Comment by Billygsxr, Today (7 hours ago) when I hold the button and it says backgrounding enabled I let it go and it goes back to the main menu. Something I am doing wrong? Comment by jasonjei, Today (7 hours ago) Works great with my Hutchinson 3 (和記) iPhone 3G in Hong Kong. Would backgrounding an app like Pandora while surfing the net block incoming calls with a 3G network, or is 3G designed to handle call interruption any time? I realise this may be a network resource hog. Comment by jasonjei, Today (7 hours ago) And thanks for writing this app too. Is there a way we can contribute, either through labour or financial support? Comment by Billygsxr, Today (7 hours ago) nevermind, I didn't know I had to relaunch the app. what kind of apps does this work for? it doesn't work for a youtube video downloader, like the video does not continue to play when I lock or go to the menu. is this only for network apps like AIM? Comment by avalanchenut, Today (6 hours ago) I installed it and enabled it on aim after I got signed in on it and the program closed. Now normally it will stay connected for five minutes after you close but mine is showing that it is reconnecting when I go back as if it is not working. Has anyone else had any issues with this and AIM? Comment by beaugiles.net, Today (6 hours ago) Works all good here with BeejiveIM & Last.fm. Incredibly awesome, I can't thank you enough :D Comment by BassirC, Today (5 hours ago) Yes, to those having problems with AIM, it doesn't seem to be working because the push code isn't in the application. Applications like Mobilechat and Beejive work because they are already push compatible and are just waiting for Apple to launch the servers. I think. Comment by appleiphoneschool, Today (5 hours ago) with Twinkle the app closes right away even if I hold down the home button. I get no popup. Comment by lecaude, Today (5 hours ago) I tried it with SimplifyMedia? (music player) and it seems to crash after a few seconds/minutes :( Comment by psychoboogie, Today (5 hours ago) anyone know bundle identifiers for beejive, last.fm, pandora? something isn't working, and kinda want to reinstall quickgold.. thx Comment by keith.ajmani, Today (5 hours ago) It seems that when you un-background a backgrounded application, it relaunches? I was testing it with "Rooms" (IRC client), and the backgrounding worked perfectly. But when I unbackgrounded, it disconnected and then quit the app. Comment by lecaude, Today (5 hours ago) @keith.ajmani I think that's how it's supposed to work... Comment by Invid72, Today (4 hours ago) Not working for me here. When I press the home button, whatever app I'm running immediately quits like it was force-quit. I thought it might be because I'm running quickgold, but after an uninstall and reboot it's the same thing. After some trougleshooting, it seems that Intelliscreen is causing the conflict. Comment by bubbaon...@aol.com, Today (4 hours ago) It has badge glitches when I use palringo and beejive...it says 0 as a badge all the time when I respring, reboot, or shut down it still says 0 as a badge Comment by lecaude, Today (4 hours ago) @Invid72 Hmm just started to make this also after I updated IntelliScreen?... Comment by kevroc, Today (4 hours ago) This is a cool app. Seems like it might be finicky with applications that rely on active network connections, which would really cut down on some of the usefulness. But it's great to be able to go right back to a certain screen in an app. Comment by lecaude, Today (4 hours ago) Found the problem, last update of Intelliscreen as Performance tab, disable these options and Backgrounder should work Comment by emarshall, Today (4 hours ago) This is awesome. Works great with Pandora. Comment by Mike.Kerfeld, Today (3 hours ago) Wow, thank you for this. Now all we need is copy/paste... Comment by jshbbe, Today (3 hours ago) @bubbaon...@aol.com I noticed this too, but on Palringo if you go back to your buddy list before you exit the application, the badge will update when you get new messages. For some reason, if you have the chat window open when quitting Palringo, the badge won't update. Comment by saskwatch, Today (3 hours ago) Is there a way to modify the app icon to indicate that the app is running in the background? If not, will there be a GUI to manage what is currently in background, or even to manage the app defaults? This comment is not visible to normal users. Undelete comment Comment by stevenbecht, Today (3 hours ago) For the network dependent applications, I've found running insomnia will keep the connections up. This will, however, consume more battery more than normal though... Comment by changrenyong, Today (3 hours ago) Wow...this is great! So far i have tested the iphone-backgrounder to work on the following apps when my iPhone is on WiFi?: - Safari (without iphone-backgrounder, Safari does run in the background but it does not really do anything) - Mobilecast - Last.fm - Facebook (If someone sends you a message on chat, the phone will vibrate but the indicator on the Facebook app does not indicate it. The indicator is also does not indicate when you have a new facebook email.) - Pandora Radio Comment by leoncowle, Today (3 hours ago) Wow, mate. Works perfectly. Installed it. Restarted SB. Launched last.fm app and held Home until I saw the pop-up, released home, and last.fm disappeared into the background, music still playing! I then proceeded to use sms, mail, etc, while music carried on playing. Launced last.fm again which returned me to the screen where I left off. How did we live without this??? Can I echo jasonjei's comments earlier and ask if there is a way to donate a little something to say thanks!? Comment by stevenbecht, Today (3 hours ago) For network dependent applications, I've found using insomnia will keep the connections active. Your device won't ever really sleep though, so the battery will drain a lot faster. In the past, I've used screen and an IRC client with insomnia. I could usually end up getting a good days worth out of the battery. I don't know about beejive though... I imagine the lifetime would be similar. Comment by stevenbecht, Today (2 hours ago) @saskwatch You should be able to use the "badge" application from the Erica Sadun utilities package to do this. Just create a script to read from your application list and compare against running process then badge them based on state. You could also check for running processes that match an application and badge those too, for the ones you don't have in any list. Kind of a hack, but should do what you're looking for. Comment by we...@ageek.net, Today (2 hours ago) Works great with Pandora! Thanks i've been wanting this forever! Comment by dvasj.2, Today (2 hours ago) So, how would one go about fixing the badge glitch with BeejiveIM? For me the badge updates properly when messages come in, the only problem is that now it's displaying a prominent 0 on the badge when I don't have any messages. I've force quit, uninstalled backgrounder, reset the phone, reinstalled and it's still displaying a badge with 0 on it! Comment by zeshank, Today (2 hours ago) dvasj.2 I am having the same issue with BeeJive? and the badge displaying the 0. I haven't tried this yet but I'm going to uninstall and reinstall BeeJive? to see if the badge issue is resolved. Not really a big deal, but I just don't want to see it constantly saying "0" Comment by dvasj.2, Today (118 minutes ago) I know! It's killing me too! I'd rather just disable the badge for that application.. is there a way to do this? I uninstalled BeeJive? and reinstalled and it still had a 0 badge next to it.. but then I opened it up.. it updated a few messages.. i checked them and exited and the badge went away.. but the second i installed backgrounder again the 0 badge came back. Comment by dvasj.2, Today (74 minutes ago) does anyone have a list of commands for erica's utilities? I've been googling for like an hour.. and have found no useful information.. Comment by JeffreyYanez, Today (59 minutes ago) What is the bundle identifier for AIM? Comment by lecaude, Today (26 minutes ago) @dvasj.2. Check ericasadun.com, bottom left of page click on Erica Utilities Comment by al.encabo, Today (28 minutes ago) so when i hold the home button after i launch the app it goes straight to the home screen. am i doing something wrong? and is anyone having this problem? Comment by stevenbecht, Today (25 minutes ago) You can disable the BeejiveIM badge with the "badge" application. The badge application didn't recognize the BeejiveIM name until I created a symbolic link from /var/mobile/Applications/ <uuid>/BeejiveIM.app to /Applications/. After that, I was able to simply type "badge BeejiveIM" and it removed the "0" badge from the icon.
