  issue 28 (instaUp2Date Syntax Error) Status changed by kuehn.karl   -   I missed that this was 2.6/3 syntax, and does not work with 2.5. Changing this to the 2.5 syntax works fine in both 10.5 and 10.6. wgmeyer: don't make yourself the owner of problems you are not going to fix. And you should probably leave status alone as well.

  issue 29 (Cache image after some packages have been installed) changed by kuehn.karl   -   This creates a number of issues with the base-image now not being predictable. So if you replaced the combo updater it would still be in the cached base image, and no checksumming is being done in the patch to solve that. I have some ideas to accomplish similar goals in 2.0, where InstaUp2Date will move into InstaDMG and provide an opportunity to catch and handle these issues. In the mean time I can't put this in.

Specifically, I'd like to apply 10.5.8 before the base os is cached, as it takes up half of the build time by itself. When experimenting with a bunch of CustomPKGs, it'd be useful to apply all system updates before caching, and so on.

The AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg portion of the new iTunes installer does not complete the postinstall script which installs the "_usbmuxd" user. What would be good is a way to have packages organised in a heirachical folder structure, and use InstaUp2Date and catalog files to build everything on a client by client basis. Example: Packages/Mac OS X/MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.7.dmg Packages/Mac OS X/iTunes8.2.dmg Packages/Mac OS X/QuickTime762Leopard.dmg Packages/Software/Adobe/Flash Player.mpkg Packages/Software/Microsoft/Office 2008.pkg Packages/Client1Name/Custom Dock Settings.pkg Packages/Client2Name/Different Custom Dock Settings.pkg Packages/Client3Name/Font Collection.pkg Etc...
