Data for the seismic sequence timeline are originally from the ISIDe database (http://iside.rm.ingv.it), developed by the National Center for Earthquake at INGV Rome. The focal mechanism of the main shocks are from the RCMT database (http://www.bo.ingv.it/RCMT/searchRCMT.html), INGV Bologna.

Further layers from other research groups are being progressively developed:

• Shakemap
• macroseismic survey includes 360-degree panoramics samples
• coseismic migrations measured by gps stations
• historic seismicity DBMI08 database
• Seismic Faults DISS 3.04 database

The earthquake events dataset are time-stamped and positioned at altitudes proportional to the (inverted) depth of occurrence. Seismic events with magnitude above 4.0 are displayed with the moment tensor graphical representation of the focal mechanism (beachballs). The icons for these events are currently the standard 2D bottom-half projections found in printed papers; these will be replaced with full 3d-spherical representations.

IMPORTANT: you need to separate the two cursors in the time-slider in order to set a non-zero time-window; otherwise no placemark will be shown. Then you will be able to step back an forth in time while also changing and tilting the view-point.

All content layers are displayed/hidden by selecting their relative checkboxes in the 'Places' side column.

IN ITALIANO: per vedere la sequenza temporale è necessario separare i 2 cursori della barra temporale (in alto a sinistra nel visualizzatore 3d di Google Earth), in modo da definire una intervallo temporale diverso da zero, con cui andare ad esplorare l'intero set di dati.

Tutti i contenuti sono attivabili/disattivabili selezionando i relativi checkbox nella lista testuale della colonna laterale (sinistra).
