  issue 17 (iphone camera shutter wont open) commented on by boogityofdoom   -   This just happened to me, too. I'm running a jailbroken iPhone 3GS with 3.0. I took pictures with my phone yesterday. I synced the pictures to my laptop and then went to take another picture. That's when the bug appeared for me. If I rotate the phone, the icons rotate. I can go home with no problem. I can open the camera roll. I am able to switch from camera to video, but only if I let the application sit open for a minute or so. One thing to note, the icon to go to the camera roll still has the last picture I took even though that photo is no longer on the phone. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior or now. This could have nothing to do with the jb and more to do with something funky in the photo syncing process. That's just a guess though.

(talking about chronic-dev, not iphone-dev).

It's all about the timing, with respect to getting into DFU mode. In DFU mode, the screen is blank; it's not the same as having the iPhone showing the USB cable. I kept getting .... error (6) and kept trying and finally got it. Memorize/write down the keypress sequence and timing and follow it; don't use the screen prompts if you start off out of sync due to turning it off too slowly. If you want to email me, put "spam" in the subject <sic> to bypass my filters.

  Ditto, but then I finally got it. It's all about the timing, with respect to getting into DFU mode. In DFU mode, the screen is blank; it's not the same as having the iPhone showing the USB cable. I kept getting .... error (6) and kept trying and finally got it. Memorize/write down the keypress sequence and timing and follow it; don't use the screen prompts if you start off out of sync due to turning it off too slowly.
