When I try to configure llvm-svn I get this:

$ ./configure --enable-optimized
checking build system type... powerpc-apple-darwin8.10.0
checking host system type... powerpc-apple-darwin8.10.0
checking target system type... powerpc-apple-darwin8.10.0
checking type of operating system we're going to host on... Darwin
checking target architecture... PowerPC
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create 
See `config.log' for more details.

I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.10.

I tried using this: PATH=/opt/local/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin
Still same error...

Okay I fixed the problem by reinstalling Xcode.

I've got the same error, running on a Ubuntu 7.10, fresh install on a vmware instance.

Try reinstalling GCC.
