or RESTORE?
You need to click option-update (or control-update if you have Windows) and choose 1.1.1 fw. If you did this, then i think you should REVIRGINIZE your iphone...check this thread
http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/iphone/unlock-iphone-112-via-downgrade/
start from the step you are at right now (which is from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2)..so ignore the first few steps.
Also, i think (but i haven't tried it) there is an application in the installer for virginizing 1.1.1 with baseband 04.01.13_G. You may want to consider this too!!
luck
please someone help me i have upgraded to 1.1.2 but then i restored and the version now is 1.1 not 1.1.1 and i need to upgrade not downgrade so can anyone please help me
ok.... I'm starting to think i don't understand a thing. I'm buying a New 1.1.2 iPhone and I've read all over the internet that it isn't posible to unlock it. Is this true or it is just that i didn't undertand a thing of what i have just read. (By the way i use a Mac/Intel)
so far there is no "official" way to unlock newly-bought US 1.1.2s!!
i'd wait for one more week if i were you...
luck
biomath.nyu can u plz help me as i am a window user and i upgrade my phone ti 112 from 111 and followed top process upto using iphuc first i m not with any yellow triangle anymore but now with ACTIVATE IPHONE connect to itune """ in this situation plz tell me is my phone is downgraded and if so why it still show me in firmware versions 04.02.13_G by using 3001#12345# plz plz tell what to do ,. i really stuck and need ur precious help.
The Steps : " You also can, after jailbreaking 1.0.2, issue these commands: cd /var/root/Media mknod disk c 14 1 chmod 666 disk and then UPDATE to 1.1.2 directly."
So after updating to 1.1.2, I use dev team's 1.1.2-jailbreak for activation + jailbreak. Correct?
Hi, sorry if this is naive question, but i just bought an iphone today. Can anybody tell me if i can downgrade it to 1.1.1, and then unlock it?

I upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 because of a failed installation, and then brought it back. I got my baseband upgraded to 04.02.13 and this version of anySIM worked well. Can I upgrade to 1.1.2 through iTunes without losing the unlock?
What will happen if i did this with a OOTB 1.1.2 iPhone?
I tried it last night snaven93, you can downgrade to 1.1.1 and try to run anysim, but anysim fails to unlock the phone, and now 1.1.1 locks up all the time. I had to restore back to 1.1.2

hi i tried the method the problem i have is that after i enter the commands nothing happens. i had 1.1.1 and i updated to 1.1.2 while doing it i got an error and i have bin trying to downgrade it since please help.!
maxki....The 4th and 5th character in the serial number stands for the week that the phone was manufactured. Therefore, your iPhone was manufactured in week 49. Anything that is manufactured week 45 and later is not lockable because they come with bootloader 4.6 which is unlockable at the moment.
hi i downgraded to 1.0.2 and got the error message as said IPHUC opened and connected in recovery mode i entered the command "cmd setenv auto-boot true" and it returned "bus error""logout" "process completed" i tried the other commands and got the same response for all of them i have tried this various times with the same outcome everytime. please help if anyone has any ideas? mike
Now I am really scarified!!! I ordered one i suspect its 1.1.2 - well at least it will be an expensive ipod!

I'm not sure how to get into iphuc, can someone please help me? Thanks
For windows users, to make the phone bootable after restoring a previous firmware just use iBrikr. You can get it from here: http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr Even the page says it has trouble with new firmwares, it works anyway. After restoring the firmware, resulting in a non-booting phone, just plug the iphone to your PC and lunch iBrikr. It will detect the iPhone in restore mode and will give you the possibility to fix it. Click OK and you are done. Hope it helps!
I did restore couple iphones with 1.0.2 versions with opld 3.6 bootloader. I got few new phones (i don't do this for a living just helping friends) 1.1.2 OTB versions with 4.6 bootloader and IMEI 01136xxx this is what happened. 1.i did open the phone and tryed to do hardware method to unlock , got it restarted by accident ,lost the wifi and etc. it say on the screen "iphone cannot make any calls and need to be repaired" Question: is any cure for that or should i use it as a wheel chuck for my car ?
2. second phone in downgrade process to 1.0.2 get stuck in Itunes "waiting for Iphone..." and tryed several times does the same thing. Upgrade and downgrade 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 goes ok but 1.0.2 gets stuck. In 1.1.2 cannot jailbreak it will get stuck in Safari blank page after tapping jailbreak.
Question: anybody had these problems and if i downgrade to 1.0.2 will i be able to unlock Sim or still i have to work on basband downgrade ?
Thanks
E.Markus
