Beta14KnownIssues
This page is for reporting issues with iNdependence 1.4 beta

Details

The issue tracker has become too clogged with bugs and I don't have time to deal with it. So could everyone report issues with iNdependence 1.4 beta on this page instead.

Current Known Issues

In an upcoming version of iNdependence I hope to have a version of gunlock which autodetects the bootloader version and chooses the best SIM unlock method possible.
WORKAROUND: Manually download the 1.1.2 firmware file from
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-4037.20071107.5Bghn/iPhone1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw
and copy it to HOME/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/ (where HOME is your user folder in Finder)
Obviously, Apple's servers may have some downtime/technical issues now and then, so if it doesn't work for you, just wait a bit and try again later.
WORKAROUND: Try SIM unlocking again as gunlock usually succeeds on the 2nd attempt.
WORKAROUND: Force quit and restart iNdependence, then try again.
WORKAROUND: Jailbreak again with iNdependence
WORKAROUND: See below for instructions on how to install Installer.app

Getting Installer.app onto Your Phone

(From john.angus - slightly modified by me)

How I got installer.app working:

  1. Get the latest version from here: http://repository.apptapp.com/packages/System/Installer.zip
  2. Install the Installer.app file using iNdependence
  3. SSH into your phone and issue the following commands:
    • chmod 777 /Applications
    • chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app
    • chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

Problems With 3rd Party Applications on 1.1.3

john.angus reported that many 3rd party applications don't work all that well on 1.1.3 because they are run as user "mobile" instead of user "root". Meaning, they won't have permission to write files to certain locations on the phone, and do other things which "root" can do. This is not a problem with iNdependence, it's a bug in those 3rd party applications (assuming they are being run as root). You'll have to wait until the developers update their applications.

Downloading the firmware file is taking forever!

Yes, I realize that this can be slow. I'd really love to just bundle it all up with iNdependence so that you don't have to download it. Unfortunately, I don't want to risk having Apple's legal team shut this project down because it's distributing things covered under their licensing agreement. So that's why you have to download the firmware file.

Be patient... you'll only need to download it once. :)

Comment by jrbtempe, Feb 13, 2008

No problems on an MacBook? Pro except I'm still getting a YouTube? error, same as when I ran ZiPhone?. I have a previously iPhoneSimFree-unlocked phone and I'm wondering if somehow it became locked again since it no longer shows a carrier when I switch from AT&T to a Ukraine UMC card. Not totally related to iNdependence 1.4, but I didn't want to be a guinea pig and unlock it again with the stern warning I was given... ;-)

Comment by madhurdutta, Feb 13, 2008

When I try to install, installer it says main script execution error

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

everything went smoothly on jailbreak and activation for 1.1.3 on my macbook, except when ever i try to make a call, it always fails. anyone else get this?

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

oh, i should also mention I'm using my old cingular chip, not the original att one that came with it. I never had to unlock the phone before to use the cingular chip, do i have to now?

Comment by math609, Feb 13, 2008

you have to unlock the phone...... damn!

Comment by fruiteatingbear, Feb 13, 2008

Have been running IPSF unlocked, independence jailbroken and activated on 1.1.2 (week 25 iphone) with vodafone UK sim in UK. Ran update with itunes and then independence 1.4 beta . Now activated and jailbroken, but not seeing network. Possibly this is the same issue that jrbtempe and tamtamg are experiencing. Do we need to install a Lockdownd or something? Cheers..

Comment by fruiteatingbear, Feb 13, 2008

And despite the warning about IPSF unlocked phones, thought I would give the SIM unlock a try. It worked. Sees the Vodafone UK network and makes & receives calls fine. Thank you. PS: You can have my donation tomorrow, meanwhile I'm off to bed!!

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

iNdependence fails to recognize as jailbroken my 1.1.3 jailbroken iPhone (wich I Jailbreked activated and unlock using Ziphone) any one having this problem???. Also when I restore my iPhone back and activate it using itunes (im an AT&T costumer) then went to iNdependence an tried to jailbreak and unlock both ff them succeded BUT seconds later got an error saying iphone needs repair... which made me shit my pants...

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

PS: Intel iMac White Core2 Duo Leopard 10.5.2

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

@carlz0736: ZiPhone?'s jailbreak doesn't set up the afc2 service (I noticed this when I looked through his ramdisk). Which means, it isn't truly jailbroken since you can only write files to the Media partition with the regular afc service.

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

@tamtamg: Yes, you will need to SIM unlock again. The 1.1.3 upgrade flashes the baseband, meaning it'll wipe out any previous SIM unlocks. Also, TurboSIM doesn't work with 1.1.3. Apple closed up a lot of the old loopholes with the 1.1.3 update.

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

So, Any one with IPSF should reunlock through sim unlock? jrbtempe, tamtamg and fruiteatingbear, can you update me please? I am running 1.1.2 iphone with IPSF, can I update? How to handle this?

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

opera...@dialectro.com, can you guide us (People who unlocked their phones with IPSF, running 1.1.2) through the upgrade? Independence work fine, but I would like to know, is it safe to use it with IPSF?

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

PS: Independence works fine for me (OSX 10.5.2, intel).

Comment by ruddyss4, Feb 13, 2008

for all those with IPSF unlocked phones, you can restore and update your phone regularly via itunes, then jailbreak and activate via independence. once that is done, just install signal.app (no need for installer, it comes as a standalone app), what this does is enables your IPSF unlock so that it is functional. so no need to re-unlock your phone. the catch with this is, you need to run this app every time you power off and power on your phone, as it leaves no permanent changes on your phone. this isn't too bad because i honestly dont remember the last time i rebooted my phone, and it feels good to know signal.app doesnt do any permanent changes to your phone. reminder! this is for IPSF'd < 1.1.3 and 3.9 BL.

here's the link: http://www.trick77.com/downloads/

Comment by ruddyss4, Feb 13, 2008

@nounousomes so you had an IPSF < 1.1.3 unlocked phone, did you have network after the upgrade/jailbreak/activation without any extra effort? it seems 1.1.2 is the last known resistant upgrade for IPSF.

Comment by celso.martinho, Feb 13, 2008

Brand fresh new 1.1.3 phone. Used 1.4 beta2.

Activation and jailbreak worked fine. Wifi works at this stage.

Unlock seemed to work (from the verbose boot logs) but in fact it didn't and it killed my Wifi (it's greyed) and Bluetooth. General->About shows no IMEI, Wifi address or BT address.

If I restore the phone to 1.1.3 and activate again, I'll have Wifi again.

What could be wrong ?

Comment by passingwind.info, Feb 13, 2008

How are yall installing installer? I am getting main script execution error Regards, Madhur

Comment by lutherjw, Feb 13, 2008

Regarding the bug where it 'hangs', should it hang after it finishes creating the RAM disk? Mine seems to be hanging before it's finished. If not, about how long should that step take?

Comment by rrjames, Feb 13, 2008

Jailbreaks great. Installs SSH. Had to activate a few times before it finally took off. Strange, but I'm finally on 1.1.3, unlocked, activated and happy as a clam. Nice work.

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

Till now I did not upgrade to 1.1.3. Currently, I am on 1.1.2 unlocked by IPSF. Is this version of independence is sufficient to upgrade, jailbreak my phone? Do I need to reunlock my phone with it?

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

@TamTamg?, you tried the sim unlocking? did it work?

Comment by lutherjw, Feb 13, 2008

Okay, I need major help. My iPhone is now stuck looping "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" over and over. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

@lutherjw

Put your iPhone in DFU mode, and restore, for now i suggest not trying anything until a stable version

Comment by jquach, Feb 13, 2008

Same here. Started with a fresh restore of 1.1.3 and now "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" over and over upon trying to jailbreak. Restarting iPhone just brings me back to the same error message. OS 10.5.2, Intel.

Comment by dariourquijo, Feb 13, 2008

Everything works fine except for the Google Maps current location feature. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Comment by lutherjw, Feb 13, 2008

I feel extremely dumb .... the iPhone won't go into DFU mode. Once again, I desperately need help. :D

Comment by paulgraycollier, Feb 13, 2008

Is it confirmed then that iPhoneSimFree unlocked phones do not survive the 1.1.3 upgrade and must use the whole patched signal.app thing every time the phone turns off and on? Gutted if thats true....

Comment by brian.price, Feb 13, 2008

My iPhone had the following error appear: BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

Repeated over and over again. What I had to do was turn off the phone (press and hold power & home). The I had to to enter DFU mode (press and hold power & home until Apple appears, this can take a while. Then release power and keep holding home. If you release home, turn it off and do it over). Open up iTunes, and click "Check" when the dialog box appears, then "Restore" then "Restore and Upgrade".

I'm now updating the phone with ZiPhone? 2. I'll let you know what happens.

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

I hope that some one could help us in the IphoneSimFree? patched phones, does the new version of independence (jailbreaking and unlocking) will work so as to avoid the signal.app problem?

Comment by iarbitman, Feb 13, 2008

Maybe a dumb question but...

Currently have 1.1.2 firmware, jailbroken, unocked, ssh enabled, 7.6 itunes, 04.02.13_G baseband, iPhone upgraded and manipulated only by itunes and iNdependence/anySim. Want to upgrade to 1.1.3 but I don't see the option for a Pre Firmware Upgarde in iNdependnce 1.4b. Can the firmware be upgraded to 1.1.3 via itunes and then re-simunlocked via Independence 1.4b?

BTW - tried a return to jail with 1.4b which failed with "Error entering recovery mode."

Comment by brian.price, Feb 13, 2008

To unlock, get ZiPhone? 2.0. Go to ZiPhone? folder in terminal (Mac OS X instructions):

./ziphone -v -a wait until this completes ./ziphone -v -j Wait until this completes ./ziphone -v -u Wait until this completes.

The iPhone is now unlocked and jailbroken.

Cheers,

Comment by brian.price, Feb 13, 2008

I believe (what I did) was just go to iTunes and hit "Upgrade". It will update your iPhone. Now run iNdependence. If you get the error: "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0", then follow my previous instructions.

Cheers,

Comment by carlo.hoayek, Feb 13, 2008

"BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" over and over upon trying to jailbreak

Comment by brian.price, Feb 13, 2008

I know I saw that. Could be the same reason that it gets stuck in that loop. iNdependence doesn't recognize that a ZiPhone2? jailbroken phone is actually jailbroken.

No matter though, it still works. Installer is installed on your iPhone, so you can use the installer app to get the BSD Subsystem and SSH if you want it. I just found this out now.

Looks like there is still a few bugs in iNdependence. I'm wondering what we did different, as I have a friend who did it and it ran fine without a hitch (just the need to restart the app).

Cheers,

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

@ lutherjw simultaneously press power and home until the screen turns of after 3 second let go of the power button until iTunes says it detect and iPhone in recovery mode all of this must be whit the iPhone connected to the computer.

Comment by lutherjw, Feb 13, 2008

Thanks carlz0736. I had tried that a few times without it working, but it finally did. I proceeded to activate with ZiPhone? and it worked fine ... very strange.

Comment by AWK1015, Feb 13, 2008

THE SIM UNLOCK METHOD ON THE GUI IS ONLY FOR O.T.B. 1.1.2 AND UP!!!

MY SUGGESTION IS TO MAKE YOUR PROGRAM CHECK FOR THE BL VERSION, THEN DECIDE WHICH UNLOCKING METHOD IS GOOD.

I USED GEOHOT'S IPSF LIKE METHOD AND IT'S GREAT!! http://mytrini-iphone.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-to-unlock-113-with-39bl.html

IT DOESN'T NEED SSH I BELIEVE

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

lutherjw: I had that happen to me once (the stuck in ramdisk mode). But only when I was first creating the ramdisk. The way I got out was to do the manual DFU mode (press and hold both power + home for 10 seconds, then release power and continue holding home for 10 seconds). After that, just use iTunes to restore.

Anyways, I haven't had this happen to me with the latest ramdisk in iNdependence -- and I've jailbroken/SIM unlocked about 50 times with it.

Comment by carlos.lacourt, Feb 13, 2008

Does anyone know if this version (ziphone/iNdependence) breaks Nikita?

Comment by dirtyblueshirt, Feb 13, 2008

Hey, does anybody have the link to d/l the 1.1.2 firmware? thanks.

Comment by therobster11, Feb 13, 2008

I tried using the Activate button and I kept getting the same error other people are getting. (BSD Root:....)

Then, I thought I'd try using the Jailbreak button instead, thinking it might work instead. Well, I didn't get the same error, instead I got this:

Singleuser boot -- fsck not done Root device is mounted read-only

If you want to make modifications to files:

/sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw /

If you wish to boot the system:

exit

Feb 14 04:02:14 launchd10?: can't exec /bin/sh for single user: No such file or directory.

Ya, that's the error. Any help there? lol

Comment by dirtyblueshirt, Feb 13, 2008

@ therobster11: I get that same problem, my phone was unloked with IPSF, have you taken that route as well?

Comment by therobster11, Feb 13, 2008

The only unlocks I've done are the ones on previous Independence versions. I've had this phone since 1.0.1.

Comment by dirtyblueshirt, Feb 13, 2008

Okay, so it's not IPSF causing that problem, and I've had my phone since 1.0.2. Does it matter if I have my T-Mobile SIM in the phone at the time? I don't think so, but I just want to cover all bases

Comment by paulgraycollier, Feb 13, 2008

After many many searches, I have come across some posts suggesting that IPSF unlocks should survive the upgrade, however this may be the "soft upgrade" Can anyone confirm that IPSF users are indeed screwed when updating via itunes proper? Anyone?

Comment by dirtyblueshirt, Feb 13, 2008

For the record, I've been unable to downgrade to 1.1.2 (iTunes errors: The iPhone "iPhone Cannot be restored because of an unknown error (1)".

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

any one know how long the sim unlock should take? its been about 10 minutes and independence is still at the "Waiting for SIM unlock" stage. Any suggestions?

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

@ dirtyblueshirt, after you downgrade to 1.1.2 and get the error message, try quiting itunes and relaunch independence. It should take care of it.

Comment by dirtyblueshirt, Feb 13, 2008

@tamtamg: the error occurs after iTunes extracts the firmware, but before it installs it on the iPhone, iNdependence doesn't help any there. :(

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

Regarding IPSF, fruiteatingbear has an unlocked IPSF, he upgraded using itunes, jailbreaking with independence, everything went fine with him except there was no Signal, so he used the sim unlocking in independence 1.4 beta and it worked. I hope any else with IPSF unlocked phone could confirm this.

Comment by rockmixer, Feb 13, 2008

@tamtamg

Please let me know if sim unlocking allows you to use your old Cingular sim. I think I am in the same boat as you.

With older versions of the iPhone (up to 1.1.2), I was able to simply "activate" with independence and my old Cingular sim would just work.

Good luck and thanks for reading.

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

@dirtyblueshirt: Youre doing the DFU Mode Wrong simultaneously press power and home until the screen turns of after 3 second let go of the power button until iTunes says it detect and iPhone in recovery mode all of this must be whit the iPhone connected to the computer.

@tamtamg close iNdependence try again this tends to happen, if not restore the iphone using the methods above and try everything all over again.

Remember people this is intended to be used on any iPhone 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB but they must be on firmware 1.1.3 when unlocking whit iNdependence and it would be better if the phone is completely clean as in recently restored thats how it work for me.

Comment by Jake.Miner, Feb 13, 2008

Same for me BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 iphone 1.0.0 OTB -> jailbreak ->1.1.1 jailbreak -> 1.1.3 trying to jailbreak :)

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

I hope any one will help with the IPSF unlocked 3.9 BL phones?

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

AWK1015: I actually emailed Geohot about gunlock (what I use for SIM unlock) and he said that it works for both BL3.9 and 4.6. I actually tested it on both bootloaders myself and it works fine.

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

@Jake.Miner this app(iNdependence) is not intended for 1.0.0 OTB you should try other methods try here http://iphone.unlock.no/

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

PS: @Jake.Mine when i said this app i reffered to 1.4.2

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

ok everybody, here's a recap of my experience of the beta. First off, I did a restore and update option on my iphone to 1.1.3. then I quit out of itunes and killed the itunes helper. Launced 1.4 beta, did jailbreak first, screen goes black and a bunch of code strats scolling down the screen. Phone reboots and phone is jailbroken. From there I went through the activation process, everything goes fine except can't make phone calls because I'm using a cingular sim. Next I figure I give the sim unlock a shot to see if it helps. First attempt at unlock, nothing happens and independence hangs on waiting for sim unlock screen. I force quit out of independence and try it once more. Viola, screen goes black and code starts running. After sim unlock everything works, and I'm a happy man. Next on the list is to figure out how to get installer.app back on it again (any suggestions?). Good luck everyone!

Comment by nounousomes, Feb 13, 2008

Tamtamg, you were using IPSF before this?

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

tamtamg: Yes, you have found the zen of working with iNdependence. :) There is the occasional hang, but if you learn to recognize quickly when it's happening, it's pretty easy to work around it. Glad everything worked out for you. I wish I could fix the hang, but I need documentation from the Apple developers about why it happens and how to work around it.

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

nope, never had to unlock for cingular until now. but fruiteatingbear said earlier

"And despite the warning about IPSF unlocked phones, thought I would give the SIM unlock a try. It worked. Sees the Vodafone UK network and makes & receives calls fine....."

so you can take him at his word, give it a try and report back to everyone.

Comment by rockmixer, Feb 13, 2008

@tamtamg

Thanks so much for the recap. I did the sim unlock and everything is working great.

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

Jake.Miner, carlz0736: iNdependence works fine for me with my 1.0.0 OTB phone. I'm not sure why a couple of people are getting this ramdisk hanging problem... I haven't been able to reproduce it yet and I've booted from the ramdisk about 50 times on 3 different phones (two 1.0.0 OTB, and one 1.1.2 OTB).

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

@opera..., dude its seriously a minor flaw which is not you fault, I wouldn't worry about it. But anyways, great work man, expect a donation from me soon. But if I may offer a suggestion, how about auto installing installer.app during the jailbreaking process. I think a lot of users would greatly appreciate that.

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

opera...@dialectro.com: funny i only got a ramdisk hang once on my OTB 1.1.2 but and i just got a call from my fiend and he said thats must be a problem generated by OS X itself and not the app, we are still looking at the logs at the console and process to see where exactly it freezes that is if we manege to recreate the the hang, I will report back on my findings as soon as a i can

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

tamtamg: Yeah, I could make it an option. The big problem I have is that then I have to keep updating the version of Installer.app I use each time they update it. Otherwise people will get mad because I'm installing an outdated version.

I really wish they'd make Installer available as a standalone app so that people can install it however they like. Rather than having to jailbreak via a website to get it (or some other nonsense).

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 13, 2008

carlz0736: Yes, the hang is from the OS. However, I created the RAM disk which the OS is running off of, so the problem is somewhere in the RAM disk. If only I could reproduce it...

Comment by carlz0736, Feb 13, 2008

opera...@dialectro.com: well I think I found a way I ejected the previously mounted ramdisk using the disk utility and when I ran iNdependence again i repeated the hang, I think it has to do whit the way os x handles the mounting and un-mounting of the image try that I see if it you can reproduced it.

Comment by tamtamg, Feb 13, 2008

any one else having issues with the ssh that comes with the beta? It installs alright but i can't connect to the iphone. any one else having this issue?

Comment by proprietor, Feb 13, 2008

So just to make sure I have the process straight: I have a jailbroken 1.1.2, never used or activated as a mobile phone, 1.0.2 OTB. To get a jailbroken 1.1.3, I upgrade in iTunes to 1.1.3, then launch iNdependence, activate/jailbreak, and I'm good to go?

To echo an earlier but unanswered question, how would I get Installer back on my newly jailbroken 1.1.3?

Comment by pbandyk, Feb 13, 2008

Hey Op! Again, great work on putting together a complete package that's easy to use! My only concern is that I can't seem to get the current release of installer.app on the phone. I was able to dig up an older version and put in on my iphone over SSH. However, I can't "update" to the most recent version within installer itself, as I had hoped. I get a script execution error message. Any ideas as to why this might be happening? Or, does someone have the most current installer.app we could try?

Comment by fruiteatingbear, Feb 14, 2008

PS: IPSF using Independence Sim Unlock to get signal, didnt need to run Signal app -

Comment by dashaus, Feb 14, 2008

tried to upgrade from otb 1.1.1 independence-jailbreaked-upgraded to 1.1.2 phone, to 1.1.3. it keeps returning a "error no 6".

and now help cause i'm stuck. the only firmware that itunes allows me to restore (meaning i don't get an error) is 1.1.2. which i cant activate! i'm entering dfu, downgrading to 1.0.2 and then when i'm trying to activate 1.0.2 i get a "error writing services.plist"!

Comment by jonmango, Feb 14, 2008

why won't iNdependence get my iPhone 1.1.2 OOTB, jail broken, then upgraded/restored several times to 1.1.3 using MBP ver 1 OSX 10.4.11 iTunes 7.6 out of recovery mode? Everytime the iPHone is in recovery mode, iNdependence will quit. RAM disk will create (up to 17.9 MB), then iNdependence gets killed when the iPhone goes to recovery. Also, I tried iJailbreak first and noticed this error when it put the iPhone into recovery. iJailbreak doesn't work for me either - I get an error with every version of theirs I've tried. I've always been able to use iNdependence to bring it back from iBrick status, just not with an updated baseband/firmware 1.1.3.

Comment by mike.maccana, Feb 14, 2008

Activation consistently fails.

  • Loaded firmware 1.1.3 in iTunes
  • Quit iTunes and killed iTunes helper
  • Opened iNdependence. Clicked Activate button
  • As already known, iNdependence crashes after making the image.
  • Opened iNdependence. Clicked Activate button
  • 'Waiting for jailbreak' appears.
  • iPhone reboots to restore mode, ie, cable and iTunes logo are displayed.
  • And sits there. Since help says 'Please be patient as it will take a while', I wait but am not sure how long things should take. Author: could the app please tell me how long this should take, as this would make troubleshooting much easier?
  • Anyway it sits at restore mode for half an hour, with no feedback from iNdependence or the iPhone. I gather this is too long.
  • If I quit iNdependence, rebooting the phone now reboots it back into restore mode.
Comment by jordansoles, Feb 14, 2008

Just upgraded to 1.1.3, used independence to activate/jailbreak/unlock my iphone successfully, but google maps 'locate me' not working...is this a known issue?

Comment by sarb.johal, Feb 14, 2008

"Some people are reporting that when they do a jail break or SIM unlock, the phone boots to text mode, but then hangs and displays the same message over and over again (BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0). This is currently being investigated (I'm unable to reproduce it). To get out of this mode, you need to manually put your phone in DFU mode (using the Power + Home buttons), then use iTunes to restore your firmware."

I'm getting this continually.

Comment by rperci...@scarynet.net, Feb 14, 2008

Worked great on my phone. I bought it at the first of Dec with 1.1.2 firmware. Jailbroke it then with the downgrade, exploit, upgrade method. Had to restore and go to 1.1.3 a couple of weeks ago to get support. This jailbreak worked great and got me back my custom SMS ringtone. I can't overstate how much that means to me. You rule, man. I haven't tried to install any apps yet.

I would like a rational install option for installer.app. But we, the users, need to be asking them to do updated standalone releases to make it possible for you to do that. The fact that the only supported way to get it is via an exploit that's been patched for months is a crime.

Thanks very much for this.

Comment by chris.a49, Feb 14, 2008

Just applied SIM unlock on top of IPSF on a 1.1.3, upgraded from 1.1.2, works fine. Thanks

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 14, 2008

For people having the RAM disk lockup problem, I've given some instructions for creating the RAM disk by hand. If you feel comfortable with the command-line, can you try it out and let me know where the script is failing. Thanks.

@jordansoles The 1.1.3 upgrade is patching the 4.02.13_G baseband and flashes it to the phone. So google maps wont work without some help (solutions to this discussed on Hackint0sh)

Great work! Thank you. Jailbreak and Sim unlock hung for a long time. Force-quitting and restarting independence solved the issue. Locate me and itoner don't work, and of course still no way to get the most recent Installer.app

How I got installer.app working:

1. Get the latest version from here: http://repository.apptapp.com/packages/System/Installer.zip

2. Install it using independence (naturally.)

3. SSH into your phone and issue the following commands:

chmod 777 /Applications
chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app
chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

It's entirely possible that one or more of these lines may be left out, I didn't try between, but read somewhere that the "Main Script Execution Failed" problem was related to permissions, and those commands seem to have fixed it for me.

YMMV :-)

Comment by macnerd1984, Feb 14, 2008

Apologies if this seems like a stupid comment.... I have used Independence twice to upgrade (last one to 1.1.2) successfully and used AnySim? (via Independence) to use my own SIM card. I'd like to get to 1.1.3 and it appears that this is now possible with the latest beta of Independence. My questions is, does the AnySim? app which Indy has "bundled" (for wont of a better word) inside it allow this? Right now I'm Jailbroken, Activated and am happily using my own SIM on 1.1.2 and as much as I would like the extras available in 1.1.3, I don't want to end up bricking the damn thing and having to go back and re-do everything if I can avoid it.

Additionally, what's the process for getting Installer.app on the iPhone now? I guess the more sensible question would actually be - Has anyone got Installer working on a jailbroken and unlocked 1.1.3 iPhone and if so, what version did you use, since it doesn't show that it is available for this firmware yet?

Cheers

Macnerd

Comment by john.angus, Feb 14, 2008

@Macnerd:

See my post above yours... I've got installer installed and working on my 1.1.3, although it appears that some of the packages in installer need to be updated with proper permissions... I'm finding that some things I install don't work properly, presumably because some of the file permissions aren't right, but most things do (summerboard, terminal, books, etc.)

As far as updating your phone, the latest independence is pretty versatile... You won't require AnySim?, independence now has unlock software built-in. You can unlock through the independence interface without adding unlocking programs to your iphone.

Installation, as op says, is as easy as updating your phone to 1.1.3 in iTunes, quitting iTunes, starting independence, and activating/sim unlocking from there. The longest part of the process for me was downloading the 1.1.3 update.

Mind you, there have been a few people with reported problems, so, something isn't 100%, but it appears to be working for most people.

Comment by felixx, Feb 14, 2008

john.angus method (above) for getting installer.app onto 1.1.3 works flawlessly. cheers!

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 14, 2008

mike.maccana. rven...@yahoo.ca: That error is normal (and is not what's causing the problem). It's simply cleaning up some files at that point (so it doesn't matter if it fails). From that log, it would appear that the RAM disk creation script worked just fine. So you shouldn't get the "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" error when you jailbreak or SIM unlock.

Comment by john.angus, Feb 14, 2008

A note on using installer with 1.1.3, I've been reading all over the place that there are problems with numerous packages (I've run into a few myself already.)

They're most related to where the package gets installed... Since the iphone now runs applications as user mobile, and not root, if the package or any save data it generates are written to some place that the mobile user can't access, it won't work. So, expect most of your previous programs to not work until their respective developers update the packages for 1.1.3 (or you could SSH into your phone and muck around with permissions on your own, but I can't guess at what problems you might get into.)

Comment by rven...@yahoo.ca, Feb 14, 2008

Hi operator, thanks! Works fine now. My symptoms were indeed not the "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" error, but rather that (after successful jailbreak) and attempted SIM unlock, it would hang with "Waiting for SIM Unlock", without anything happening on the phone (just "slide to unlock").

I've then installed SSH, and confirmed that the phone was connected to wireless, but could not ssh in, because remote host identification had changed, so I deleted the other RSA key in .ssh/hosts.

After restarting iNdependence then, SIM Unlock succeeded. Thanks again, good luck with that remaining bug.

hi there, i have just tried to upgrade my 1.1.2 anySIM unlocked phone to 1.1.3. everything proceeded well. however, i found that i can use google map locate before using SIM unlock in iNdependence, but it fails after unlocking. i found that, the baseband of my iPhone is downgraded to 04.02.13G instead of the expected 04.03.13G. is there something i made wrong?

also i have get the installer.app put in my home screen. it can be executed. however, my iPhone haven't installed BSD Subsystem. When i tried to install it, "Main script error" occurred after trying to install. i can't find any help about this case on the web. can you give me a hand as well on this issue?

Thankyou very much, iNdependence really makes the process of unlocking, activation, jailbreak easy. looking forward for your reply. Thanks again!

First, I upgraded to 1.1.3 with iTunes and used iNdependence to Activate/Jailbreak/Unlock but Google Maps 'locate me' didn't work...

Then I restored 1.1.3 with iTunes, used iNdependence to Activate/Jailbreak and ZiPhone? 2.0 to Unlock. The result is a fully working - 'locate me' works! - clean - ZiPhone? didn't install Installer.app - iPhone with 1.1.3, 3.9 BL and 4.03.13_G baseband.

I'm having some SSH issues. Everytime I try to connect to my phone via independence, I get this error:

Fail Couldn't connect to SSH server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is connected to a network, and SSH is installed correctly.

When i try the using fugu, I get a connection refused error.

I know i'm using the right ip address of my phone. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SSH to no avail. Any suggestions? Is there some weird firewall issue with my router or something? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Comment by felixx, Feb 14, 2008

Could be a network issue. make sure your mac and your iphone are on the same wifi network. disconnect your mac's ethernet cable to make sure. that's what did it for me.

I got the "locate me" feature to work on my phone.

I did the jailbreak, activate, and sim unlock with independence. I now have 1.1.3 / 04.02.13_G

I put installer on the phone and tried to download LocateMe?. It gave me an error after trying to download it and it was not showing up on the phone.

I connected to the phone with Cyberduck and found locateme-0.5.zip in /private/var/mobile/Library/Installer/Temp/. I copied it to the desktop, unzipped the app and uploaded it to the applications folder. I then set the permissions to 777, quit cyberduck, rebooted the phone and ran LocateMe?.

I ran LocateMe? just once and now the locate me function works every time in the Maps app on its own.

If you reboot the phone, you will need to run LocateMe? once again before it will work in Maps.

I hope this helps anyone out there.

Operator: I should also add that per my earlier post, my prob isn't the text mode rebooting, but that when Jailbreaking, the iPhone goes into recovery mode (with the connect to iTunes logo) and stays there forever.

So far I've just been waiting for a half hour or so, then using iTunes to restore. But if I launch iNdependence while iPhone is in recovery mode, it crashes:

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 14, 2008

@mike.maccana: That error in the decryption step is also normal. It's because of some extra header junk in the file. However, the decryption still works properly.

Comment by turimblar, Feb 14, 2008

can please more people with IPSF-unlocked phones report if they got the Sim Unlock right, and there is no need to use Signal.app? even after reboots?

Comment by dial.operator, Feb 14, 2008

@iphoneguidedk: ok, that is a genuine error in the RAM disk creation script. It seems like ditto is failing to decompress the 1.1.2 firmware file.

Can you use Finder to go into /Users/enandenvejny/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/, make a copy of iPhone1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.ipsw, rename it to iPhone1,1_1.1.2_3B48b_Restore.zip, then right-click that file and select "Open With" -> "Archive Utility" (or possibly "BOMArchiveHelper"). Then see what happens. If there is an error, then you likely have a corrupt copy of the the 1.1.2 firmware file and will need to download it again.

@ jsincla: so AnySim? 1.3 is actually installed when you push the SIM Unlock Phone, into the phone and "takes over" what IPSF did before?

i was actually hoping that IPSF would be a part of the unlock itself...

Mr. Operator/iNdependence; can you confirm or explain? :-)

Currently my iphone is on firmware 1.1.3(4A93) with modem firmware 04.03.13_G and from what I could research it has bootloader 4.6.

I'm having the same issue as mike.maccana, if my iPhone is in recovery mode, iNdependence will crash! This happens with iNdependence 1.3 as well.

history for my iPhone: I use AT&T as my carrier so I've never tried a SIM unlock.

I used iNdependence 1.3 to jailbreak/activate my OTB 1.1.2 iPhone back in December.

I applied the "soft update" to 1.1.3 and since the Google goodness didn't work (also resetting the phone would put it into recovery mode which i couuld use iNdependence to recover the iPhone), I went back to J/B 1.1.2, never updating my modem baseband to the one included with 1.1.3.

Yesterday, excited to get true 1.1.3 J/B, I used iTunes to update my iPhone to 1.1.3, downloaded iJailbreak 0.5.3 and that didn't work since it's Leopard only, but at some point it put my phone in DFU mode.

So then i tried iNdependence 1.3 to recover, but iNdependence crashed. Ok, so I try iNdependence 1.4 but If my iPhone is in recovery mode and connected to the computer, iNdependence will not start at all. if iNdependence is running and i hook the recovery mode iPhone to the computer - crash. Does the iPhone not have to enter DFU mode to be J/B in this newest release?

FWIW, my RAM disk only takes a few seconds to create and it's always shown as 17.9 MB in disk utility. Also, can i get my phone working again on 1.1.2 since I've now updated to the newest baseband?

i'm using a Macbook Pro ver 1 on 10.4.11 with all updates to the system and iTunes (7.6).

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

It worked great for me. 1.1.2 IPSF ( original 1.0.1 upgraded and activated using iNdependence at each update) This is my story of upgrading to 1.1.3

  • Deleted all my thirdparty apps.
  • Did the 'Upgrade' from itunes 7.6 10.5.2 mac book pro
  • Shutdown itunes, force stop itunes helper.
  • Start iNdependence, click activate.
  • it did the ram disk, then showed the waiting for jail break. force quit iNdependence.
  • Start iNdependence, click activate
  • Jailbreak goes through smooth, then activation.
  • Click on unlock. nothing happens.
  • force quite iNdependence.
  • Start iNdependence, click unlock.
  • unlock does its thing, and works. I get signal from Rogers.
  • I get a SMS, I call voice mail, it all works. I play with the jiggly icons :)
  • exit iNdependence.
  • Start itunes, everything good.
  • Start iNdependence, install ssh, change password, install install.app ssh in and do the chmods.
  • install iSolitaire and iPhysics, both seem to work.
Another iPhone update/activate/unlock done super easy because of the great program iNdependence. Thanks.

FIX for BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

I found that my 1.1.2 image was corrupt, but the ramdisk creation script had no way of knowing. I deleted the directory /users/youruser/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Update/iphone,1_1..1.2_3848b_Restore.ipsw. Next time independence is run it will download the 1.1.2 image and should create the ramdisk correctly. Note that it can take awhile to download, be patient or use command line listed at the top of this forum to watch the progress.

Not sure if this was required also:

I also went into /Volumes and unmounted any ramdisk volumes, and those the couldn't unmount I deleted.

Hope this helps...

My iphone was unlocked before with IPSF.

Upgraded through itunes with no problems (Upgrade option).

Activated the iphone with independence 1.4 Beta 2.

Then everything is fine but no signal.

Unlocked with ZiPhone? 2.0 (Not Ziphone 2.1) No everything is working and fine (Youtube, Locate me, signal, SMS,...)

Installed Installer with independence.

Tweaked permissions with Terminal as follows:

ssh root@YOUR IP OF IPHONE

put you password (Should be dottie).

cd /Applications chmod +s Installer.app/Installer chown -R root:wheel Installer.app

chmod 4755 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

Then installer is working fine now.

Thank you all

(PS: All of this is using Mac OSX 10.5.2, iMac, Intel and Operator Method for tweaking Installer did not work for me).

Thank you all

and thank you operator so much for your help and this nice tool

Simplicity is bliss... Restored 1.1.1 to 1.1.3, Jailbroke and activated with Independence, not a single issue. Now what is the simple method for adding Appinstaller. Please keep in mind I need instructions for an idiot. Thanks to all for the incredible job on Independence.

My Experience..

OTB 1.0.2 >> Unlocked with AnySIM >> Fixed with revirignized and upgraded to 1.1.2 and unlocked again

---

Updated to 1.1.3 in iTunes - updated ok, and relocked phone, but strangely it was still activated and I could use it, but it had been sim locked.

Independence thought it still needed activating, so activated with it. Failed first time worked second.

Tried SIM unlock with independence and failed first time worked second time.

Happy days - Thanks to all involved!!

Comment by mschulze, Feb 15, 2008

So the unlock in independence downgrades the baseband to 4.02, right? Does ziphone -u do that, too or will it keep 4.03?

I have a friends iPhone, BL 3.9 Phone, been updated to 1.1.3 via iTunes, locked. When using independance to try and Activate, it generates the RAM disk, then reboots, text scrolls up screen, then you get the single user boot mode, message;

=-=-=- Singleuser boot -- fsck not done Root device is mounted read-only If you want to make modifications to files: /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / If you wish to boot the system:

exit

Feb 14 23:59:04 launchd9?: can't exect /bin/sh for single user: No such file or directory =-=-=-=-

So put phone into dfu mode, and use iTunes to restore to 1.1.3, and then try again, same result.

Try to delete 1.1.2 restore file from /user...../iphone and then dfu back to 1.1.3, then run again, same result.

Any ideas?

Everything worked out fine... but iNdependence hangs on Jailbreak and Unlock.

Previous iPhone 8GB, 1.1.2, jailbroken, unlocked and ssh installed with iNdependence running iTunes 7.6

- Deleted all my thirdparty apps. - Chose 'Upgrade' from itunes 7.6 using iMac4,1 - Shutdown itunes, force stop itunes helper. - Start iNdependence, click activate, hangs post RAM disk, force quit iNdependence, restart retry and jailbreak completes. - Run unlock and iNdepence hangs again. Force quit, restart, retry unlock and it completes fine. - Phone restarts get T-mobile signal, wifi, make calls, sms, email accounts work including Yahoo, youtube work, everything except Google locate me. - SSH enable and install apps, iNdependence wants to fix host names problem, it does all good. - SFTP, SCP all work

Next step to try to get T-mobile Edge working.

THANKS for iNdependence

Updated to 1.13 fine. Locate Me in maps dowsn't appear to work, but the biggest hassle is Summerboard. Despite having 1.1.3 Firmware on my iPhone, when I try and install Summerboard from Installer it STILl tells me I need 1.1.3, which obviously I have. Anyone having this issue and has found a workaround at all? Reason I updated from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 was just to get Summerboard back so I it's all gone a bit pear shaped.

Here's the fix for the YouTube?/Yahoo mail errors that some folks (like me) are getting, courtesy of a kind soul on Zibri's blog comments:

The first thing you have to do after jailbreaking is installing BSD Subsystem and Open SSH in installer.

After that, download this file: http://soundsgood.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/files/youtube.zip

Then, you have to use a program like WinSCP (Windows) or Independence (Mac) to access iPhone file system.

Put them in the /var/root/Library/Lockdown/ folder with WinSCP or Independence.

If you don't know how to do this, I suggest going to HacktheiPhone?.com for tutorials. Also, you should see an activation record folder under lockdown. Delete any file in there.

Exit the program. Reboot your iPhone and you should have a working You Tube program now.

Hope that helps, but note that I used Cyberduck to actually transfer the files in question. ;-)

I'm also getting the following error:

Couldn't connect to SSH server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is connected to a network, and SSH is installed correctly.

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling SSH, but I still get this error

I must be a total incompetent (this is my first Mac and I've only had it a month, so I'm VERY green) because I have tried EVERYTHING that I've read on here to just simply get iNdepedence to work, but I fail every single time!!! It's becoming pointless, but, I'm going to try posting a comment in the hopes that by a slim chance someone will know what the problem might be and lend a hand. First some info:

I'm using a 1.6 GHz PPC iMac running 10.5.2 and iTunes 7.6. My iPhone is an 8GB from week 41 and was updated to 1.1.3 shortly after it's realease. It is locked with AT&T and has never been tampered with...

OK, so I downloaded 1.4 and when I open it and try to begin a Jailbreak it reports that it is generating RAM disk and for a moment I see it created but then it vanishes and I receive 2 error pop-ups. The first says: "Error occurred while creating the RAM disk" and once I click OK, the second one pops up and says: "Error obtaining RAM disk file". So once that happened, I read through every comment on this page and I force quite iTunes Helper, attempted to locate the file "ramit112.dat"to delete it but for one I can't perform a right click, but I did a control button and mouse clilck and was able to get the the Resources file but there was no .dat file to be found. The only ramit112 folder was a .zip folder and after unzipping it I did not find the .dat file either. One of the last things I've tried was locating the iPhonefirmware112 backup and deleted that, but none of these steps have resulted in ANY progress. Am I just a lost cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

NEVERMIND! I just downloaded iJailBreak 0.5.3 (iJailBreak0.5.3.zip) and it installed in 10 seconds. Another 90 seconds later my iPhone is Jailbroke and has Installer 3.0 on it! I can even unlock it now too if I want....WAY easier than wasting 3 hours trying to get iNdependence to do the job!

Comment by Beiowolf.cn, Feb 16, 2008

i also using iJailBreak 0.5.3 to unlock it, when i want install the SSH by iNdependence, but i cannot using iNdependence to jailbreak again, so i can not using iNdependence to install SSH, i hope you can fix it Thank you

Thanks for your work on Independence, great program and been using it since the beginning.

Noticed that my Edge icon is now a filled in square when using edge/GPRS instead of the 'E' icon I used to get. Was previously using turbosim and this is the first time ive done a soft sim unlock so assuming that's why. Purely cosmetic but my two cents anyway.

I have unlocked 2 1.1.3 OTB phones and it worked well. On both occasions the initial unlock failed and had to be repeated. On one of the phones the camera didn't work and mail crashed. I restored the firmware again using itunes and then reactivated and unlocked using independence. All working well now. I have also tried it on a OTB 1.1.2 and this also is now fully functional. Thanks for the hard work it is most appreciated.

@opera... hope we can look forward to a Pre Firmware Upgrade that prepares our phones so that we can jailbreak / activate afterwards... much like what you have done for the 1.1.1 upgrade to 1.1.2.

Cheers!

I was unable to use the script to decrypt the ramdisk. I was getting the "bad decrypt"-error. I just found out this was happening because the script was using the openssl version from macports instead the one found in /usr/bin/. If you use /usr/bin/ it will work.

Apparently, something is wrong with how you try to decrypt the image. :/

I was a 1.0.2 user and I've virginized, restored 1.1.3 with iTunes and used ZiPhone? 2.2 (now 2.4) to activate/jailbreak/unlock. All that in 2.5 minutes. Truly amazing. And it included Installer.app as well. I've used it for a day now and finally found the lyrics (you need to tap on the screen to see them!) and I'm soooooooooooo happy!

PS: Still has a problem with reverse lookups of the address book

Comment by t...@nodomain.org, Feb 18, 2008

Yeah the macports openssl is busted and can't decrypt. You have to specify /usr/bin to be certain it will work... found that out when someone tried to use one of my ramdisk scripts last night and couldn't get it to work, even though the script works fine for everyone else that's tried it.

I just made a rare finding heres what happened. I jailbreak activated and unlock my iPhone 1.1.3 OTB whit iNdependece out of curiosity since most apps don't work on 1.1.3 FW i decided to downgrade to 1.1.2 so i did put the iPhone in DFU mode "restored" back to 1.1.2 and to my surprise iTunes didn't gave the usual Error 1015 it just went through activation, I far as i aware that isn't suppose to happen. Can anyone try this and confirmed it?

Comment by bhakti.klein, Feb 18, 2008

nice! took many tries, but i've now got a jailbroken 1.1.3 phone, with installer working. had to use nounousomes's ssh commands. and installer does not work with my wiFi, it only works with edge. as expected, some apps don't work, including, most disappointingly, customize. i loved changing the springboard strings, and that doesn't seem to be working.

but nice work everyone!

Comment by rootallahgod, Feb 18, 2008

to get t-mobile edge working you need to add a few settings manually. settings-> General-> Network-> EDGE-> APN: wap.voicestream.com User:guest pass:guest. this will allow you on to the t-mobile edge network.

Endless loop << BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 >> ( how I got out of it - for me at least )

I 'was' on 1.1.1 after upgrading straight from 1.0.2, but I had a phone crash and also stupidly tried to upgrade to 1.1.3 ( when I need it to be SIM FREE ), this made me downgrade to 1.0.2 for a week or two, but after trying to get back to 1.1.1 I ran into this problem - If you are getting this every time you launch Independence 1.4beta - BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

I put the phone into a restore mode ( the one where you hold down both buttons, then release when the apple logo appears )

I then opened the GUI version of ZiPhone? 2.4 for OSX

Clicked the 'Advanced' tab - and checked Exit Recovery ( Normal Reboot )

and hit 'Start'

The phone started up in the verbose text dumb mode, but I could tell it was different.

It all flicked past so quickly at first, but I could make out something to do with 'if you want to alter files' and 'fsck'

It then started to erase sectors and patch sectors.

I have no idea whether this was Ziphone doing all this and I was just seeing the trace, or what?? ...but my phone appeared in activation mode and it seemed to activate itself and now it works. I also seem to have "Installer" pre installed.

I am at 1.0.2 now, but at least it works as a phone etc. I will try to upgrade it back to 1.1.1 again at some point.

Comment by gingrrr, Feb 18, 2008

...also if I open Independence - the status line at the bottom says Connected to iPhone • Firmware 1.0.2 • activated • AFC connection • jailed Trying to Jailbreak it in Independence fails to Jailbreak it. I tried it in "Ziphone" and it worked and did the verbose text reboot so it was Ziphone that was doing all this.

Comment by tlgross, Feb 18, 2008

I have never had to unlock my phone prior to 1.1.3 because I have a non-AT&T account. Activation was good enough. I am reluctant to unlock my phone in fear that I can't get it back to virgin state. If I unlock it now with in 1.1.3 with iNdependence or ZiPhone?, can I still get it back to a virgin state if needed?

Comment by adoyretmas, Feb 19, 2008

What I discover about the "BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0" error is that it has to be witht your net configuratión if you are not clear to download the file from the apple sever it will crash all your procces, you need to get a clear line to le the independen download the file to your iphone updates folder at "user/user/libreries/itunes/iphone uptade files/" the file that the iNdepennce use is the one that it use to restore the iphones to the 1.1.2 firmware, but even if you copy it to the folder, the command line needs to get connected to the internet and download it by it self

I have successfully: Unlocked a OTB 1.1.2 that was stuck in recovery mode after a failed downgrade attempt by updating to 1.1.3 and performing the activation/jailbreak/and SIM Unlock.

Can I:

Upgrade/Restore a 1.1.1 OTB that has been downgraded to 1.0.2, jailbroken and SIM unlocked •to• 1.1.3 and perform the same activation/unlock without any worries of bricking the iPhone?

Thanks for the heads up

I successfully jailbroke a fresh 1.1.3, used the permissions tweaks in the above comments to get around the Installer errors, but am encountering something odd. I've uninstalled SSH through iNdependence, and installed OpenSSH through installer.app

Connecting yields this error: ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

if I uninstall OpenSSH (through installer.app), and re-install SSH through iNdependence, everything works. any idea what is happening?

Comment by chris.wanja, Feb 20, 2008

I think with OpenSSH through Installer only allows you to login in once. As soon as you close the connection you have to reinstall it through Installer.

Now, for the ultimate question. I am on 1.1.2, used iPSF back at 1.1.1. I would love to get to 1.1.3 with 1.1.3 baseband. Can someone help?? chris.wanja@mac.com
